Update fixes frame rate and other issues.

The Zone of the Enders HD Collection PlayStation 3 version patch promised back in May is now available for download in North America and Europe.

The 594 megabyte update, according to a NeoGAF user who downloaded it, fixes frame rate issues, adds post processing anti-aliasing, and renders particle effects at full resolution.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30, 2012.

I saw this and kind of hoped it was about the Vita version… because I had forgotten all about the patch incoming for PS3.

Needless to say, I had a sad when I finished reading the title.

Guess I should move this up my wishlist.

    Well played Konami, Well Played

Hmm, already platinum’d both anyway. Just wish Kojima would still considering a sequel.

This *sniff* so much this *sniff*

So, now I can finally get it…

So HexaDrive’s been contracted to clean up High Voltage’s baffling mess, awesome. Now I’d like Digital Foundry to notice this soon and put up an analysis for it.

I was just going to chime in on that one.The answer is NO. ZOE 1 appears to be untouched. When you start ZOE 2 a "HexaDrive" logo appears when the game is launched while nothing extra shows up for ZOE 1.The framerate in ZOE 1 is just as unstable as it was in the original release. It certainly runs much better than ZOE 2 used to but it's nowhere near as smooth as the original PS2 version. Particle effects result in regularly slowdown and general gameplay rarely holds steady. It also lacks the anti-aliasing added to the sequel.I'm kind of surprised and disappointed. Not that I love the original game all that much but it would have been nice to have both games properly remastered instead of just ZOE 2. ZOE 2 is virtually flawless at this point but the original game is still in somewhat poor condition.

    Oh snap!

Is it that hard to code a game which was already made, Konami?!
I don’t care how “complex” the architecture of the PS3 is, other developers like Guerilla Games or Naughty Dog manage to do wonders with it!

      • bloodiOS

They’re just being cheap at this point. After all, almost all of the comparison videos out there uses footages of the second game, and since no one seems to care much about the first one, Konami only contracted HexaDrive to fix half of the problem…

        • xMCXx

          What assholes…-_-

I played ZoE 1 before I played it in HD just now to make sure. Aside from a small hiccup at the start when Leo first enters Jehuty, I had no problems with HD.

      • bloodiOS

To me, it never felt as smooth as the PS2 version… but overall, the performance was decent enough, I suppose. I’m still bitter that the post-process AA (MLAA perhaps?) wasn’t added to the first game…

  • Belenger

JP version is still 1.01, odd I thought this was handled by Kojipro.

  • MosquitoLemon

I was waiting for this, I might jump on the games now, what is it, $20 used?

  • bloodiOS

So I finally got home to try this update out and people, seriously, after I played patched version of the second game, I think it’s utterly impossible for me to ever be able to look back at the performance of the first game and think that it’s “decent” again. Not only does the implementation of the AA makes everything looks smooth and gorgeous, I don’t think I have seen any dip in frame rate anywhere.

    Seriously, people, remember this?

Yeah well, now it’s a constant 60fps from start to finish. It’s just so darn sweet, folks.

Konami, seriously, you better contract Hexa Drive once again to fix the first game, too. Don’t pull this half-ass stunt on me.

    • César H. Sandoval

Nobody cares about ZOE1, the second game is were the fun is.

      • bloodiOS

Well, I do and even if I don’t, it doesn’t excuse Konami for being half-assed. If they’re going to fix it, then fix everything.

  • z_merquise

This came all of a sudden. This just gave me a good reason to replay ZOE HD.

  • DesmaX

Oooh, it runs perfectly now. Great

  • bloodiOS

So, uh, I’ve heard that the patch doesn’t work on the PSN version of the game. Can anyone confirm this?

    • Mohsin Mirza

correct, the patch is not available for the PSN version of the game, no idea why…
