Eight playable characters. Level up three key attributes.

Tekken Revolution, the first free-to-play entry in the Namco Bandai fighting game series, is coming to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network this Tuesday, June 11.

The game will offer an initial cast of eight playable characters. Players will be able to battle against AI opponents in Arcade Mode or other players through online Ranked and Player matches.

It will offer new Special Arts and Critical Arts moves designed to help newcomers.

A Tekken series first, Revolution will also allow players to level up their characters, increasing their Strength, Endurance, and Vigor attributes. You can develop a defensive tank character with high health and the ability to withstand knockout blows, or you can build a high offense player with lower health but higher critical attack rates.

Oh good, King is in it, ahhaha.

    “you asked for it”? hmm….

      Did they?

I don’t follow the fighting game community, lol. Is this something people were really asking for?

      • dior

        Not in the slightest.

I have no idea, but seeing this game going free to play and the exclusivity on ps3, maybe tekken fans actually did ask for this

So how about the thing with DOA5U being F2P?

          • Elvick

That’s more a glorified demo though, that allows you to cherry pick aspects you want. And it’s based on an existing game too.

This is something entirely new, well… I’m sure they reuse some assets, but it’s “new”.

Same thing same statement-i have no idea

I think it’s like consumers “asked for” more f2p MMOGs by refusing to pay money for them. :)

Is it not nice how playstation offers so much for free. So on June 11th I can download Tekken, Uncharted 3, XCOM, LBP karting and later this month Saint Row 3.

Looks fun. I wonder how much a character is going to cost.

“It will offer new Special Arts and Critical Arts moves designed to help newcomers.” Can they separate players who are actually learning how to play the game from those who just use Special Arts mode (easy/button mash mode)? Its bad enough they have noobs who just button mash run around freely in BlazBlue and street fighter?

This and Ridge Racer Driftopia makes two free game that Namco is pumping out this year. Personally, I feel pretty satisfied.

“It will offer new Special Arts and Critical Arts moves designed to help newcomers.”
Like Soul Calibur 5 with its dumb Street Fighter-esque special moves?
    Fuck this.

I am a bit confused on this, can someone clarify this for me?
Is this game going to be a digital F2P only? You will have to pay if you want more characters? Will they be releasing a physical version of this game with the full roster?

    • MosquitoLemon

      yes, nobody knows*, no

They said there are 8 characters so far, but the video clearly shows more than that. It doesn’t say anything about paying for more characters, but it doesn’t saying anything about playing as them, either.

  • Bob Obb

    What’s this about stats? I smell pay-to-win.

even though i prefer Tekken Tag 2, i’ll still play this from time to time :)

    thanks Harada-san!

  • Gilgamesh2025

Nice, it’s been a while since I played the last Tekken title.
