Batman: Arkham Origins will feature a full-fledged multiplayer component developed by Brink and Dirty Bomb studio Splash Damage, Warner Bros. has announced.

The online mode, which won’t be available in the Wii U version, will blend the game’s traditional Arkham gameplay with third-person shooter mechanics. Players will hunt as Batman or Robin against other players online, or take on the role of a super villain elite and side with The Joker or Bane. You’ll even get to play as The Joker or Bane themselves.

The PlayStation Blog has a full report on the mode, which is called “Invisible Predator Online.” Eight players can participate, consisting of three Joker thugs, three Bane thugs, and two heroes in the form of Batman and Robin. The thugs’ goal is to wipe out the other team and capture control points, while the heroes’ goal is the prowl the area, intimidate enemies, and provoke gang leaders into calling off their operation.

    This sounds great ^_^

This shall tide me over nicely until MGO returns. Also digging that new Batman model in the image, I hope they didn’t use the same walking animation from Arkham City, it looked like he needed to wipe his ass.

Arkham’s character models were crap. Bruce Wayne looked like a Mafioso guido on roids…

      This looks much better

Yeah I didn’t like it that much either, he was waaaay too beefy and his arms were too short. I used the Batman Beyond skin for my playthrough of Arkham City so I saw how stiff the walking animation was without the cape. It looks. ..uncomfortable. Catwoman was ace though, I wish I could have played the entire game as her.

Wii U, always getting the shaft.
Though why won’t it be available on it?

I’m assuming so few people even use the online function of it. I imagine most people do online gamers do their online gaming on the other 3 consoles.

An example of this is the ghost town that is black ops 2 on wiiU

The weird thing is that Injustice had online play for Wii U, so they’re actually going backwards in terms of support.
Despite stripped features, I bet it’s still going to cost $60.

      • Budgiecat

Weird cause back in the day, CoD games were pretty busy online for the Wii….

  • Nhiroz

As soon as I read “developed by Brink” I lost all interest….

  • Jontaku

I think they should have geared the mp towards co operative more than competitive cause I personally would have enjoyed a co op challenge mode over a PvP mode

  • Aiddon

wait, Splash Damage? The guys who made Brink, which was a mess of a game? Huh, the Wii U version actually might be SUPERIOR due to the omission of the multiplayer

  • Serovath

the 1st 2 bats were successful because it was an awesome single player experience. it didn’t need multiplayer.

without rocksteady, and now with multiplayer, my hopes for this game has gone down the drain. luckily there are plenty of other awesome titles in Q4.

    • MrKappa

Get off it and stop crying. No one is forcing you to play the MP. If the single player sucks then you can complain that only Rocksteady can had what it took.
However the game isn’t even out yet and you are whining about it without seeing any solid gameplay. a review or even playing it yourself.

      • McPoo

        Well said!

      • Serovath

yeah right… see what happened to single player when they added multiplayer to me3?

yeah. thought so. can’t blame me for being skeptical.

  • Bobby Jennings

    Wow, no online play…pfft ridiculous.

  • DrForbidden

Awww…. I was hoping MP would use the League of Batmen characters like in Batman Incorporated.
