So, I went to watch The Wolverine today and… it was alright. The ending however, sure makes me excited for the next X-men.

Liege is crazy hot today. At the pace the project is going, it’s pretty much guaranteed to hit the last stretch goal. On the other hand, Project Maiden is roughly $1K short of funded with only 5 days left and… it’s going really slow, so sure hope it makes it in time.

Anyway, let’s me introduce you guys to a Kickstarter project that recent caught my attention: Insignificant, being made by Significant Games. You play as a tiny person and have to face off against all kind of dangers that mother nature dishes out at you (snail, wolves, etc.) You can fight with pens, branches, floss stick, yup yup. It’s funny how there are a few things that resemble Dark Souls: like the big wolf which reminds me of Sif, nutshell armor that reminds of Siegmeyer of Catarina, and there is also bonfire and pyromancy. Anyway, go check it out and see if you like it enough to fund it (raise enough and it’ll come to next-gen consoles):

Whoa! That sure surprised the **** out of me.

      • Sevyne

        What in the hell?!

      • Solomon_Kano

I am… absolutely baffled that this exists, but even more so that people are actually funding it. Can’t deal.

        • Sevyne

If it were females instead there would be a massive uproar all over the internet.

That said, it definitely ranks pretty high on my “dumbest things I’ve seen on kickstarter” list.

          • Solomon_Kano

The neverending battle lol. Funny, since I just saw this in PrinceHeir’s post above:

            http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=635716

I’ve had the good fortune to only come across games, web-series, and tech on KS, so this is the end-all, be-all of dumb Kickstarters for me lol.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

A friend of mine spoiled the ending for that movie on Facebook and everyone pretty much flipped, lol. I guess it’s a good thing I’m not into X-Men, or comics in general, really.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Looks like Liege might hit that final stretch goal before the end. That’s awesome.

I think Project Maiden is going to make it. I’m a backer for the record. =)

I’m really happy that one of the projects I backed on KS was funded today. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lastdream/last-dream-an-ode-to-classic-rpgs

It also hit the stretch goals too. ^^

      • bloodiOS

Can you close the PS4’s RAM comment section? It’s getting out of hands despite being a rumour…

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’ll have to take a look at it. I’ve been working all day.

          • bloodiOS

            Thanks, man.

    • Raiyu

I honestly forgot this movie was coming out. Thanks for reminding me.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m going to see it later today. ^^

  • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Removed that KH article. It was old news and I’m dumb sometimes.

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I think the editor@gematsu.com tip thing might be broken or something. I’ve sent in three recently, but none of them have gone through properly. I mean, the mail has sent, but you didn’t bother putting up the article for it, lol. I just sent you a link to the latest Pride of Justice clip and still nothing D:

Anyway, posting it here then. It’s a few days old now though. Tsk tsk.

            Thanks :3

So, show of hands here! Who else is playing Shadowrun Returns? It came out a couple of days ago. If you are playing it, what are your thoughts on it so far and have you played the SNES or Genesis versions (excluding the last Shadowrun game for PC since it was an FPS, lol)?

    • McPoo

I’ll be getting it on some sort of tablet. Ive heard mixed things, it’s gotten decent reviews but people seem to be saying its very linear, and there’s only really one ‘right’ way to play it,

I’m sure it’ll be good fun though. Nowhere near as fun as Shadowrun on PC 360, but then what is? That game is pretty much perfect.

    • Elvick

I need to install it… thanks for the reminder!

it looks like i haven’t been active so much in gematsu :(

been watching tons of anime and visiting sites like allgamesbeta and ncloudblogspot.

just finished Ghost in the Shell movie, it’s remaster version(2.0) and Innocence(sequel)

amazing stuff!! even though i prefer the Stand Alone Complex the films are amazing on its own!!!

will watch the “Absolute Edition” of Innocence, which is a much better blu ray quality that the normal blu ray release of Innocence.

i also notice @zerorpg:disqus is catching up on the top comments :O

i won’t let you have my throne!!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I suppose a Welcome back of sorts is appropriate. WB buddy. =)

Truth moment! I just checked the top comment thing. I didn’t realize I was even close to the top. No joke. Congrats for sitting in first place!

No worries! I’m not looking to take the throne lol.

      • PrinceHeir

        thanks!

don’t worry you can take it whenever you want, but i won’t give up that easily!!

i’ve been sitting on that throne for almost a year now so i think it’s time for a new one to sit on it XD

actually i just noticed just now we both misspelled “throne” as “thrown”

i stealth edit mine as soon as i notice yours XD

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Fixed mine. I don’t remember typing that. I wonder if spell check did something funny? lol

          • PrinceHeir

lol i think my error may have influence you on writing it that way XD

so what games are you playing nowadays?

i’ve been watching tons of anime’s.

i’ll probably wait for Dragon’s Crown, Tales of Xillia, and Killer is Dead ^^

  • PrinceHeir

    and It begins……

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=635716

seriously this fuck heads will never learn huh?

Dragon’s Crown and now Killer is Dead(as expected)

this is why idiots like this guy will be the reason why we can never have games like Senran Kagura(i fucking want Shinovi Versus and Burst soo fucking badly!)

funny thing is Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is coming out on september yet i don’t see any one bitching on that one.

they have even more “revealing” and sexy outfits than Killer is Dead, yet it gets a pass.

and what’s wrong with sexy and “revealing” outfits? this is just a fucking game and Killer is Dead gigolo mode is not even the main purpose of the game(just a side mode)

ohhhh guns, blood, cutting, heads flying off, swearing, cursing and it’s all good!

but sexy clothes, bouncy boobs, hot girls. ohh wow ban this filth! think of our children!!

if you don’t like it then don’t fucking buy it.

and this is why consoles being Region Free is a must, we have soo many many many ignorant dumb idiots spreading bullshit like this all around.

    • 罪罰

Well that guy just ruined his journalist career spouting misinformation that even an actual XSEED employee had to come up and rectify his stupid ass just makes it more hilarious. Not to mention that he goes over the line and just tells a very respected and fun caring developer to stop doing his job is borderline rage inducing. Suda is one cool dude, fuck this guy.

      • PrinceHeir

        fucking agree.

fuck this guy and the douchebag kotaku shit that wrote the Dragon’s Crown article

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m not watching that guy’s video review. Sounds like he just didn’t like the game and decided to rage on it for anything.

It’s just really silly. I mean, the XSEED employee basically owned him so it’s really all over but the lulz.

My opinion? Who really cares? I know I don’t. I’m going to buy the game at launch, nothing this guy says will change that.

      • PrinceHeir

        *HIGH FIVES!

gonna buy the hell out of this game.

US, then either Asian or Japan version.

though it’s a shame people like that douchebag is spreading false information out there to get some “spotlight”

oh well sooo many attention whores nowadays.

    • Sae-Won Yoon

I’ll never get this televangelism bullshit.

Why review a game if you’re not intent on having legitimate constructive criticisms?
The fact they let DOA5 a pass yet get all kinds of anal on KID is not surprising, it’s sad and more importantly; hypocritical.

If Kotaku doesn’t step up if ever, fucking shut it down and let some actual review site with some actual fucking dignity review these games.

      • PrinceHeir

i really doubt Kotaku care either way.

heck they wrote the Dragon’s Crown article as a way to generate views and traffic on their site.

i actually don’t mind DOA5, i just don’t like that if DOA5 get’s a pass, why not Killer is Dead and Dragon’s Crown as well?

        fucking hypocrites.

    • Luna Kazemaru

welcome to the world of anita’s white knights

      • MosquitoLemon

I have to agree with that, I don’t think what Anita does is bad (it’s actually pretty tame – I wish I could garner as much hate, love, and celebrity by copy-pasting TVtropes), but the shallow people who have misinterpreted it as, “If I find a videogame girl attractive the game must be the devil!!! They’re trying to get my money through my penis!!!! AHHH sexism!!” are pretty obnoxious.

The only terrible real-life consequence of all of this is that people will support crappy indie games because they are ‘socially conscious’, while actual small-time devs that still have to deal with the business side of things (like, having to make a good product VS getting pity dollars through kickstarter) are get crushed in sales.

    • Pyrofrost

That bullshit reviewer, internet feminazis, and the feminazi white knights ALL can fuck off into space!

      that is all

    • Elvick

People are way too sensitive toward “sexism” in games.

This kind of thing is like when a derpy minority would say RE5 was racist.

      It’s ridiculous.

      • PrinceHeir

lol i still can’t believe what has happened in RE5.

so i guess killing those spanish people in RE4 is “okay” huh?

        fucking hypocrites

    • MosquitoLemon

Nah man, none of that matters because the games will sell like crazy either way. I’m a little worried about Dragon’s Crown, just because apparently ‘fun beat-em-ups’ is a niche genre now, but if it doesn’t sell it’s not going to be because of what some dude thought of the artwork.

    • Kobracon

That vid was extremely disappointing. I love Matt’s vids, all those Abridge vids, hilarious, but this was just so disappointing and unprofessional of him…

    • bloodiOS

Not sure how but I totally overlooked your comment (gotta get my mind out of the clouds…) Anyway, wow man, I really pity that narrow-minded bastard.

  • Dandelion

Is DanganRonpa got same dev’s from Zero escape? Is it good?

Any recommendation for good mystery or psychological visual novels??

  • Raiyu

I’m almost finished all of Kamen Rider, just have to watch the Kiva, Agito, Ryuki movies, finish last 5 episodes of Hibiki+movie, Onigami Warship, Chou Den-O movie trilogy and Decade: Final Chapter. I have a question though, I kinda spoiled myself a bit and found out DiEnd also has a Complete Form like Decade. But his Final Form Rides are apparently based on movie villains? Why? Wouldn’t be more sense that they be secondary riders? I mean he may be an ass sometimes but he’s not a villain.

    • Revorse

But he was SOOOO much an ass, even if he was cool. He could have easily been an actual villian.

      • Raiyu

I know he’s an ass but I don’t think he deserves this treatment.

Plus I’d like for secondary riders to get some exposure…just doesn’t seem right.

  • bloodiOS

Anyone here saw The Conjuring? I thought it was a pretty good movie.

    • AnimusVox

I did. I like the way James Wan directs his films and the cinematography. I also enjoyed it, it was better than I expected.

  • Kefkiroth

Anyone else hyped for the Danganronpa localization?
I’m playing through the PSP version now (just finished chapter 2), and I must say it is miles better than the anime; it goes much more in-depth on the characters than the way the anime just rushes through introducing them to you.
It definitely has a feel of 999/VLR and Ace Attorney mixed together. It’s probably shaping up to be one of my favorite adventure games.

    • Solomon_Kano

I certainly am. I’ve been interested in playing it for a long time now, so I’m very much looking forward to getting my hands on it next year.

  • zakou

Looking back now at 2006-2009 maybe even 2010, the PS3 lacked not only games but jrpgs (one of the strongest playstation genre). Watching the new Sen No Kiseki made me think how wrong i was of judging the PS3 in it’s early years.

With countless jrpg lineup and even surprise annoucements like Drakengard 3, the PS3 is the king of consoles for me (a huge amout of my PS3 libary out of 100 games over 50% are jrpgs).

I say this because of my personal lack of interest in the PS Vita, it has some amazing games already release on it i know but compared to the PS3 and the PSP it looks like a joke “imo”.

If the Tales Of “R” Vita games got localized i wouldn’t even think and just buy the Vita already, inb4 “Persona 4 Golden” Yes the one game that’s probably enough to buy a vita for and that is if you have not played and beaten P4 already on the PS2 a couple of times, then you only get like half of whats the new contents worth if not less.

But just like the PS3 i hope it gets some new and unique jrpgs come out for the Vita and i don’t really count the Cross-PS3 games, remakes/expansion packs of the games like disgaea or FFX HD that looks and sounds better on the PS3 anyways so i play them on the PS3.

    • Elvick

It’s pointless to compare a system that’s been out for a little over a year worldwide, to one that’s life cycle has ‘ended’ (though still getting games from Japan… and the odd sports game/licensed game in the west) and to one that’s been out for over 6 years.

I will never understand comparing systems this way. If you compare the PSP/PS3’s same time frame to the Vita’s then sure, fair comparison. But otherwise, it’s just pointless. Would be like comparing PS4 to PS3 right now.

And Disgaea on handhelds >>>>>>> consoles. Always. It’s yet to be seen if D4 will look worse on Vita, it’s doubtful. D3 didn’t, but that used the old engine and sprites. As for sound… headphones. Tada.

      • Pyrofrost

Using logic…on the internet…WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!

      • zakou

I’m not sure if the Vita can output 1080p, not that it needs to but playing on such a small screen reading all that tiny text in disgaea is ok i guess but it’s still better in a big tv with sharp graphics and text in 1080p with full hd pixels.

Small screens are better than TV for SD disgaea games like the PSP disgaea games, i rather play PSP disgaea games than the PS2 disgaea games on big tv with pixelated SD sprites.

Disgaea games on consoles are better, 5.1 surround sound with subwoofer, true motion 800hz tv make games look better than they already are.

Anyways you must be missing something if you think D4 will look better on a handheld than a 40+ full hd tv with 5.1 speakers and features that make games look better.

On a side note i can’t belive how amazing The last of us looks on a 800 hz tv with true motion features, i have a normal 1080p tv and tried it on both, when i play it on the 800hz tv it really looks like something that belongs on a PS4.

5.1 system beats headphones anytime even if you are using 7.1 virtual sound headphones, this is a fact unless you have hearing problems or can’t afford better sound system.

  • DichaTesoro

There’s just one more week until Tales of Xillia’s release! I’m just super excited here! I’m playing FF13 at the moment and hope to finish it before I get Xillia…kind of stuck on defeating Vanille’s eidolan though.

Also, took my Hope figure to work today.

    • SolarisSpell

      That’s a nice pic!

I may one of the few who actually liked FFXIII. Very much. I’ve seen some comments about Hecatonchier, but I’m probably not fitted to give you profund advice as it was easy to me, so I didn’t experience it’s power (maybe I was overleveled…).

What I can tell you, and hope it helps,is that defeating an eidolon has nothing to do with damaging it but increasing it’s stagger bar (but primarily with the principal paradigm of that character). So, to defeat Hecatonchier, have Vanille constantly as Baboteur (don’t use auto version, as you don’t really need to affect it with status, so spend all your ATB repeating one skill). Have Fang as Sentinel an a third character as Healer. If you feel you are healed enough yo can have your third character help with Ravager or maybe Fang as Sabotuer. Simply remember that you don’t need to damage Hecatonchier, you just need to use skills against it.

Aaaand, back on topic. I’m also interested in getting Tales of Xillia. It’s strange, as I usually feel that Tales games should be fun, but somehow I don’t get to understand them or… I don’t know, but I have not been able to finish them. I’ve played Symphonia, Eternia, Abyss and Vesperia. Maybe it’s just my mood during my play time. I hope I am able to enjoy Xillia, as it seems interesting.

      • Azuardo

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you only use Fang and Vanille in the Hecatoncheir fight. So yeah, constant paradigm switching is in order to keep healed. I remember struggling for a while on that one, so keep at it!

        • SolarisSpell

          Actually… I don’t remember XD

That may simplify things. Vanille HEA and Fang SEN until Fang is full live (as the beginning of the battle is when you are hardly hitted) and then Vanille SAB and Fang SEN, getting back to HEA SEN when neccesary. I don’t remember ever attacking with Fang…

Sorry, my memory is not that great (wich allows me to replay games as if they were new ^_^)

          • DichaTesoro

I cannot seem to get the eidolan to stagger. I start off as SAB and SAB, then MED and SEN, RAV and COM….switching back and forth between a lot of paradigms throughout, trying to stagger the thing. The gestalt meter is almost full once the death counter is finished every time I lose. I’ve been grinding, thinking that it will make Vanille’s magicks stronger/faster, maybe I just need her leveled higher. This is the only eidolan that has given me trouble. I’ll have to try again later after work. Thanks.
I don’t get what people don’t like about FF13 much either. It’s fun. May just be that it does not feel like a Final Fantasy much. I think it kind of does, just a new generation (duh).

And thanks for the compliment on the photo. I took a few more: Hope’s day at the library. One of the customers were laughing at a volunteer and me when we were setting up a scene(?), I may post them all to Tumblr when I’m done editing them.

Oh, and Tales! I love all the Tales game I’ve played and beaten them multiple times (except Graces). I find the battle system the best thing about the series, it’s very fun. I do hope you can get into Xillia, it does look really good.

            • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Since it’s been a while since I’ve played FF13. I decided to pull out my guide and take a quick photo. (Pic is below.)

This is the page which features strategy on that specific boss battle. Hecatoncheir

For this fight, you will likely need to set up specific Paradigm’s just fot it.

Stumbling Block (Paradigm) is Sentinel (Fang) and Saboteur (Vanille)
Lifeguard is Sentinel (Fang) and Medic (Vanille)
Slash and Burn is Commando (Fang) and Ravager (Vanille)
Arcane Defense is Ravager (Vanille) and Sentinel (Fang)

These are the four the guide references in the battle strategy. You don’t have to worry much about the equip suggestion, but if you follow the strategy with those paradigm’s, you should be fine.

Here is the picture. Fair warning, this is a really big image. I kept it that way so you can hopefully read most of it with ease.

              http://i.picpar.com/hIs.jpg

I hope this helps. One more tip. I highly suggest using Fang the entire game. She plays every role very well, she doesn’t really have a weakness, which makes her great for a wide variety of battles. She is also really awesome and stuff. xD

              • DichaTesoro

As soon as I read your comment I went straight to the game. I beat the eidolan, finally! Thank you so much, man! Now I can get on with my life :). (I feel so lame getting stuck on that)
Fang is really cool—I want her figure too but it’s so expensive—but I only always keep her in my party. I prefer magic users and use Hope. He’s probably overpowered with the accessories he’s equipped with.
                Thanks again!

                • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Awesome! Congrats! You’re Welcome. I’m really glad I could help out.

Everyone gets stuck on boss fights every now and then, it’s not lame. It just makes finally succeeding that much sweeter. =)

Fang is most likely my favorite character in the 13 series. She is really awesome. =)

Are you going to continue playing the game?

                  • DichaTesoro

I’m going to continue it, yeah…already put in 40+ hours since I started it. I don’t know about the sequels though.

                    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I think it gets better as you get further in the game. So much of it unlocks late in the game. Just my opinion. ^^

            • SolarisSpell

I really liked that foto. I always try to pose my figurines similiar to the character (normally as pictured in their box, well except for Zack and Aerith which I have holding hands), but I think your Hope is great.

About FFXIII. It’s not the game I thought it would be nor what I was expecting, so I simply accepted for what it is and really enjoy it.

For your battle, forget about RAV/COM, as you don’t need to damage Hecatonchier. You don’t eve have to stagger it (it cannot be). You just have to incrase your synchro by using your prefered skills against it. By the way, remember that the character to whom the eidolon belong increases it’s synchro more than other characters (for exaplme, during Odin fight if Lightning cast Thunder it gives more synchro than if Hope cast Thunder), so your objective is having Vanille casting as much spell as possible. SAB role gives you a lot of synchro and RAV role a little less (but i *think*, not sure, that using yor SAB role with a higher stagger % gives you more synchro).

So, if you start with Fang as SEN it allows you to not have to lose timer healing her. Having a SAB SAB is, in theory, nice for your synchro, but it’s probably unproductive as you will be hardly damaged and then will lose time recovering. So, personally, I would try SAB SEN until you affect Hecatonchier with all possible status, will change to RAV SEN for a little stagger increase and will go back to SAB SEN using your SAB manually (because auto version will try only to renew status and you don’t need it, you just need to cast spells). Change to HEA SEN when necessary and, ifyou are getting close to be out of time, try SAB SAB….

I know I won’t be getting Xillia right now, but maybe I will in october, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll try to adapt my mood when playing it inmerse myself in it’s scenario. Maybe I’ll finally will get into Tales games.

  • Adurna012

I know I’m probably alone, but I would absolutely love to see a Paper Mario 64 HD remake. I just adore that game. Don’t even care if they added new content. I just want that game on the Wii U. Heck, make it even better and put TTYD on there too!

  • McPoo

Which genre has the worst community: fighting games or JRPGs?

Both seem to be filled with rude, obnoxious people. Fighting games have the elitist attitude, but JRPGs seem to be stuck in a bubble from 1997.

It’s a tough call, but I’d go with fighting games. Opinions?

    • Pyrofrost

You realize what gaming site you’re on, right?

I don’t know if you’re just trolling or what, but you’re only opening yourself up to be attacked when you post something like that.

      • McPoo

Well even if the majority of the site enjoys these two genres, surely they’re able to distance themselves enough to make an informed decision.

And if they aren’t then they simply don’t have to reply. Do you have a decision out of the two?

        • Pyrofrost

If I were to personally say, it would be neither of the two.

It would actually be the bro-gamer/mainstream gamer community. As they have actually done the most damage to the industry as a whole imo.

          • McPoo

I did consider putting FPS community in but I’ve never found them as rude or obnoxious as the other two. At the very least they’re only active on the games themselves, so you can just mute them. The other two frequent message boards a lot more, making them harder to ignore.

That’s beside the point though, but thanks for getting involved xox

            • Pyrofrost

No problem, and just to make sure you understand, I wasn’t attacking you in my first post or anything.

              • McPoo

                I know, we’re all m8s here #love

            • Charlie

Really? All I’ve seen from the FPS community is racism, sexism and belligerence. But I do agree with your former statement, SOME fighting game enthusiasts do have an elitist attitude.

              • McPoo

I never really got anything like that from the Fps crowd, although I know it’s a common perception.

I’ve always found the 2 communities mentioned to be more hostile and rude.

                • Pyrofrost

As a very hardcore JRPG gamer (ie: JRPGs make-up over 90% of my library), I can tell you now that it’s more about that group just being loaded with passion for what they love.
When it comes to things people are really loaded with passion about, they can be hostile at times. However, they only really get that way when their position is challenged. This goes for anyone who wears their emotions on their sleeve.
They aren’t that way all the time, and it’s not with malicious intent.

I’m as passionate as they come about JRPGs; however, I just don’t get involved when someone challenges my position. I’m to old for that shit, and I don’t have time for petty internet debates. Mainly because they are a complete waste of time.

We all have different experiences, I guess.

              • MosquitoLemon

I have three friends who are really into FPS, one is a girl and the other two are guys, all of them minority (black/hispanic). They say racism isn’t a huge problem unless it’s some obnoxious little kid, but the girl says she gets sexist crap all the time.

And for the most part they say most people are cool about playing – ‘shit-talk’ is par for the course, and everyone understand it, just not when it’s blatantly personal like saying, ‘oh this girl must be mad ugly if she’s playing games’ as she’s wasting them :

                • McPoo

I don’t think sexism is exclusive to FPS games, if that’s what you’re implying?

It’ll be found in every genre, although I guess it’d be more prevalent on online gaming, of which there are a ton of FPS games.

                  • MosquitoLemon

I’m implying that most people hear people complaining about FPSs and just assume it’s (online play) a cesspool like reddit or 4chan. No doubt it would be the same across all genres. I mean why don’t we throw MMO players in there as well.

                • Charlie

I don’t mind back-chatting some morons when I play online gaming, it’s part of the fun. But there’s a thin line between joking and being offensive.

              • Luna Kazemaru

you act like that’s the only community that acts that way some people really shouldn’t assume everyone is like that because they play a few games with idiots

                • Charlie

I’m talking about the majority here, not ever single player.

    • Elvick

All genres have rude, obnoxious people.

      • MosquitoLemon

As my friend often says, “All fandoms suck. End of story.”

      • McPoo

Oh I completely agree. It’s just that from personal experience, these two have more of them.

    • MosquitoLemon

I think the problem here is that you’re confusing “communities” with, “I spend all my time on the internet and base everything I see on what people bitch about there.” Go outside and meet people who play either type of game, and they are both fairly normal.

Fighting game people like to talk a lot of strategy, and if you’re not deep into a game (like you played SFII once in 1994 because you had coins burning a hole in your pocket VS they spend time analyzing frame data), it can be annoying trying to converse with them about games.

JRPG people (which I don’t even think constitutes a ‘people’) are like normal gamers, but instead of only having played a few popular titles (FFVII, Persona 3, and Ni no Kuni!), they’ve played a ton of them. Those games require their own time-investment, and usually aren’t played with other people… so yeah.

But yeah, if you want my opinion on what group of internet gamers is the worst, it’s Kotaku people. People that think gaming is art, that their ‘hobby’ is some castle they need to protect with their useless English degrees, who probably don’t like playing games as much as complaining about them, etc. -___-

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

For the record… I’m honestly surprised he left out ‘FPS’ ._.

        • McPoo

          I explained why below :)

      • http://www.linkedin.com/pub/matthew-frassetti/77/7a6/b44/ Matthew Frassetti

Just a question, do you think games aren’t art?

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

That’s a great question in my opinion.

        • MosquitoLemon

I think certain aspects of game development are an ‘art form’, as almost anything that requires some measure of skill can be, but in the sense that art is something that is intellectually challenging, that you have to engage with on a different level than regular media… they are absolutely not.

There are certain ‘games’ that have been designed specifically as new media art (I’m talking about specific indie titles), but I wouldn’t take a commercial game and retroactively try to break it down as art (as many have with titles like Shadow of the Colossus or segments of the Mother series).

You can say I’m just mincing definitions but go and test the convictions of anyone who tries to call videogames art. I can use the same exact arguments they use to talk about how anything is art – sports, road construction, political maneuverings… and at that point if they admit that everything is art – why does it matter what is and isn’t considered art?

          • http://www.linkedin.com/pub/matthew-frassetti/77/7a6/b44/ Matthew Frassetti

Because art is something that represents our culture as a whole on a level that might transcend time. The reason why we look at art from the time periods and cultures before ours is because it gives us an idea of who those people were, what they valued, how they lived their lives, etc. To say that it doesn’t matter what people in the future are able to deduce from the findings of what we might have been, if we were ever obliterated into cosmic nothingness, is a completely valid point. I personally don’t care in that regard, I just care about the present.

I care about individual art forms because they are relevant to us now. Games are a representation of us as people, and the kinds of games you play might be representative of you individually. I won’t say that something that is “art” is better than something that is not, but I still think it matters that we look at art as a form of self expression for the artist and the observer, because there are many things to take and benefit from within individual pieces.

Of course, there’s a lot of different cogs in this machine, and it’s impossible to talk about all of them here, but there is a lot that I agree with and disagree with in your viewpoint.

            • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, see I don’t agree with your definition that art is a representation of who people are. Again, to me, art is something that you have to engage with on a level that you can’t with most mass media. Not because there isn’t any value in that media (which includes most games), but because it wasn’t created for that purpose.

Please tell me what it is you disagree with, because I didn’t see anything like that in your reply.

              • http://www.linkedin.com/pub/matthew-frassetti/77/7a6/b44/ Matthew Frassetti

Well, I definitely disagree with video games not being something that you can’t be engaged with on a deeper level than most media. There are a lot of games that have a lot to say, especially if you actually begin to think about all of the individual pieces that come together to make some of these games. A games like Call of Duty doesn’t offer any level of this depth, but there are a ton of games that go much deeper than just it being a game. Just like other arts, there’s a degree of critical thinking that can be applied to a lot of these games. I deem games like Super Metroid, Majora’s Mask, Jet Set Radio Future as well as many others to be games that have so much more to offer in terms of what someone could draw from these as experiences.

I also disagree with the sentiment that you can just challenge the notions of what makes other things art to belittle games as art. If there are people who consider that sports and road construction are artforms, then I would have to disagree with them as well. Again, there’s no clear cut definition, but I do believe that art must be engaged with on another level, and I do believe there are a lot of games that are able to do that.

                • MosquitoLemon

So your problem is that you think if we don’t call games art, people aren’t going to take them as seriously? Yet you’re fine with Call of Duty not being called art, even though it is a game, and one that offers experiences just as emotional and significant as all the others you mentioned (I’m referring to Modern Warfare 1, because I’ve never played any others)? That sounds more like videogame elitism than it does someone who wants games to be given the same type of critical analysis as a poem, painting, structure, performance piece, etc.

And therein lies my problem. I feel like a lot of people (the type of people that I think Kotaku commenters represent) are worried about people thinking their 20-page Majora’s Mask essay is stupid because “Oh games aren’t art and shouldn’t be taken seriously!”. Do you really think artists in the past, especially those in experimental movements, were deterred by what other people thought of them? I really don’t see the stakes in elevating the status of games to art vs allowing it to be what it is – commercial entertainment.

                  • http://www.linkedin.com/pub/matthew-frassetti/77/7a6/b44/ Matthew Frassetti

I never said that I think games won’t be taken seriously if we don’t refer to them as art. I also never actually said anything about emotional experiences. Just because a game has an emotional, moving story, doesn’t necessarily make the game a piece of art. In fact, the first game I mentioned, Super Metroid, doesn’t even have anything close to a compelling emotional story.

                    • MosquitoLemon

                      Alright, then be more clear

      • McPoo

Well maybe my wording was wrong then. I meant more the ‘hardcore’ section of each community, which I think is quite a chunk for these two genres in particular.

On a side note, I’ve never had a problem with people talking strategy for fighting games. I think they’re the worst for sending angry/boastful messages, rage quitting and are quite intolerant of people that are new.

        • MosquitoLemon

LOL, I got one message that was like ‘yo that move you kept doing was cheap’, so I replied ‘yeah I know, but you kept running into it over and over and over and over, so I figured it would be an easy way to win. Sidestep next time…’ and the dude was cool with it, hahaha.

  • Zuhri69

I think the next gen preview ruined gaming for me. Now whenever I turn on my PS3, there’s this lingering thoughts in my mind saying this will never be as good as the PS4 games and such and it saddens me because there’s a lot Ps3 games I am currently anticipating and now I no longer have the heart to buy it.

I just hope that when I get Tales of Xillia, I will focus on it rather than thinking all these next gen promises.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

But but but… There are good games on any console D:

      • Zuhri69

I agree. That’s the thing. I can not help but think about next gen, even though not much has been shown. God, I hate myself.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, I guess I can understand. I get like that sometimes when a new game is coming out soon. I kind of lose interest in the games I’m currently playing because I’m ready to play the game I’m waiting for (which in this case would be Killer is Dead and Mind-0 in a few days~!).

I know it’s difficult to keep your mind off of something, but just don’t let the future control how you have fun in the present.

          • Zuhri69

Yup, so I decided to just play Kamen Rider Battride War. At times like this, such game would shine.

    • Cry_Zero

4 words which should change your mind: The Last Of Us

      • Zuhri69

That’s a great game, but it’s way too intense for me. I’ll get back to it one day, definitely. But, at the moment, it’s too intense. Hahaha.

        • Cry_Zero

If youre gonna play it then do it on SURVIVOR mode. THATS INTENSIVE!!!!!!
EDIT: And the Multiplayer is just phenomenal

          • Zuhri69

Hahaha, yeah. I’ll definitely getting back to it one day.

    • Pyrofrost

Before knowing about the PS4, did you feel that all games made before the PS3 are not as good as PS3 games?

Personally, I can think of older gen PS1 and PS2 games that are better than what the entire PS3 library.has to offer.

      • Zuhri69

Hahaha, that’s the thing. I don’t know. It looks good but I know nothing else. And I can not help but think about it.

        • Pyrofrost

Ah, new gen anticipation. It’s a wonderful feeling huh?

          • Zuhri69

Yup, but at the same time, it’s killing me. May the future of gaming be bright, always.

    • OverlordZetta

I kind of know how you feel. I never used to care about graphics and things like that, but ever since I started playing Vita games I’ve found it really hard to go back and play PSP games.

      • Zuhri69

        Thanks for understanding.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I understand. It’s sorta like trying to watch a black and white movie these days. The mind can often times try and associate something in black and white with something of lesser quality. It’s not even in color! It can’t be that good! etc.

Another example – Trying to go back and play classic games with super retro graphics. It’s easy to take one look at the old visuals and have your brain turn off switches right away. I can’t play something this old! etc.

I try to cancel out those lingering thoughts. I also try and place myself in the period when the game/movie/whatever was made. It helps when I get my mind focused on this.

Why? It helps me appreciate the classics, things I missed when I was young, or things that were simply before my time.

It also helps to focus on other things. I can replay certain games just based on the music. The music is so good it puts me into the proper mood.

The proper mood is also important. Some try and act like this isn’t the case, but I think it is, I think it’s crucial. If you have a crap day or feel awful, just about every game you play is most likely going to suck. It’s usually not the games fault, rather, you just can’t really enjoy anything in such a mood.

Anyways… I’m sorta rambling here. Food for thought. I understand how you feel though. =)

      • Zuhri69

Hahaha, thanks. Anyway, as you said, I think it’ll subside once I found a focus to fill my head.

        • Pyrofrost

You should play Final Fantasy XIV when it comes out. Yeah, you have to pay a subscription (which is very cheap) to play; however, it will give you plenty to do and it is downright addictive as hell.

          • Zuhri69

I might take you up on that offer. My wallet really not liking me this month.

  • Alos88

So I’ve been playing MGS2 and I’ve just defeated Genola on the VR missions. Aside from one sniping mission I’ve been getting through it fairly quickly. Can anyone who has completed all the VR missions tell me which ones will be the hardest from here?

  • Azuardo

Decided to see if I can finish Banjo-Tooie again. Also started to slowly work through Okami HD, and Ni No Kuni arrived too, so I will be starting that soon.

  • Pyrofrost

Haven’t done this in a while. So here it goes~

What are you guys playing this weekend?

I’m over here, pounding away at SMTIV. I’m absolutely LOVING this game!

    • Elvick

      Nothing. My thumb hurts, I think it’s from playing too much Vita. Not really sure. But pressure on my thumb = pain, so… D;

If it didn’t, I’d finish the arcade mode (two characters left) of PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale.

Then play some more Time and Eternity. (I’m enjoying it so far, definitely flawed and there’s some weird animation decisions but for a “first of it’s kind” it’s done pretty well.)

      • Pyrofrost

Glad to see you’re enjoying Tokitowa Elvick.
You’re playing it with an open mind, and I like that ^^

Also, if you’re planning to go for plat or anything, it’s something you can do comfortably. You only need two playthroughs.

        • Elvick

At this point, I’m considering going for the platinum. Not really sure yet.

I think my main complaint for the game so far is the ‘main’ character. He’s just so annoying. D:<

I need to look into what's needed for the platinum. I keep trying to get that combo trophy, but keep failing. I grinded out that 20 wins in a row trophy in the first area, since those enemies were super easy. And I figured they couldn't be that easy in the future… (and I was right…xP)

I just want to avoid spoilers. Are all the hidden trophies story related ones?

          • Pyrofrost

Yeah, and I can give you an idea of what they are without spoiling anything for you. The hidden ones from what I remember are story based (4), ending based (3), love gauge (2), lvl 70 (1), and I think the plat is hidden.

The number equals the number of trophies based on each thing.

The only one that gave me any trouble was the bentos. You will see why when you get there, and if you need assistance, just let me know. As far as the combo trophy, you will get an ability that will make this trophy a piece of cake :3

    • OverlordZetta

Playing Disgaea 3 and Muramasa back and forth on my Vita and thoroughly enjoying them both. Slowly working up the courage to play DE8, but I kind of want to save it until after Dragon’s Crown comes out.

    • new_tradition

I’m finally going to try to play God Eater Burst. I bought it off PSN…sooooo long ago, but I never got around to playing past the tutorials. Now all this hype around GE2 has reawakened my interest (plus having to remind myself I really need to get through this massive backlog).

I was playing SMT4, but I left it alone for a while so I felt lost. Plus I wasn’t super confident with how I allocated stats, so I think I’ll just start a new game at another time (though Nocturne and other SMT games need to get knocked off my backlog too, lol ;A;)

I’m probably gonna play more SSX this weekend. I bought it, after all *sigh*
I finished the little story mode fairly easily and started in on random runs in the explore mode.

There are actually a lot of things I love about the game, like when you navigate the crazy (and often amazing-looking) landscapes well… and the geotag thing – while I don’t love game components that require online – I could write a whole essay on. It’s like when I played Wave Race 64 or Mario 64 with my friends and we set up random challenges for each other. This feature needs to be in more games!

On the other hand, the things I don’t like are still an issue for me. Like making the slightest movement on the stick sends your boarder flying off in a wonky direction, making it far-too difficult to hit certain jumps the way you want to. This aspect isn’t really about difficulty and mastery of the game so much as it is an element that didn’t seem to receive a lot of attention during development. It’s almost as if they compensated for, “you’re always gonna be flying off a cliff!” with, “hey you can rewind everything you do!”. Rewind is cool, having it be a necessity isn’t…

And the last thing is that their mountain-mapping technology creates cool landscapes, but does not create cool video game stages. SSX mountains have always been kind-of a mess, but this game needs to be more Sonic The Hedgehog deliberate.

How can Naughty Dog top “The Last Of Us”? Is that even possible?

From Crash bandicoot to Jak and Daxter, and then to Uncharted, Naughty Dog is growing with its games and its fans.

If you have started playing Crash games when you were young like me and then grew up and played JnD and finally when you hit your 16-18s and played the Uncharted games and from there you grew older to your 18-20s and played The Last Of Us.

It’s like the older we got the older and more mature ND games got, to a point where “The Last Of Us” is one of the most if not the most brutal, mature, adult game to this date. And with amazing story at that.

This leaves me in thoughts: How can Naughty Dog top TLOU, I thought it was kinda impossible to make a better game than Uncharted series but TLOU alone beats the whole franchise imo. But now I kinda don’t know what they can do more “Adult” like, how can they grow this time?

My thoughts would be if they made a PS4 games based on world morals or something , like going to space, having to abandon the earth and it’s people, starting a new life one a new dangerous planet and sacrificing the eath maybe at some point? Sounds stupid or silli i know but that’s just an example, what are your thoughts?

    • Elvick

I have faith in ND to deliver.

    • Nice Boat

You mean a game with better mechanics or a game more mature? Still, I heard that the E3 version of TLoU offered a more challenging AI than the one in the game.

      • zakou

Mature, as you have notice ND’s games get more and more mature. (like what can get more mature/moral heavy than The Last Of Us.)

And by mature i can also mean better mechanics, due to how gory and mature TLOU the gameplay mechanic was better than their previous games like uncharted.

Legs and body parts flying when you set a trap/bomb or use a shotgun looks so realistic that i wish they would keep this mechanic and evolve it with their next game.

  • Gammer21

I would like to know, is tales of xillia going be more linear , or will it be open like tales of vesperia???

    • Pyrofrost

When did Tales of Vesperia become open world?
I played it in English and Japanese, both versions were equally linear.

      Yes, Xillia is also linear.

If you are talking about an overworld map that you can freely run around on like Vesperia; then no, Xillia doesn’t have that. However its zones to explore are plentiful and abundant.

      • Gammer21

Sorry meant over world thanks for the correction. Also thanks for the reply this has been my burning question. Well that is disappointing I miss overworlds in games.

        • AdamBoy64

Yes, I completely agree. Having an overworld really helps give the game a sense of adventure and travel.

I haven’t found a game without an overworld that could deliver that same experience.

Hey guys! Some of you might know me as a contributor here at Gematsu, writing some feature articles here and there. Just wanted to let you all know that I’m involved in a small Youtube series that was just started this week. We do a sort of unfiltered, comedy driven game news show and other videos. I’d like if you checked it out and showed some support! Thanks guys!

Any Kamen Rider/tokusatsu fans been keeping up with the news around Kamen Rider Gaim? With Gen Urobuchi taking over as lead writer for the series, it’s sure to be something spectacular, even with the whole fruit samurai thing going on.

    • Zuhri69

That’s the thing. While Urobochi produces many interesting plot devices, I find that his characters are rather uninteresting. And in my case, rather than the whole grey morality issues that he loves so, I just want to be engaged with the characters, understanding them, see them prevailed and win.

I could be wrong. In any case, I just hoped that in Gaim, he’ll make the characters more likeable.

      Just my two cents.

    • Revorse

I think Gaim could be pretty interesting. I’ve never seen any of Urobuchi’s work, so I can’t comment on that. But according to some net buzz I’ve been hearing he’s pretty dark. So I’m interested to see how that’ll work with the whole fruit and dance crew thing(I dislike the dancing part most about Gaim) It also seems like Gaim himself maybe another “idiot/happy-go-lucky” Rider.

We are a day (I think) from seeing who actually buy Atlus from Index Holdings. I’m trying to stay positive in this situation but it can be any company not just a game publisher so the gamble is eve bigger. I only play Atlus RPGs these days so this means a lot to me. (Some exceptions)

    • Gartender

What’s the worst that could happen? And I’m asking that seriously. The way I see it, it’s still Atlus making the games. And I don’t think that would change, even if it wasn’t a game publisher that bought the company.

      • Pyrofrost

It’s not like there is some kind of contract up for grabs, that the new company would have to honor. Index wholly owned Atlus. The new company will wholly own Atlus.

This leaves a lot of room for corporate tampering in various ways, restricted creativity, and at the very worst Atlus could eventually just be dissolved. Mind you, the latter is highly unlikely, it is a possibility. You just never know with these kinds of things. That’s why so many Atlus fans are on pins and needles about it.

Atlus has been part of Index since 2006; however, most people didn’t know about it until 2011. During that entire time, it was pretty much business as usual at Atlus; as Index pretty much let them have full creative freedom and allowed them to pretty much do as they please. While there was originally a WTF reaction from fans; nobody was really bothered by it for the reasons I mentioned. Many companies however, are not so generous. Which gives people who love Atlus a logical reason to worry about it.

    • GetOffMy_Lawn

Just out of curiosity, how do you know we have a day left? I was under the impression they were entertaining offers until September. I’m not giving you attitude or anything, I’m genuinely interested. Also, I know nothing about a company like this declaring bankruptcy and selling properties and all that… =)

      • 罪罰

I’ve seen various peeps saying they’ll start the auction in a few days, the sooner the better I make myself think.

Aw man…. Dynasty Warriors 8 is out (but not getting yet coz JP Voice DLC is out sometime next month), Dragon’s Crown as well as FFXIV next month.

    How f***ed is my wallet….

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m gonna drop like over $250 usd (most likely) on games in August. My wallet is furious.

      • zakou

I had to buy like 10 games in June-July and already pre ordered Tales Of Xillia for August so thats 11 games…

My wallet is crying, my PS3 is happy xD

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

My PS3 will also be happy, especially If I find the time to play all of these games. =)

      • GhostNomad

Likewise. Dragon’s Crown ($50 for PS3 and if I love it, another $40 for Vita), Tales of Xillia CE ($100), Saints Row IV Wub Wub Edition ($100), and Splinter Cell ($60 on PS3 but if my brother likes it, probably another $60 on PC)… Gonna be an expensive month… Hell, with the PS4 hopefully coming in November, fair to say the rest of the year will be expensive :D

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Both of our wallets are crying. xD

        • zakou

Don’t know if you already know this but if you have pre ordered the CE edition for Tales Of Xillia you can register yourself on facebook for a prize draw and chance to win TOX PS3 system and other prizes at: facebook(dot).com(slash)tales.

I personally didn’t pre order the CE edition as i think it is overpriced, here it costs 100 Euro, that’s what 132 bucks? Why would i bother just for Millia figurine to add in like 70 euros where i pre ordered day one edition for over 30 euros and get the OST/arbook and the game.

The rest 70 euros i just used to buy other games.

Phantasy Star Online Episode 2 report:

1- The Braver Class is awesome! It’s like a futuristic samurai class. This class use Katanas and Bows and it’s very fast. This class is Dex based on the most part and it has a passive that adds up to 50% of your MAG’s Dex to S and R attack stats. You may want to make a pure dex mag if this will be your main class.

2- The Dewman is a very good race but is not for gamers that are not that good evading on action games but on a skilled player is devastating. The difference between male and female is a point that is used on males on S attack while that point is used instead on S defense on females.

3- The new aquatic enemies at the beach planet are weak against fire and ice (yes I said ice).

4- the new Darker monsters on the beach planet look like the heartless from Kingdom Hearts a lot…

5- You can create a support partner that looks like a midget to do Client orders that are about collecting items for you. They level up by doing these.

6- Rare drops are now harder to miss as the symbol and word rare appears in front of you when a drop like this appear on the map.

Well that’s all and at this point I don’t want to play the USA version as SEGA has delayed it far too much and has been silent about it.

IMO When a company launch a MMO on multiple regions and on a region free platform, they need to do a global launch and do it on all regions at the same time.

    • MosquitoLemon

I don’t think there will even be a US version, but I do wish they would make one, because my friends aren’t going to buy the JP version.

      • LordKaiser

        It’s free.

        • MosquitoLemon

OK maybe I’m not sure of what game you’re talking about then.

edit – OH It’s Vita and PC only? Then I guess I’m the one who will never get to play it, hahaha.

          • LordKaiser
            • shogunknight

Yeah, currently playing this (Japanese Version). The Braver class is really good, takes a lot of damage. Im still using my Force class though, love the class.

              • LordKaiser

Kamisake Arrow FTW! I hope it don’t get nerfed…

Behold the power of the Braver Class! Well… the katana at least.

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of-lZ3KHrNo

                • shogunknight

Awesome, i doubt the class would be nerfed. Thats why they take more damage compared to other classes, unfortunately they dont have an advanced class like the Techer, Hunter and Gunner. Some people say its coming in the next month though, not sure

                  • LordKaiser

If I have to guess it’s advanced class may be a futuristic ninja with laser photon shurikens or something.

            • MosquitoLemon

Yes, it’s a PC/Vita-only game, my friend thought it was being released for PS3, but clearly not.

              • LordKaiser

                PC/Vita only but for now.

            • zakou

Wow this game looks freaking awesome :O

            • shogunknight

Fought that guy once, Vopar. I hope SEGA brings emergency quests in this stage also. Most of the time i just do Border Break missions and some time attack to get meseta

          • LordKaiser

I can see SEGA porting this to PS4 in the future. SEGA is porting it to phones I saw somewhere. The PSN nad Vita accounts are tied up. You can’t use your PC account to Vita or the other way around but everyone can play on the 200+ blocks together.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m still trying to hold out for the western version. I’m very frustrated with Sega. I feel like if some of us don’t support the western version, when they finally get it out here, the low amount of players will lead to them cancelling it. Then, they will blame us, tell us we didn’t support it, etc.

If that happens, they might not ever localize another Phantasy Star game ever again. Just look at what’s happening with other Sega games.

      Sigh… =/

Looks like FEZ II is cancelled.

  • GhostNomad

So guys and girls, I have this issue with judging a book by its cover and I seem to be repeating the same mistake over and over.

After falling for the hype on release and picking up P4G, never playing it, and then selling it to a friend shortly after because of lost interest… I’ve picked it up for $20 off PSN. I have no idea what possessed me to be interested in that game again, but I jumped in, and here I am, 30 hours later kicking myself in the ass every step of the way for never having played this earlier. I love the story, but I also love the freedom of spending time with the various friends/activities. I’m getting the feeling that there’s WAY too much to do in the game for a 100% run, but this game is so enjoyable that I have nothing against replaying it and making different decisions along the way, seeing the different endings and such.

Now, this issue has been with me for a long time, and the stupid thing is that the very games I ignore based on that momentary judgement end up being some of the most entertaining games I’ve EVER played. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a dudebro who only plays CoD or anything like that. I love everything about games (except overpriced Downloadable Content and Disk-Locked Content), and I love all kinds of games.

If it wasn’t for my awesome friends, I would’ve missed out on RDR, Nier, God Eater Burst, The World Ends With You, Disgaea, Parasite Eve, and a WHOLE lot of other games.

Point being, games are awesome, and judging a book by its cover will hold you back from potentially wonderful experiences, and while this is a lesson I’ve learned a long time ago, it seems there’s more work to be done :D

    • LordKaiser

I wanted the blue 3DS bundle but now it’s a piece of collection. I don’t play portables but for some games I guess that I have not other choice.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

The bundle seems to be pretty tough to find these days.

        • LordKaiser

And the few ones at Amazon and Ebay are $320+ USD or more. I liked that blue and the sword design.

    • SolarisSpell

I’ve not played any Fire Emblem as I usually am not able to enjoy then, with the exception of FFTactics (but Advance versions didn’t semm my type) and Disgaea! (love Disgaea :D).

So I’m curious, how is this game? Gameplay, Story-wise or character… What shoul I expect if I give this a try?

      Thanks

      • z_merquise

Gameplay-wise, it’s simple, fast-paced but it have tactical depth and very deep customization. Highly-replayable too.

Story isn’t anything special but it have some plot twists here and there. But the characters, for me, is what standout. What’s good is that each character can build relationship with other characters via Support Conversations.

I also like the character art and that’s more because I’m a fan of the character designer Yusuke Kozaki (from No More Heroes).

There’s a demo available for the game if you at least want to try it.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I think @z_merquise:disqus said it better than I could. I haven’t played enough of the game to give a detailed report. I’m a fan of the series, so I expect it will just get better as I play.

I love me some Final Fantasy Tactics. Especially the original first game.

    • new_tradition

Oooh, you still got the preorder artbook? Nice ^^

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

        Thanks. =) I got lucky.

    • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

I really envy you guys who lived in America. You get games on release date and bonus if pre-order at selected retailer. We get games 1 day late and more if you lived far from city because of shipping which could take a week, and for the pre-order bonus at Amazon or GameStop we have to rely on forwarder for it and usually it takes double the price of the original games.

Oh and I’m not trying to make you feel bad or anything :D
I haven’t beat this game yet. Hope you enjoy it.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

That sucks. I just can’t believe we still don’t have universal release dates on all games, where everyone gets the same game, bonuses, etc. on the same day.

This is 2013. We should have this type of stuff by now in my opinion.

Just beat Shin Megami Tensei IV last night. It’s my first SMT, I have Nocturne but haven’t got around and play it and whole bunch of other games I played mid-way through and dropped because I was addicted to Dota back in the day.

This game is definitely my RPG of the year, I got the law ending. I’m playing without a guide so I just chose thing randomly, I think I’ll play other games before I try to get other ending.

And I really can’t wait for TGS, I definitely can see it now Persona 5 getting announced with a trailer. Thinking about it makes me really excited! And then there are Gamescom in the next few weeks, I hope we get some games announced for Vita and more gameplay footage and new games for PS4.

What does everyone think about the news that Asda, the UKs second largest supermarket has decided to suspend stock of all Wii U stuff?

    • bloodiOS

I think it indicates that Asda believed the Wii U is unpopular in the UK.

      • McPoo

        Would you agree with that?

        • bloodiOS

Well, at the moment, the sales of the Wii U and its games as a whole certainly don’t seem very impressive.

          • McPoo

So you agree with their decision to suspend stocking it?

            • bloodiOS

But it’s still available on their online store, right?

              • McPoo

It is, but I think there’s only 4 or 5 games, no Pikmin 3 or anything.

I might be wrong, I’m pretty sure that’s whati read though. Haven’t checked their site yet.

                • bloodiOS

Well, I think the only reason that they don’t stock the Wii U and its games in the supermarkets anymore is because it isn’t selling, which means a waste of resources, so I have to agree with their decision of not stocking it.

                  • McPoo

As do I. I just read now that only 100 out of their 550 stores were actually stocking Wii U stuff in the first place though, so this isn’t as big an issue as the article originally made out. This would also explain why I’ve never seen any Wii U stuff in any of the Asda’s near me >.>

              • McPoo

They’re stocking Fifa, Rabbids, Your Shape, and Sports Connection, alng with peripherals and that.
