A PC game upgrade and new idol production game.

Nitroplus announced two new Super Sonico games at Wonder Festival in Chiba.

The first game, Motto! SoniComi (More Communication with Sonico), is a PlayStation 3 upgrade of the 2011 PC game SoniComi (Communication with Sonico). It uses the PC game as its base, but offers updated graphics and will be easier to play. It will launch in Japan in 2014.

The second game, SoniPro (Super Sonico in Production), is an idol production and communication game for 3DS developed by Time and Eternity studio Imageepoch. As a producer, you’ll train the idol Sonico to your liking. The scenario is completely original and you can enjoy Sonico in 3D. It’s due out in Japan in winter 2014.

Watch a trailer for the 3DS game below. Visit its official website here.

Never mind, I didn’t read article before posting the comment
(gotta break that faulty habit =P)

    • Solomon_Kano

Not really a pairing at all since they’re getting completely different games.

      • bloodiOS

I posted the comment before actually reading the article =P

        • Solomon_Kano

Ah. Happens to the best of us lol.

    • Hoshi星

      E.X. Trooper was also a PS3/3DS combo.

      • bloodiOS

I also thought it was odd then…

      • tubers

        I would’ve said “weird”,

        When I saw PS3, I expected a VITA xD

  • ギャビン

  • MrKappa

Errr…. so what exactly is the story behind this character?

Oh and I must not forget my obligatory “**** Nintendo” for their region lock nonsense.

    • new_tradition

If I recall correctly, Sonico is the mascot character for NitroPlus. A lot of the official artwork and even figurines have her wearing a set of headphones, so I’m assuming there’s some musical inclination for the character (there’s a lot of fan concerts highlighting the songs from many of their games, so I’ve seen her in advertising), but I don’t believe she’s an actual character in any of the visual novels.

For Nitro+CHiRAL, there’s a blue haired bishie mascot called Naito who also wears headphones. I’ve seen advertisements of him promoting “CHiRAL Night” highlighting songs from the BL games. I don’t know if this is official, but the running theory is that Naito and Sonico are siblings, lol. That’s about as much background as I’ve ever known about them xD

    • HeatPhoenix

She has boobs and now you can train her to sing the end

    • MosquitoLemon

Who is downvoting the idea that region locking sucks? Seriously, I would own a 3DS and be pouring money into it if they had bothered to step into the 21st century.

      • Budgiecat

        • MosquitoLemon

          That makes absolutely no sense

          • DrForbidden

95% of things Budgiecat writes don’t make any sense, dude.

            • Budgiecat

I absolutely agree with that statement

….oh wait that doesn’t make any sense!

  • Eclipse

Whoa, I was seriously not expecting this. Having this available on the PS3 is a pretty sweet option~!

That 3DS idol game also seems like it could be quite fun.

  • Duc PC-QB

Cool but where is my im@s Vita ?

    • TetsuyaHikari

Probably the same place wherever the next iteration of Dream C Club is right now.

    • jujubee88

*sigh* No one is allowed to have any fun! :^(

  • Ian Manning

    So where’s Sonic?

  • Claude

    Imageepoch no longer saving RPGs.

    • DyLaN

Tbh, we didn’t get some of their better game.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

T&E was a fluke but Imageepoch still kicks ass. Their greatest games just weren’t localized. Arc Rise Fantasia was fantastic though.

      • AdamBoy64

Oh yes, it was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I think a lot of people watched a clip of the voice acting and then dismissed it, which is a shame.

One of my favourites for sure.

        • Pyrofrost

          I agree completely.

It’s a great game, and most people don’t consider the fact that the Devs have nothing to do with the VAs.
          That is on the publisher.

    • Soul_Blade

imho they never were saving them. Leave that to Atlus, Monolithsoft, Mistwalker, Level 5, Intelligent Systems, Etc.

  • Pyrofrost

More interested in this than anything Crypton Future Media/Sega.

  • papermario

    What are you doing imageepoch?

    • DyLaN

      Whtever they want?

  • AnotheRay

    CERO Z?

  • HassanJamal

I understand why this character has her own game on 3DS and PS3. Both consoles are the popular consoles in Japan aaaand they both have 3D effects for obvious reasons.

  • OverlordZetta

    Might be cool, I guess?

    Miku needs competition anyway.

    • jujubee88

I know at least one die hard Miku fan who would like to disagree with you on that.

Also, I don’t even know if this is like PD. Is it? I honestly couldn’t tell from the gameplay clip.

      • TetsuyaHikari

Doubtful. If it’s anything like the other idol games, it will simply involve buttons to push at a particular time with the music, but it won’t be anything fancy or probably have bonuses and such for the scoring system like Project Diva has.

It will simply be treated as a mini game since the focal point of the game is to raise an idol (i.e. converse, date, buy gifts, etc.).

  • Arla

I actually liked the song in this trailer unlike most of the Vocaloid games. Though if Vocaloid games are just starting to get localized this sure as hell isn’t.

    • TetsuyaHikari

      Yeah, this is too:

      kawaii desu ne uguu chu~<3

to be localized. It basically screams, "JAPAN ONRY!!" This has as much of a chance as Dream C Club or iDOLM@STER getting localized.

      • MosquitoLemon

American flag bikini at 1:08, totally has a chance to come over

      • Budgiecat

Yes because Hatsune Miku is so hardcore Westernized….

        • TetsuyaHikari

Er… Did I say anything about Sega justifying their localization for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on PS3? No. If you followed the series at all, you’d know that the first installment of Project Diva came out in 2009 for PSP and we’ve missed every last one of them since then, excluding Project Diva F for PS3 (which was also listed for Vita, accidentally, on the ESRB, but was pulled because lol no Vita sales in NA).

If it takes them THAT long just to bring that game over, this one will come to us in 2021, maybe. Miku has definitely been doing better in North America, especially since the live concerts and sponsorship by Toyota, but still… I’ll NEVER understand why Sega decided to localize this, but passed on Ryu ga Gotoku 5 and Ryu ga Gotoku 1&2 HD Edition when that series has been getting localized for years. Granted, the fanbase isn’t quite as strong as it could be in numbers and the games usually sell like crap, but I blame Sega’s lack of promoting the games since all they really seem to ever invest their money into promoting is the next Sonic game.

  • Josephl64

Going to get both games easily…also if they ever decide to make a Project Diva like game with Sonico, that would be godly. I prefer Sonico over Miku and her gang anyday

    • SprintsMcGee

I like both myself. I really have no preference. However, I’m glad Sonico is getting the attention she deserves.

      • Josephl64

I love Miku, but I just give the edge to Sonico, that’s all

  • Dokuro

I wish this game is for Ps Vita.

  • Budgiecat

    more idol crap?

    • TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, there’s just too many of these games over the rest. We need more FPS games instead or RPGs, dammit!

      • Budgiecat

No we need a GODMARS game in full cel shaded 3D graphics

Only then will justice be served

        • TetsuyaHikari

It wasn’t funny when you were doing it last year and it’s still not funny now. Downvoting :|

  • Karl Josef

10/10 gamers who have Japanese region 3DS would buy!
    me =3 there’s a ps3 version huehuehue

    • Josephl64

      they are 2 different games
