I hope Atlus takes the hint with those EO sales.

    • KnifeAndFork

Why won’t Namco get the hint with those Gundam sales?

Japan is Japan is Japan. Not ‘Mericuh

      • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

I’m not sure if you understood what I meant. I was talking about the experiments Atlus was doing with the new EO game.

        • Kefkiroth

Can you elaborate what they did wrong with it?

  • KiQun

Another good sales for Vita. Is Toukiden’s higher than Soul Sacrifice’s?

    • RyoonZ

      Soul Sacrifice = 105.863

      • GNXS

        92k + 22k double packs

    • Hikaru Lighthalzen

if its psv+psp , yeah its higher , but if its psv only , no

    • tubers

SS had a “double pack”.. by PSV only sales, it’s more than Toukiden.

      PSV+PSP Toukiden = much higher.

  • sherimae1324

omg, that vita bump 0_0 toukiden trumps souls sacrifice

    • HeatPhoenix

      Nope. As GNXS says

“GNXS SasuleUchiha • an hour ago
      92k + 22k double packs

      On Vita, that is.

  • Ratsuki

Whoa, awesome number for Toukiden. Didn’t expect it to beat Atelier though.
Passed the demo cause I’m kinda tired with hunting/mh/ge type game, fear it would be same old, same old. But maybe I will pick this one after all.. Anyone have played it? Is it any good?

  • Renaldi Saputra

welp, as expected from me.. Decode’s first week sales didn’t reach 50k

  • SuperLuigi

See sony? Just release games and people will buy your console. Now give me more games in America soon. Although I am really looking foward to kz and ys.

  • Van Sora

Holly shit vita, that’s an hell of a jump.

  • Sophitia

Japan loves Gundam. If only Gundam Breaker had Gundam X suit…

    • HeatPhoenix

Or Turn A… or anything, really.

      • KnifeAndFork

You know Turn A Gundam was designed by an American, Sydney Jay Mead, concept artist for Blade Runner, Tron and Aliens?

        • HeatPhoenix

Yes. I know that. Why are you bringing that up? It’s also the last Gundam show directed by Tomino featuring Rolan Cehack as its main character. A brown boy from the moon who crossdresses multiple times in the show.

Did you think I didn’t know about Gundam or something?

  • Sieghardt

Disappointing sales for Atelier, hopefully they mix it up a bit with some titles like Mana Khemia and Ar Tonelico again, people must be getting burned out

    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

They should have stopped after Meruru and made a new Atelier spin-off like Mana Khemia.

    • yuina

On the contrary, I think the poor sales are because they tried mixing it up too much with this game. The writing was on the wall when the male protag was announced. Next title will probably be 100% traditional again and be a return to form in sales.

      • Sieghardt

That wouldnt explain the previous drop in Ayesha.

      • KnifeAndFork

Shame. Looks like the best one yet. Japanese are so fickle with their moe

  • refrain

Anyone got the previous sale of the previous Atelier games? I didn’t remember the sale was this bad with the arland trilogy.

    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

      (2009) Atelier Rorona – 43,243

      (2010) Atelier Totori – 53,871

      (2011) Atelier Meruru – 82,585

      (2012) Atelier Ayesha – 60,548

      25-27ish for the Plus versions.

  • HeatPhoenix

First week 88k? No wonder Atlus is going on broke.

    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

It’s a low number, considering they were trying to reach a broader audience with this. 10k less copies sold than EO4 means a lot of EO fans didn’t buy this if some of those sales were from that “new audience”.

      • HeatPhoenix

So I guess SMT IV is their best-seller of recent times. It actually almost sold as much in Japan in the first week as P4 the Golden did in all regions.

The internet makes it feel like Persona 3/4 were amazing hits all over the world of which there are extreme amounts of fans, but if you actually look at the sales, they’re kind of sad.

        • MosquitoLemon

This is true, that’s why I can’t stand people who were pissed about Atlus region-locking P4 Arena… they don’t understand that Atlus is still a small developer compared to an SE or a NamcoBandai.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Atlus isn’t going broke, its Index.

      • HeatPhoenix

Atlus is a brand, not a company. If you buy SMT IV and stick it in your 3DS it actually says “Index Corporation”.

Atlus does not exist any longer.

Notice the past tense and “former type”.

        • HeatPhoenix

Once again, I have no flipping idea why I get downvotes. Are people mad that Atlus was acquired or something? It’s been part of Index since 2006, people.

          • Elvick

So? Sony’s Electronics don’t do too well, but PlayStation does. Does one mean the other doesn’t do well? Nope.

            • HeatPhoenix

Yes but both Index and Atlus are doing bad. Are you the one constantly downvoting me? I didn’t even rip on anything, I only posted facts… EVEN LINKS TO THEM.

              • Elvick

Yes, I created a bunch of accounts so I could downvote you multiple times.

Who cares? I replied to you. So even if I did downvote you, I already gave you a response, so you can respond to it.

                • HeatPhoenix

Must be rather satisfying, downvoting a guy you know’s right. hehe.

                  • Elvick

If you choose to believe I’m down-voting you, good for you.

Enjoy your small “victories”, based on assumption and ego.

                    • HeatPhoenix

Aren’t you, then? It doesn’t really matter, I don’t even know what we’re arguing about anymore. Nevermind, since we’re way off-topic.

                    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

Atlus apologists seem to be plenty here today.

    • Spirate

It’s actually the second highest debut for an Etrian Odyssey game, and given how it’s essentially an enhanced port of the first game, which was released over 5 years ago, I don’t see how that’s bad.

  • shogunknight

Wow, vita went up more than twice last weeks amount with the release of Toukiden. And number one in the charts is….its…..its a Gundam!!

    • KnifeAndFork

      Nani?? G-G-G-undam?? Masaka!

  • refrain

Is there a release date for Gundam Breaker Vita version?

  • Elvick

“The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd HD Edition (Falcom, 06/27/13) – 5,970 (New)”

    Come on Japan… That’s terrible.

Glad The Last of Us is still up there.

Damn, look at those Vita sales. Nice.

    • DesmaX

I imported SC HD… And, it makes perfect sense. It’s a really lazy port (It doesn’t fill the whole screen, and both analog sticks moves the character) that only exists for people who only play on consoles to get to Trails in the Flash… And, since not a lot of japanese people play only on consoles…

  • miyamoto

    i knew it!
    Japan loves Omega Force!
    Toukiden FTW!
I knew this game is something special!
    read my older comments
English version can’t come too soon!
    sky rocket to the top!

That is what I am toukin about! yeah!
    Go Gundam!

MS Gundam Batle Operation Anniversary goodness this month!

    • shogunknight

      “Toukin” lol, nice one

  • alangato

I have a feeling that this new atelier will end selling less in japan and will sell really well in western territory.

  • Zero

Gundam Breaker at #1. Congrats, Namco Bandai.

It’s also nice to see Toukiden do so well. Looking at the chart, it’s been a pretty good week for Tecmo Koei and Namco Bandai.

On the hardware side of things. Another boost for the Vita, it’s nice to see people supporting it when a new vita game comes out.

Nintendo continues to do well with 3DS. Meanwhile, the Wii U did outsell the PSP this week, Gotta take those small victories when you can imo.

I’m not saying I dislike the PSP or anything, but it’s really on its way out the door, ready to retire and let the Vita take its place, where the Wii U is inside trying to find a place to sit down. ^^

    • LightGenx

At the rate things are going the Wii U will never find a seat.

      • Zero

I think things are going to turn around in 2014. With lots of great Wii U exclusive titles coming out. I sure hope so.

I think a price drop like they did early on with the 3DS would help too.

        • LightGenx

I think a price drop would help especially with games such as X and Super Smash Bros coming soon. They look to be potential system sellers.

  • MrKappa

Gundam being Gundam, so of course it is gonna be number 1.
The real surprise is Toukiden being number 2 especially since it is the Vita version.

    • MosquitoLemon

Well, you have to consider all the people who bought a Vita expecting a monster hunter game to come out for it.

  • Eclipse

I was hoping that Atelier Escha & Logy would’ve had a better opening, but the sales aren’t bad by any means. Oh well, I look forward to seeing what GUST has in store with the next game.

Atelier Musou would be nice. ;)

  • LightGenx

I honestly didn’t expect Toukiden to do so well. Congrats Tecmo.

  • PrinceHeir

  • David Curry

Monster Hunter is big in Japan but I still think portable hunting action is the main attraction. That means that any other quality MH-type game should be able to carve a decent niche on Vita or even 3DS.
