Compile Heart has released the debut trailer for Fairy Fencer F.

I’ll check it out if it gets decent enough reviews to warrant a purchase.

  • DarthBrian

THIS GAME IS OF GREAT INTEREST TO ME!!! O_O

  • bloodiOS

I guess Compile Heart doesn’t plan on improving that lacklustre graphics…

    • Elvick

People like you are why developers like Factor 5 are dead. They spent too much making their game pretty for graphic whores that when Lair tanked they were fucked.

I’m glad Japanese developers don’t waste money where it’s unnecessary. As long as the art design is solid, it shouldn’t matter if the graphics aren’t pushing the hardware to the limits.

      • DesmaX

But Lair was crap and, since it was a launch title, it makes sense that it tried to show the “Next-gen potential”. Industry these days is cruel, release a crappy game, and you’re dead.

      • Budgiecat

It would have been nice to you know…use Yoshitake Amane as the main character designer and art stylist as they initially hinted..instead of make it copy pasta Neptune…

        • DyLaN

Drop the ****ing thing would you? Does ppl really feel tht compelled to trash/complain the same thing in every single related article?

And are you crazy enough to believe a game is able to render Amano art into 3D form?

          • Budgiecat

I’M NOT DROPPIN’ NOTHING!! *raises fists*

            • bloodiOS

For some reason, I thought you said “raisin fists” =D

      • bloodiOS

Yeah, because I have to be associated with a certain group just because I don’t like the graphics… Because it’s totally fine to copy and paste everything game after game… Seriously, they can’t take note from Tales or something and choose a more vibrant color palette or stop making everything outside battle looks like it got Vaseline smeared on with that unnecessary post-process crap? Nah, I guess nowadays it’s sinful to hope for some kind of change…

        • DyLaN

Tales did it too. It basically plays the same with a few modification here n there.

          • bloodiOS

I’m talking about the graphics, specifically the vibrant color palette Tales uses to make things looks lively.

    • MrRobbyM

Are you serious? The game looks great. Too much detail in a heavily anime lookin’ game doesnt look right anyways

      • DesmaX

        Watch it in HD

      • bloodiOS

During battle, not too bad but outside battle, while traveling on the map? It looks as though they smeared Vaseline over everything, it looks so bloody blurry.

        • DyLaN

As long as it doesn’t look like its from the PS2-era I’m cool with it. *looks at ToTA map*

        • MrRobbyM

I’ll blame the video for not being very high quality(even in HD). But it looks fine. Nothing technically impressive, but what do you expect from Compile Heart? FFXIII?

          • bloodiOS

I expect them to remove that post-process effect altogether. It does not benefit the art direction of the game in any way.

            • MosquitoLemon

Remove the filter* and it would just be a PS2 game with an HD HUD. The blur is them letting you know this is a current gen title.

*I know nothing about graphics, every dumb effect I just call a filter, lol

              • bloodiOS

I think it’ll be fine, after all, while the environment would certainly looks lacklustre either way, at least without that combination of bloom and blur, the details will stand out more. Beside, the character models already are pretty detailed to begin with.

                • MosquitoLemon

well, their clothing is detailed at least..

    • kandori

Complaining about graphics is pretty funny coming from someone who has a Drakengard 3 character as an avatar.

      • bloodiOS

You say it as though I didn’t complain about Drakengard 3’s graphics. Or perhaps you think someone complaining about a game’s graphics holds the same meaning as he/she dismissing the game in its entirely?

        • kandori

I’m just noting the irony. No need to get so defensive.

          • bloodiOS

Sorry, dealing with all the white knights made me quite snappy lately…

  • Revorse

Is this game gonna be over the top? Cause that gets really annoying. Made me not play any of the HyperDimension games

    • DyLaN

Yet no one complains when NIS did it.

And FYI, over the top and CH goes hand by hand.

      • Revorse

You mean Disgaea? I dislike them too.

  • Raiyu

    This game looks interesting.

Shame about the frame rate drops.

  • miyamoto

    looks good!

  • DesmaX

… Couldn’t they pick up a better narrator?

And, the framerate drops are still there, of course…

    • DyLaN

You guys said it like other game doesn’t have framerate drop. Honestly it looks rather fine for a PS3 JRPG. Not every game dev can pull a SE tier graphics…

      • DesmaX

C’mon, my problem is with the narrator, not the game (Except that framerate. Framerate drops annoy me, no matter what the game)

        • DyLaN

I have edited my commentearlier btw.

          • DesmaX

Except every other JRPG developer do a better job than them?

Atelier games, Trails in the Flash, The Witch and a Hundred Knights; they all look way better than this on the PS3

            • DyLaN

Never been interested at the Atelier series.

Haven’t care enough for Witch & 100 Knight with Sen no Kiseki to watch the trailer. On screenshot, FFF looks on par with these game you mention.

      • Budgiecat

oh lol cmon these are PS2 graphics..

        • DyLaN

………..Are you ****ing kidding with me?

          • Budgiecat

HEY! Stop ****ing cursing at me!!

      • Bobby Jennings

Not asking for graphics, just asking for a game I can play without graphic lag. .-.

    • Bobby Jennings

This. I mean come on with these framerate drops….

  • Sim

Awesome trailer and i already had the limited ed preordered on cdjapan for month or so… also more Stylips is always good.

  • Learii

    new neptunia game =D

    • DyLaN

Neptunia doesn’t have males not in shadowed portrait form or robot form =P Not sure abt Victory though as I have seen some pics floating around with a guy.

    • fyi1191

      Cameo boss fight.

  • Xenovelgr

it looks like every game they’ve ever made… but I guess if that’s what their fans want, they gotta give them what they want

    • Budgiecat

Welcome to the Call of Duty generation

      • DyLaN

Except CH games actually feels interesting enough to get my attention where CoD fails at.

That and CH gameplay usually improve as the game goes on.

        • Budgiecat

Pretty sure your average CoD dudebro would argue just the same that CoD games improve year after year too…

    • DyLaN

Mugen Souls and the Curry RPG says hi.

  • TimesTicking

I don’t see the framerate drops you people are talking about O.o

    • fyi1191

Slight. Its normal for their games and will be fix with update patches.

  • AnimusVox

Hope the frame rate gets fixed but other than that I like the character designs in his one.

  • Eclipse

Looks great. I’ve never experienced any major framerate problems in their previous Neptune games, so this one should probably be fine.

    • Derpazu

I hope you’re joking, because the first Neptunia ran at way below 20fps ALL THE TIME.

      • Eclipse

Ah, I can’t really remember the 1st Neptune game’s framerate problems due to how long ago it was that I played it… I guess I should’ve been more specific – I’ve never experienced any major framerate problems with mk2 & V.

Seeing as how CH tends to improve each new release, I’m sure that the framerate’s not going to be much of an issue in this.

  • Budgiecat

Good grief that voice is irritating….

    • Warboss Aohd

It’s like it’s custom built to physically bother people with autism.

      or everyone really.

      • DyLaN

It doesn’t bother me at all. Or any1 who heard enough anime girls voice to be bearable.

        • Rudy Soto

          Not really.

          • DyLaN

            Again, it depends on individual.

        • Budgiecat

Not when Anime girl voices is some 30 yr old tryhard to sound like a nauseating 3 year old on meth. That **** gets old fast. Some of us like our Anime non pandering thanks

          • Hans Kazan

Can’t believe how you’re hating on Yoshinon.

        • Warboss Aohd

that autism bit wasn’t a joke, i’m autistic.

Voices like that physically bother my ears.

    • MosquitoLemon

OMG I heard 3 seconds and wanted to blow my brains out.

  • Emdimian

looks dope, hope they localize it

  • manasword0

    Looks like Tales!!!

    • yuina

You must not think very much of the Tales series.

  • Pyrofrost

Looks like a typical Compile Heart affair. I need to see more before I make a choice. I’m not fond of Compile Heart / Idea Factory games. They haven’t released single game I actually like.

Hopefully one comes along someday to change my mind. Maybe this one will, who knows.

  • Derpazu

Gotta say, I like what I’m seeing. Pick this up, NISA/Xseed!

  • Sae-Won Yoon

Now this is more like it,

I don’t mind Tsunako’s art style but Yoshitaka Amano’s is still pretty boss.

  • Nerroth

I wonder if there will be a “Re;Birth”-esque version of this game for the Vita at some point?

  • Ritsujun

    Konpairu Haato!
