Namco Bandai will host a PlayStation 3 closed beta test for Dark Souls II in North America and Europe on October 5, the company announced.

Fans who want to get into the beta test, which will test your skill, fortitude, and will to survive in an “entirely new area of the game,” should pay attention to the game’s official Facebook page beginning September 5 for updates.

In related news, Namco Bandai also shared a new video interview with game director Yui Tanamura featuring the first player-versus-player footage of Dark Souls II.

Dark Souls II is due out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2014.

Beta? Dark souls 2? What? How is this not a demo since there isn’t heavy stress on the servers in this series.

      Closed beta’s aren’t primarily for server stress-testing.

A closed beta is more reserved for testing things dealing with the actual game itself. An open beta serves more the purpose of stress-testing server loads and such.

The video seems to’ve been deleted. Also, what is the official source of this information?

Is there a link? I’m unable to locate anything.

I just hope the mechanics are better. I was playing both Demon’s and Dark Souls the other day and then I switched to Clan of Champions which isn’t really that great a game and I found myself liking those mechanics slightly better.

    • Willgaea

Better than Ds mechanics? I gotta try it out. I love dark souls. I just hate that I can’t join up with my friends.

    • Willgaea

So I can’t find this game on amazon. Is it some cult game?

  • Raiyu

I still haven’t finished (or really started) Dark Souls and I’m excited. Bring it on.

I hope the PVPis more balanced like it was in Demons, also wish it was going to be on Ps4…
