As announced back in June, A-Men developer Bloober Team is working on a new PlayStation 4-exclusive game called Basement Crawl. A new IGN preview today offers first gameplay details.

The game is a 2.5D “maze-based action game” inspired by Bomberman and Spy vs. Spy, according to Bloober Team’s Peter Bielatowicz. The objective is to be the last man standing by setting traps to catch, hurt, and eliminate other players.

Some sort of leveling or progression system might be in place, but the game will be entirely skill-based to “focus on hardcore players instead of casuals or middlecore,” Bielatowicz said.

Players will start with four available character classes, each with their own skills, strengths, and weaknesses “balanced carefully against each other.” Up to four players can play together locally, or up to eight players online.

Basement Crawl will be available as a PlayStation 4 download title sometime during the system’s “launch window.”

Basement Crawl, huh? I wonder if there is any joke intended in that name…

hahaha, never heard the term “middle-core” before.

Well, if it’s hardcore based, I’m in. Especially the comparison with Bomberman

Sounds interesting. I love Bomberman so they’re saying all they’re right words so far

Really liking that Bloober Team still supports the PS family although their games never sell like hotcakes. A-men was such a simple looking yet fun title.
