PlayStation 3 version showcases better lighting and color.

The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki is coming out for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in Japan on September 26. But how does each version compare? A new page on the game’s official website provides us with an answer.

In case you missed it, The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki Evolution was recently announced for PS Vita. The first trailer premiered this morning.

  • Tac-Mex

That feel when this game will not be localized

  • BossTuff

The textures look a little muddled on the Vita version, but other than that it looks pretty good. Too bad a localization is far in the future, if ever. :(

  • CeroSuerte

Oh please, why bother if there is no english release

    • jujubee88

Learn a little Japanese/have a guide walk you through (some of) it/you have a VITA which means you can buy it and support Falcom (because they are a small developer worthy of support)

      All of those reasons!

      • DesmaX

Hopefully someone will make a guide. Can’t find one for Ao

        • Sim

You don’t need a guide for Ao… but if you still do google translate a wiki in google chrome.. its crude but does the job.

          • DesmaX

No? Does it gives me a “exclamation point” in the map, or something?

      • CeroSuerte

I can speak a bit/ i can understand enough/ you do know with that language reading is a whole different thing? I dont own a vita nor do i want one/ am old fashioned :) TV guy/ a guide walk me through? Come on, Am i playing or researching!! ;), they put english me and hundreds more will buy it in heartbeat, hell they can even ask for donation for translation and still ppl will pay, also if i recall, falcom is around 30+ years old!! That is not small

        • Anime10121

I agreed with everything you said until you said putting an english script in a game like this is not that big of a deal. Do you realize how much text these games have? One of these games alone has more text than all three of the PSone Final Fantasies put together (and wont sell nearly as many copies)!

          • CeroSuerte

            Took it off!!

        • jujubee88

See, you have a better advantage than most (when it comes to JRPG’s) / Yes, I know about the difficulties between reading and speaking differences in foreign languages (I’m a bit multilingual but not too well)/ The VITA is awesome, even if you feel indifferent, I suggest giving at least giving it chance. (it’s really cool tech) / I agree, not sure why more devs don’t have a small department to double check, edit, etc fan (script) translations.

Lastly, about Falcom. They are historically a small(er) developer. They have gotten bigger, though and I’m happy they’ve gotten back to levels back in the NES era of success.

p.s. Can we stop talking with “/” and talk like humans? :P

      • KnifeAndFork

No go to their office and demand they localize it by gunpoint

    • Elvick

      Don’t come into the topic?

  • Sae-Won Yoon

I honestly don’t see much of a difference. If any.

  • DesmaX

Yeah, this is clearly a Vita game. PS3 port doesn’t look any better

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

I wouldn’t say it doesn’t look any better, the PS3 version does seem to look sharper, compared to Vita’s softer look.

      • LordKaiser

A bit but we know that they can do better.

  • bloodiOS

800×450… not much difference can be spotted from that.
That said, this is developed using the PhyreEngine, right? There shouldn’t be that much of a difference anyway.

    • DesmaX

      Yup, PhyreEngine.

Easy to port it to both platforms

  • Adol Christin

The Vita version looks great, getting that one for sure. Almost matches the PS3, well besides the lower resolution. Vita version looks great and I can play it on the go :)

  • KnifeAndFork

Besides lol localization, I kinda wish it was made exclusively for PS3 so we coulda gotten better graphics

  • Heavenly_King

The screens are fake; because in the second Vita screenshot the Vita has “L1″ button which it does not. And in the second PS3 pic; the select Icon is the one that is in the VITA and not the PS3.

    • tubers

Or they just got lazy since Start is Start and L1 is basically L.

      • JeremyTMH

        Thats the whole idea. >.>

  • tubers

I’m sure the PS3 version will just run at a higher resolution and probably a higher or more stable framerate.

The PSV version looks like it’ll run below native res with some AA.

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

It also looks muddier (The Vita version) which is strange. Probably due to the resolution or the texture work. I hope that changes as they reach the last leg.

      • tubers

It’s called running below native res (game renders below 960 x 544 internally) w/ some AA (anti aliasing).

Lot’s of VITA “AAA” games are doing that.

        That’s the “fuzzy/muddy” look from.

        • Elvick

          Killzone: Mercenary isn’t. :D

Cambridge worked some magic voodoo on that ish.

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Hmm, I see. Though I understand Persona 4 Golden is sub native res but it doesn’t look muddy the way Sen no Kiseki does, though I’d have to see it on my Vita to confirm such. @disqus_4qxZDhDO9o:disqus is right about Killzone: Mercenary, can’t wait to side as Helghast and rack up money in that game.

I still think my fund the localization of The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki Kickstarter idea is a good one. Just need to find someone with the skills to localize it, then we can start. xD

I really think lots of people would back it.

    • Zharkiel

      There’s always Victor Ireland.

If enough people contact him, who knows, he might take notice of the series. I know some people might not like the idea but hey, we’re desperate.

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Problem with the kickstarter for this, MarvelousUSA has the exclusive rights to publish The Legend of Heroes overseas. Provided they don’t drop said license anytime soon that pretty much would make the idea a non-starter.

  • Hating Ass Nigga

They both look good, too bad neither of them are coming out of japan

  • Duc PC-QB

Just like Project diva f vs F.

Vita version is blurrier while PS3 one looks sharp and crisp.

As for me Im going for Vita ver.

    • OverlordZetta

Can you read Japanese? Or is it a title that’s easy enough to play without?

      • Duc PC-QB

I can but not so much, beware that this series has a looot of text, and Sen will be the biggest one.

If you cant read Japanese I wont recommend this game though.

  • PrinceHeir

even the PS3 is obviously has better graphics, i can’t help but think this is much better playing on handhelds :)

    amazing stuff Falcolm!

Xseed please localize it? it’s been so long since Trails of the Sky!
