Killer Is Dead… aw man…By the way, off topic here but does anyone know whether or not pre-ordering from Best Buy will get my copy of Killer Is Dead upgraded to Limited Edition?

    • Pyrofrost

      I would say yes:

“All initial launch copies of the game will come packaged with an 80-page hardcover art book, a soundtrack CD containing 25 songs, and the ‘Smooth Operator’ DLC pack containing bonus in-game goods ‘Gigolo Glasses,’ an alternate costume for Vivienne and Mika, a bonus ‘Gigolo Mission’ with Betty, and an entire additional episode with the vampiric Sebastian.”

*no specific retailers are noted in the article*

I thought Mind 0 would do better being a persona/smt clone. Also freaking mickey being on top. Everyone loves mickey. Also sad to see Pikmin 3 drop to 12 already. It is a great game but we need more wii u games to drive sales. I hope ww, dk, mario 3d land pop wii u back up.

    • Ni ~Algidus~

persona fanbase was bitching about the game beign a persona rip off since the beginning and saying that they wouldn’t buy the game because X numbers of things

      • SuperLuigi

I meant in japan. I know overhere it is hated. Look at how well mh clones do. They still sell.

  • Dede Ogbe

    Seriously Killer really is dead….

  • Gammer21

Yay I love vita and It’s finat getting somewhat steady

  • z_merquise

Sales for Killer is Dead . . . ouch.

Well at least Dragon’s Crown is still selling for both PS3 and Vita and I hope it continues in the long run.

  • Pyrofrost

Guys, I wouldn’t worry so much about Killer is Dead. Suda depends on
Western sales for his games like these. Just look at his previous
    similarly themed titles.

Week 1 numbers according to media create:

    >Killer 7 – 11,000 (PS2) (GC v. didn’t make the chart)
    >No More Heroes – 11,700 (Wii)
    >No More Heroes 2 – 11,373 (Wii)
    >No More Heroes: HP – 15,760 (PS3)
    >No More Heroes: HP – 15,153 (360)
    >Shadows of the Damned: – 9,145 (PS3) (360 v. did not make the chart)
    >Lollipop Chainsaw – 53,347 (PS3)
    >Lollipop Chainsaw – 14,422 (360)

*it’s safe to call Lollipop Chainsaw an isolated case for obvious reasons*

But yeah, none of his games were ever hits or chart busters in Japan, even over the broad ‘niche’ gamer crowd. However, I’d say Killer is Dead is in a really comfortable spot compared to his previous titles (excluding
    Lollipop).

  • Ni ~Algidus~

    Killer is dead indeed lol
Mind 0 is well… i totally forgot about the game. I didn’t see much marketing for it. the fact that it looked more like a psp game (but even psp has games with better characters models) didn’t help either. so I was already expecting the game to sell someting like 15k-20k units.

  • DesmaX

wow, Killer really is… *Put sunglasses* dead.

And, heeeey, Hundred Knights is still there. Nice

  • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

    I am one of 15,575. :P

Also reminds me how much I’m looking forward to the next Phoenix Wright game.

  • Renaldi Saputra

whut? mind 0? too bad, I was expecting it will sell at least 40k

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Outch with Mind=0 and Killer is Dead

  • Impressionnant

How many units sold is considered a success?

    • Zackasaur

That depends on the product. Are you asking about something in particular?

      • Impressionnant

Well I’m looking at Mind = 0’s number, and the comments are saying the number was pretty bad, but it looks like a decent number considering the decent (but not great) success of the vita.

        • michel

I heard that 15K for Mind=0 was, more or less, the target number.

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Geez… With how much they promoted KID, I figured it would have done a bit better than this. I was hoping for more with Mind-0 as well, but… I suppose I’m more happy with Mind-0’s sales than KID’s, honestly. It still baffles me how that Disney game is doing so well though, lol.

    • Pyrofrost

I did a bit of research and pull up #’s other Suda games. All things considered after looking back, I would consider this venture pretty successful given where it’s being sold.

We will know if this game truly is a success ones the Western release hits.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Hard to believe Suda is thinking this is a success though, lol.

        • Pyrofrost

I’m sure you get what I mean though. He depends on Western sales for the success of these games.

On the bright side this though, and why I say it’s a success given the situation (and looking at history); Killer is Dead is only beat by the sales of Lollipop Chainsaw, for obvious reasons.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Oh, absolutely. Lollipop Chainsaw was basically sold because of how superficial it was. Well, to put it bluntly:

Blonde hair, big tits, cheerleader, dat ass

It’s quite an exotic combination for Japan. The blonde hair alone would have been enough to get them hooked on it since blonde haired girls, especially protagonists, are liked quite a bit. Killer is Dead took a rather odd approach with its art style, which is probably what pushed a lot of the Japanese players away, while it managed to make more Western players interested.

I don’t doubt it will sell better in NA though, that’s for sure.

Looks like Disney’s brand power is still pretty good in Japan I see. Mind 0 and Killer is Dead are the heartbreaks right now. Maybe Mind 0 can crawl a bit it to 20k. Wonder how many digital sales it got too. I’m curious, does anyone have the numbers for Lollipop Chainsaw to compare it to Killer is Dead? Lastly, check out Dragon’s Crown still selling.

    • Pyrofrost

Look at my post dear, I made a comparison of all Suda games which carry a similar theme. ^_^

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Well I kind of wanted the exact numbers, as I recall Lolipop chainsaw being rather high for a Suda game. You are right about the western sales usually making up for things.

        • Pyrofrost

Well, those are the Media Create #’s, it doesn’t get anymore exact than that when you’re looking for something to base Japanese sales on.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Ah well I meant Western/Eastern numbers together which is going to be very tough to get on this side of the fence. Still, it was good to get the MC numbers at least.

            • Pyrofrost

Well, we have the NPD charts in the West, but they do things a bit differently than Media Create.

Lollipop has done the best though, when it comes to Suda games in Japan that carry this theme. All the rest have brought in considerably poor numbers.
Suda’s games that carry this theme perform considerably better in the West.
It’s the same with any other game of this type though, whether you’re looking at Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, and etc. Games like this perform better in the West. So I wouldn’t worry so much about the low JP sales numbers for Killer is Dead, the game will do just fine once it hits West. ^_^

              • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Thankfully unless I get hit with MORE expenses, my pre-order is still intact.

  • MrKappa

PW must be really good if it has more sales than Mario and Luigi.

  • 罪罰

    288 Xbox 360s
    haha.

  • PrinceHeir

hope Killer is Dead does good outside of japan :P

Mind 0 needs some help too!!
