JoJo gets a perfect score from Famitsu…honestly was not expecting that.

  • DrForbidden

Happy to see The Wonderful 101 get a high score. Reception has been good in the west as well.

    • Zackasaur

      It’s got a 79/100 Metascore, which isn’t too bad.

Mind, I don’t put a lot of stock into reviews and don’t want the game. Your comment just made me want to look up the reception. c:

      • DrForbidden

Hmm, it was 80+ when I saw it last week. I guess it’s had a few mediocre reviews since then.

        • McPoo

It’s been a bit all over the place I believe. From 9/10’s to mid 7’s, and a few 3’s and 4’s too. Not the saviour Nintendo fans were hoping for.

The Wii U board on Gamefaqs has been going mental over the reviews. It’s getting decent scores, but all reviews cite poor controls as one of the negatives against it. The board refuses to believe that though and are insisting that reviewers don’t know how to play games properly >.>

          • HeatPhoenix

They don’t believe it because it’s not true, you can try the demo and see for yourself.

            • McPoo

              I have. It’s not a good indicator.

The main problem seems to be drawing the more complex shapes, which I believe aren’t included in the demo. Almost every review I’ve read has said it’s finicky when recognising these shapes, and just a bit awkward to do. The right analogue stick is an alternative but is useless for anything other than a straight line or a circle.

It’s a fairly hectic game as is, so I imagine trying to draw specific shapes in the later stages could be a bit of a pain. Sounds to me like the Skate games, where Kickflips and Heelflips were easy to pull off, but the more difficult tricks resulted in the analogue stick not always recognising them.

Personally, I’m more inclined to believe the reviewers, considering they all have the same comment to make, even in the positive reviews. I value their opinion more than the fanboy hive mind that is the Gamefaqs Wii U board.

          • DrForbidden

Yeah, for some weird reason, that’s always a popular excuse. I don’t own a WII U, so I won’t be able to form much of a strong opinion on the game, but I suspect that it’s a pretty good one but with some control issues which some players may notice while others may not.

      • Josephl64

79 is a good score…what do you mean “isn’t too bad”?

  • bloodiOS

When was the last time that a game got a perfect score from Famitsu?

    • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

      Final Fantasy XIII-2.

      • bloodiOS

        Oh… my…

        • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

It was Yakuza 5. Sorry about that.

          • bloodiOS

Ah, then it would appear that Famitsu isn’t all that bad.

            • DesmaX

              But FF XIII-2 did get a 40/40

              So yeah…

              • bloodiOS

                Argh… you’re all messing with my head…

              • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

Why the hell a lot care for video game ratings and reviews? It’s just opinion. Though I enjoyed most of the games rated perfectly by Famitsu.

                • TheGameTagerZ

Because people have opinions that you shouldn’t care about to begin with.

                • bloodiOS

I usually don’t buy games based on reviews but I do read them after I’ve played the games. It’s just a way for me to look for reviewers who share the same taste as I do, so that when I feel hesitant on some games, I can (hopefully) look up their reviews and see if it would be worth my time to pick the game up. That said, most of the time I’ll just buy a game based on my gut feeling alone.

              • Budgiecat

                Injustice got a 31/40

  • TheGameTagerZ

I don’t trust Famitsu…they’re always giving extremely high scores for average games. As far as Jojo the lack of a good story (yeah yeah its a fighting game well tell that to BlazBlue and Naruto) will bring my score down at least.

    • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

Famitsu looks at games objectively, no wonder you don’t trust their game ratings.

      • TheGameTagerZ

One Piece Romance Dawn got a 38/40 or something like that. I bought it and the game was verrry average for an RPG and the story was all text bubbles (some lasting for 15 minutes) in the end it is all opinion but I simply don’t trust them anymore. Still I think Jojo is going to be a solid game just not perfect like they say it is.

        • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

That’s like saying you buy games according to other people’s opinions. No wonder you’re getting “boring” games.

          • TheGameTagerZ

You can’t even hold an argument together. I don’t base my purchases from reviews. There are many factors i take in before purchasing. The least important would be a review. Famitsus score for one piece was merely a small push towards my purchase. My point is I THINK (notice the “I”) some famitsu reviews are rigged (in my opinion)

            • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

You can say that for every game review magazine/website ever. You’re probably just expecting too much from a game.

Your problem is you bought it. Why not check some Let’s Plays by other players (not by devs), or try out a demo if available before making a purchase? Then you say a game review has least weight before buying a game?

              Okay. Whatever you say.

              • TheGameTagerZ

Sorry that I like to buy my Japanese imports on release so I don’t have the luxury to watch a lets Play or try a demo (especially if its an obscure game)

              • http://www.shonengamez.com Fabian Ortiz

                http://kotaku.com/5520937/do-not-trust-this-magazines-review-scores

Everyone knows that Famitsu loads their Reviews.

This game is going to be great, but not 40/40. They gave it a perfect score because they got exclusive coverage.

                • Budgiecat

                  V-Jump don’t got coverage? I highly doubt that…

                  • http://www.shonengamez.com Fabian Ortiz

                    This is stupid.

Famitsu got TONS of hands on coverage of the game that NOBODY else had. Interviews, Gameplay, They have an entire website dedicated to it because CC2 let them in. They have the MOST ASB coverage.

              • HeatPhoenix

In all seriousness, Famitsu reviews ARE really rigged. Mediocre games are bound to get 8/8/7/8 on Famitsu as long as there was a bit of a budget behind it. Most of the 40/40 games seriously do not deserve it.

            • Dede Ogbe

Of course they r. FF13-2 does not deserve a perfect score. And no one bases their purchases on a review score anyway. They r there for as gamers to get an indicator as to whether or not it’s worth pre-ordering the game, wait for it to hit the bargain bin or avoid entirely.

              • Guest

isn’t what you just described, a gamer basing their purchase possibilities on a review? I feel like you contradicted yourself there

              • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

Your saying gamers are not using reviews to purchase a game but contradict yourself by saying they use it see if its worth pre-ordering, hit the bargain bin, or avoid it? Really?

        • Renaldi Saputra

OP Romance down got around 3 of 5 stars on amazon.co.jp.. so yes, famitsu isn’t always right

      • Bob Obb

No, Famitsu rewards high scores to high bidders. The magazine has been shit for the past decade.

        • Dede Ogbe

That or they smoke alot of pot. It’s at a stage where they’re barely credible now. Remember these r the people who gave toki to towa a high score, and the game was awful

          • DrForbidden

Tokitowa didn’t get a high score from Famitsu. It scored 32, which is pretty mediocre for Famitsu’s scale.

      • MosquitoLemon

Please don’t say, “objective review”, that’s an oxymoron. The second you assign an arbitrary number to something, it is no longer objective (and if it weren’t an arbitrary number, they wouldn’t need four separate people to review it… they’d just get a robot to do it).

Here is what an objective review would look like:

“It’s a game. It came in a box. There are different modes. 10 out of 10!!!!”

      • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

Objectively? Ha! I don’t think so.

    • TheGameTagerZ

I wasn’t implying that jojo was average by the way. I mean in general their reviews are shady.

  • https://twitter.com/Panda_castro Panda

Good to hear JoJo got a perfect score, hopefully it sells a lot. CC2 deserves it. Same for platinum and 101.

  • MrKappa

LP3 not looking good… I think after the failure of EX Troopers, and what I expect to be equally low sales for LP3, Capcom will end the series. :(

On a better note JoJo getting such a high score hopefully bodes well. Now let’s just hope it isn’t a one time play unbalanced piece of trash like what CC2 does with the Naruto Storm games.

    • DrForbidden

I don’t think anyone was expecting Lost Planet 3 to actually be good, given the developer…

  • Hinataharem

I saw Johnny and clicked the link without reading the headline. I was pleased

  • Renaldi Saputra

    wat? JoJo??

    just wow

    • Hol Horse

It’s one of the greatest Shounen Jump ever made. Why is it surprising?

      • Renaldi Saputra

        well, I didn’t know before..

        • Hol Horse

…….aaaaaand……what you didn’t know before? That JoJo is a Shounen Jump like Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc.?

          • Renaldi Saputra

I didn’t follow shounen jump anymore, so I don’t know about JoJo and Toriko

            • Hol Horse

You should pick up at least JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

              Believe me, it’s awesome.

It ispired a lot of videogame/anime/manga characters (Guile from Street Fighter, for example, it’s based on a cyborg nazi from Part 2 of this crazy masterpiece.)

              • Renaldi Saputra

maybe I should try watch the anime first

                • Hol Horse

You know … that the anime covers only 2 parts, right?

                • Hol Horse

Maybe you should try the manga…obviously LOL: there’s no animated Part 4-5-6-7-8. And they’re all fantastic

          • DrForbidden

Isn’t Jojo published in Ultra Jump? That’s a seinen magazine, not shonen. Of course, it’s been years since I last read either, so it may have moved.

            • Hol Horse

JoJolion for sure is published in Ultra Jump. I don’t know for Steel Ball Run. The rest is pure Shounen Jump

      • Hol Horse

I said “ONE” of the greatest Shounen Jump, ya 3 dickheads

  • Pyrofrost

    Liking that W101 score ^^

  • Josephl64

Hotchkiss was that bad? I only knew it by its art. I wonder if the removal of 18+ scenes removed some of what made it amazing if it was like that in the first place

    • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

When I saw it was coming to the Vita I looked up impressions of the original and there were a fair few unimpressed people, so I think it might be the game itself. Shame really since the art is rather pretty.

      • Josephl64

yeah, that’s what first drew me in…definitely a shame

        • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

On the bright side, there are a bunch more VNs coming to the Vita. I’m really looking forward to Rui wa Tomo o Yobu.

          • Josephl64

same, I love seeing all these VNs coming out…I just know I’ll probably pick White Album 2 up for the Vita again even though I already have it for PS3 and played it before on PC

            • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Is White Album 2 really good then? I saw a blurb for it that made it sound dull, but I suspect that the blurb was just written badly. :P

              • Josephl64

It’s amazing, well at least I think it is. It even beat out that Mario game which was released on the exact same week ratings wise.

                • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Wow! That’s pretty impressive. I will have to research it more. Oh dear, the Vita games I want just keep piling up.

I wonder if that Oregairu game is likely to be any good? They seem to have put more info out about the Bluray that comes with the limited edition than the actual game.

                  • Josephl64

I’m guessing it would just be decent, hopefully I’m wrong and it proves to be really good. I am just usually skiddish about VNs that don’t start out as VNs and instead come from anime or manga

                    • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Same here. Still, fingers crossed! :)

  • Zancrow

I’m sure JoJo’s BAASB is a great game.
It got a shitload of characters and the graphical style is perfect.
But I doubt the whole game is perfect.^^

    • Guest

You should read the all thing at least

      • Hol Horse

Uhm…….I think he actually read it. There are other people here didn’t.

    • Hol Horse

Considering we’re talking of CC2, …yeah, for sure not perfect

But if you know the manga you should be hyped

      • Zancrow

        I am hyped!
And I would buy the game in a heartbeat if it was released here!

  • PrinceHeir

    yes JoJo perfect score :D

definitely a shining example on how to put all your fan favorites in one game!

now they just need to balance it, add some tweaks, and other characters and they can milk it all they want!

  • MusubiKazesaru

    fuck yes, JoJo

    • Hol Horse

Who is the asshole that thumbs your comment down? Everybody here MUST (not “should”) read JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure!

      • MusubiKazesaru

        I know right?

  • Hidayat246

I remember when my fren told me :

“…..japanese must be now about jojo bizarre, if not, there are not japanese……”

now i know what he mean

    • Hol Horse

….so does it mean you’ll read it at least?

      • Hidayat246

        not even single chapter

        • Hol Horse

May I ask why? It’s a good Shounen Jump like Dragon Ball, Bleach, Naruto etc. after all….just hate?

…it ispired anime/manga/videogames characters, even Capcom itself admit it. Be aware.

          • Hidayat246

i am sorry bro, but i am not a manga-maniac like you
or even JOJO big fans basic from your avatar

and why are you say i am hate JOJO???? is not true

i dont care about this manga, i just suprise after see Famitsu score that all

            • Hol Horse

Oh …. I see. I respect your opinion. The reason why I do is because the series isn’t sufficiently known outside Japan (even though it has a bazilion of musical references: AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, The Cars, Wham!, even Rihanna lol etc. etc.)

  • Budgiecat

    wow Jojo perfect score/

Well it’s quite obvious that CC2 put a lot of hard work into the game. Each frame of each character was painstakingly redrawn directly off manga panels from the series and put into as actual movesets.

No other licensed fighter has done that.

  • Hol Horse
    • Hol Horse

Here we go again, may I ask why, dear 2 dislikers? Step forward.

      • DrForbidden

You seem to be new here, dude. Some friendly advice: No need to bother. There are lots of cowardly trolls and shit-stirrers lurking around who will downvote anything somebody posts which is not to their liking.

        • Hol Horse

I really can’t stand the fact that Disqus doesn’t allow to see the negging people. And not even add contacts

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

      I signed it.

  • TheGameTagerZ

    I’ll just leave this here.

    • Hol Horse

As usual, there’s always the disliker/hater….I’m asking: why???

      • Guest

I’m not hating. I think the game is going to be great. But anyone who takes Famitsu seriously is an idiot.

        • Hol Horse

Dude, that wasn’t a “taking Famitsu seriously”. That was a freakin’ teasing

  • Hol Horse

    http://www.famitsu.com/news/201308/22038755.html

HOLY HELL! The Pre-orders for JoJo All Star Battle are over…500.000. LOL NOT 50 millions
