Stalk other players as a fast and dangerous night hunter.

Consumers who pre-order Dying Light will receive a player-versus-player gameplay mode called “Be the Zombie,” Warner Bros. has announced.

The mode will let you stalk other players as a night hunter—”a lethal predator with unique and deadly skills like superhuman speed, a tendril used to grapple around the game world, special charge and distance attacks, and more.” The hunter, who appears at night to prevent the destruction of zombie hives by killing humans, is an “extremely rare zombie mutation,” making him agile, fast, and dangerous. By playing as a night hunter, you’ll earn experience points, develop your character through its own special skill tree, and earn exclusive rewards and perks.

Pre-ordering the game is the only way to get “Be the Zombie” mode “at launch,” according to Warner Bros.

Dying Light is in development at Techland and due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2014. View screenshots of “Be the Zombie” mode at the gallery.

I just hope it’ll ship without any major technical problem.

It’s by the people behind Dead Island, I wouldn’t hold my breath :P

Yeah, I know. So I basically gave up on current-gen console versions already. I can only hope that the next-gen versions won’t be affected.

It certainly looks alot more polished than Dead Island if that gameplay video from before is anything to go by… But then again the end product rarely matches early gameplay footage.

I’d say the next-gen versions will probably be safest to go by in any multi-gen releases.

I wonder how long would it take for them to have “Be the zombie mode” land in the market place. Two weeks of fan ridicule? Taking a whole mode out of a game just because the consumer didn’t buy it at launch, is a little harsh.
