Capcom shares short new trailer for debut PS4 game.

Deep Down, first announced for PlayStation 4 at its February reveal event, is an online RPG developed by Capcom Online Games, the company announced during its Network Games Conference.

The game is a “memory reading RPG” with dungeons at its core. It will make its playable debut at the Tokyo Game Show from September 19 to 22.

It seems that now developers are focusing on MMORPG on the next gen.
I hope this isn’t the new thing.

  • Syltique

Seems very much like a horror, dungeon crawler. I’m starting to believe the people that had theories about an Assassin’s Creed like twist with people experiencing it in virtual reality or something after this trailer.

Can’t wait! I hope TGS is big this year.

“Deep Down, first announced for PlayStation 4 at its February reveal event, is an online RPG developed by Capcom Online Games, the company announced during its Network Games Conference.”

There goes any interest I have for this game….

  • genobee

First Breath of Fire 6 is online then this too. Online this, online that. I hope this trend dies quickly.

    • Pyrofrost

With the next console gen so hung-up on the whole “social” thing, I’d say that it will only become more prevalent than it is now.

    • Miguel Vilhena

I feel next generation will be all about online. As there are no online restrictions, slowing down used sales and reembursing developers with second hand fees, this online-only requirement will be almost norm, i think.

    • TetsuyaHikari

Ryu ga Gotoku 6 announced to be online only!

Just kidding, but you’re totally right, man. I really hope this trend stops, cause this could get annoying REEEEEEEALLY quick.

      • Pyrofrost

I swear if that game is announced “online only” someone will get a random kick in the dick, and I mean it.

        • TetsuyaHikari

Make that TWO kicks in the dick, lol.

          • TetsuyaHikari

This suddenly came to mind :3

    • Zero

It’s not just online. BoF 6 is an online touch RPG for smartphones, tablets and PCs…

      My response –

  • gamelayer

Unsurprisingly the graphics look like a far-cry from teaser that was last shown. In fact the graphics look no better than a late PS3 game.
Being online will also likely mean choppy framerate, lag, lower graphics and lots of annoying exploits.

    • HeatPhoenix

You sure know a lot after seeing a 7 second trailer.

      • gamelayer

I’m just making an educated guess.
If I didn’t know it was Capcom, then I’d think it was
a new PS3 Kings Field game.

  • gamelayer

I really hope this isn’t some sort of First-Person affair, was hoping for a Demons / Dark Souls style game.

  • Pyrofrost

Eh, SquareEnix is already fulfilling my “online only” gaming needs.

    • TetsuyaHikari

      I hear that :3

    • dior

      With… FFXIV…?

      • Pyrofrost

        That is correct.

Also, due to recent events, I would be very surprised if DQX’s localization isn’t announced before long. I will have all the “online only” I need with those two.

  • Zancrow

I assume it’s a Dungeon Crawler-Demon’s Souls hybrid or something.
That kinda killed my hype, though.

  • Keegs79

    I am intrigued!

  • Zackasaur

You know, I wouldn’t have expected it, but this is starting to look like an exclusive. o_o

They never mentioned an X1 version after that was announced. And now they’ve made a new teaser video that just has PS4 at the end (and with pretty big emphasis).

    Huh. Cool.

  • hull

So Demon/Dark Souls were profitable and Monster Hunter too and everyone is adding online. New X game, Dragon Quest X, Dragon’s Dogma, Deep Down..etc. I don’t need fucking online feature. I want old, good and old good IP back offline. Damn. Thank god Bethesda and SE separate offline and online. I will enjoy FF XIV. Good IP doesn’t need milking. I’m tired of this. Sorry.

    • Hidayat246

      think like this :
a multiplatform company like capcom want make a exclusive game for PS4?????
      in a new console???
      A new IP too????

      that all make sense

  • Zero

I hope its more cooperative based. I could see myself enjoying fighting/exploring through a dungeon with friends. Even better if it has a strong story.

  • LightGenx

I don’t know how I feel about this..

  • Charlottes Guardian

I’d really like a further, clearer definition of “online RPG”. It’s kinda confusing trying to pinpoint what that really means in this case beyond, “I can play it online”.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

  • HeatPhoenix

Nothing wrong with online, guys. As long as it is executed properly, after all, your beloved Dark Souls is also an online RPG as it can in fact be played online. Nobody says that Deep Down is online only or that it’s going to be an MMO. Don’t jump to conclusions, folks.

    • Raiu

Sorry… I was just thinking of Diablo 3’s error 37 and Sim City’s server problems when I read the online RPG part…

  • dior

Everyone here is turned off to the idea of the game being online but aren’t giving reasons. And if your reason is “muh internet doesn’t stay connected all the time!” then save it because this game is obviously targeted at people with stable income with non anti-social behaviors.

  • Willgaea

That’s a disgusting trailer. I hope I can play with friends on my team. They can handle those Humanoid doods.
