New Soulcalibur game on the horizon?

The next Soulcalibur game might just be on the horizon. Namco Bandai has trademarked the name Soulcalibur: Lost Swords in North America.

The latest Soulcalibur game, Soulcalibur V, launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in January last year. Prior to that, Soulcalibur IV debuted in July 2008.

Perhaps we’ll hear more about Lost Swords at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego?

I think this game for 3ds but i hope for vita.vita is a great machine for fighting game

  • SuperLuigi

PLEASEEEEEE do not be an IOS game!!!

  • Syltique

So my Soul Calibur 3DS guess was … right?

    • Dokuro

      Hahahahahahaha you wish!

      • Sal Romano

Either 3DS or PS Vita is possible. In the current market, I feel like it’s a lot more likely to see a 3DS version than a PS Vita version – unless it’s a PS3/360/PSV game. But I’d definitely like to see it on PS Vita. I like dat HD.

        • Dokuro

This game on 3DS would be a waste.

          • MasterSensei

Have you seen Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition? it looks like a pretty good game. 1 v 1 fighters doesn’t really put too much pressure on the hardware.

            • Dokuro

              Yes, still not good.

  • Sophitia

Please for PS3. And Sophitia should be playable.

    • Darrius

I need it for PS4. But mostly I need this

      And Sophitia should be playable.

And Taki, and Cassie, and for the love of god, Talim, and Yun-Seong, and Setsuka, and X, and Z, and Seong Mina, and Amy(original style).

It pisses me of to have to select clone characters, when everybody knows I want the original characters. But I really feel bad for the people who used characters with no replacement.

  • Rafael Martines

I hope is a fighting game, not that wii game ¬¬

  • dez-e-ray112

I hope there will be more info on that during Comic con this week.

  • epy

I hope it is a new version of SCV with some actual content this time around.

    • Bob Obb

I don’t know, it tanked so hard and the title sounds more like a mobile game… but yeah that’d be nice.

  • Coloso90909

Broken Destiny PSP —–> Lost Swords PSVita

    • DrForbidden

Only a fanboy or troll would state categorically that an unannounced, as-yet-unseen game would be worse when compared to a 4 year-old one.

  • z_merquise

I hope Namco give Soulcalibur a better treatment this time.

  • xMCXx

Hopefully it will have more contenct besides a shitty “story” mode and online and nothing else.

  • Jon Nitti

is is probably sc5 for casuals because they werent able to spend much time on the story mode and character development because of the earthquake happening during the developement of sc5. instead, they focused on the mechanics and made a pretty awesome game with that and gave the series an overhaul which was great for competitive players, but i feel like the casuals were cheated this time around

  • Dokuro

Sounds more like a PS vita game.

  • Elvick

Hope it’s PS Vita, played some Broken Destiny on it (from PS+) and it was boss. I’d love to see an exclusive fighter on Vita, dat hardware.

    • Carlos Luis Ayala

I hated the story it was so annoying all it was mission after mission about controls no freedom vs was great though this sounds like a spinoff game like legends

      • Elvick

I meant the core gameplay and graphics.

    • Kurisu Makise

I’ve been playing Broken Destiny on Vita too. I love how smooth the online versus is. I just popped into lobby’s took some people out and went off to play something else. Very seamless, plus Kratos really fit as the guest character.

  • artemisthemp

Hope it better than Soul Calibur V <– Shitty game.

Could sound like a Vita or Wii U game, since PlayStation version never had name in their title?

  • Talax

Probably an F2P, just like Tekken Revolution

  • GhostNomad

Soul Calibur stopped being fun after III, at least in my opinion. The CotS and CaS modes were awesome in that game. Soul Calibur II was fun as well, mostly because of the Labyrinth (or perhaps it’s another mode I’m thinking of, but regardless, really fun game).

All that said, as a fan, I’ll still keep hoping that the new SC will be just as fun (or at least take a few good steps back in that direction) and keep an eye on it. Thanks Sal!

    • DrForbidden

I certainly enjoyed IV, though not as much as III. V was kind of meh, as they basically stripped the Story mode down to the skeleton. Still, I disagree that CaS was best in III. IMO, IV offered the best CaS in terms of variety and options. V wasn’t bad in that department, but it was obvious that Namdai was more interested in using that mode to shill DLC than anything…

      • GhostNomad

I don’t disagree that CaS was more polished in IV, but the fact that you could make your own characters and then play with them in Chronicles of the Sword was fantastic. I can’t even begin to list the amount of characters I made and then went through CotS with.

        • DrForbidden

          Ah, I see. That’s a valid point.

  • Spectacularity

Lost Swords? They must be referring to the characters that got kicked out of sc5 T-T

  • Gilgamesh2025

I PRAY my favorite Character, Yun-Seong, will be in! >.<

  • Charlie

    I have three simple requests.

    1. Bring back the original characters we know and love.
    2. More single player content.
    3. Classic story mode.
If these are all included in the final product I will buy it like a mother f*cker. Who am I kidding? I’m a SC whore, I’ll buy it anyway.

    • DrForbidden

V was definitely lacking in the SP and Story departments, I agree.

  • Damian Uciński

Edge Master Mode form SoulBlade should be back :]

  • Evan

A 3DS, PSVita/PSP, and IOS/mobile(any) would be nice It’ll give everybody a chance for those who don’t have that pacific handheld and/or mobile device though it would better to put on home consoles PS3, 360, Wii, U, PS4, and One. Not all lot of people have handhelds anyone agree?
