So I pre-ordered a PS4 the day after the press conference.
Unfortunately there aren’t any launch games announced thus far that I’m all that interested in.
Do you think that any 3rd party Japanese companies will have anything ready for the US Launch?
Cause we’re missing some pretty big hitters, and there isn’t exactly a large launch library as it is.
While I’m sure that there will be games announced at Gamescom and TGS naturally I’m not sure if they will be launch titles and that presents quite an unusual situation. Dying to get a console without promise of a title that jumps out seems a little odd.
It’s possible my mind may change on a game upon more reveal gameplay etc. but at the moment I am inconclusive and undecided.
What are you guys getting this Fall?

    • Azuardo

Sort of the same frame of mind. I’ve put a pre-order down just incase I go ahead with it, but can cancel if I’m not sure closer to the time. I love the features of the PS4 but the launch games really aren’t anything special to me. The smart decision would be to wait till next year or something, but I sort of want to make the most of my PS+ subscription to get whatever free stuff they give away, too, before it gets pulled later on. It’s a tough one.

    • zangetsukakashi

Knack, Skylanders, Watch dogs, and Warframe(online) :)

      • Tetsu

Warframe looks pretty cool. And it’s cool that we’ll be able to play as much as we want, seeing how it’s free and all :)

Knack and Watch Dogs are 2 maybes for me, just gotta be convinced.

    • $18114340

Why do you want to get the console at launch? In my opinion it’s almost always better to wait, in any case.

      • Tetsu

It’s true, I wish I would have waited with my Wii U. I still only own just one retail launch game. (I also own a handful of Indie and Virtual Console games)

But at the same time, I wanted to show Nintendo my support, and it was too exciting not to be part of that transition into the next chapter of consoles.

    • LordKaiser

That’s also why I never buy consoles at launch.

      • Tetsu

It’s that shiny new object that I can’t turn my head away from.

        Oooooooooooo shinyyyyyy *o*

    • DarthBrian

I pre-ordered a PS4 10 minutes after the press conference was over. I also pre-ordered Knack and Watch_Dogs. Between those two games and the free games I’m getting with PS+ on Launch Day (Drive Club + Version, Outlast, Don’t Starve, Secret Ponchos) I think that’s plenty. *shrug*

      • Tetsu

Those 2 games are on my peeked interest list, but I wanna see more of both of them, Knack in particular.

If Knack had been a fantasy world and not an analog of our world, that would have got me on board immediately. But I am still interested, so we’ll see.

        • DarthBrian

          But there’s Goblins. :p

    • xMCXx

I’ll wait and get a PS4 when Second Son is being released.
But I’ll buy a 3DS, since the new Pokemon is coming out very soon and it looks awesome!
But the PS4 has some solid launch titles:
Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, some Indie-Titles, Watch_Dogs…

      • Tetsu

I am definitely excited for the Indie offerings, and Watch Dogs is pretty cool, but I’m just not 100% sold on it yet.

I really want Second Son as well, it’s unfortunate that it’s not a launch title.

        • Willgaea

I’ll get it when the witness comes out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/micheal.scott.315 Micheal Scott

Well ill be getting the PS4 but not at launch heaven’s no
first run copy’s have some kind of miss up so ill wait till
second run comes or FFXV and KH3 but we know thats no time soon
so if i was you ill wait for the game i want to buy next gen-console
if you dont see anything you like on launch but do what you like ok :D

    • GhostNomad

I’m getting a PS4 at launch, but unless Watch_Dogs is a confirmed launch title, it likely won’t be used aside from starting and setting it up, maybe testing out the little features it’ll have. Due to the 18 NOV release date for Watch_Dogs, I’m pretty sure it’ll be a launch title, but it’s all good regardless. If some issues surface with the first-run models of the PS4, I’ll be able to exchange it for another, but should anything like that happen in the first place, I’m sure there’s gonna be a proper procedure to follow.

As far as games, Watch_Dogs, KH3, FFXV (looks kinda fun, need to see more to decide if it’s gonna be a day-1 purchase), Warframe, inFamous, those go without saying. Battlefield 4, The Division and The Crew are also going to be must-haves for me. Going to be checking out Driveclub and Killzone is a maybe. Iffy on that since I’ve never played any other Killzone games due to lack of interest. Deep Down looks interesting, FFXIV is also most likely going to be one I get if the Beta turns out well. MGS V, I REALLY want, but the new voice actor thing… It’s still holding me back. Destiny, definitely a game that grabbed my attention and depending on whether or not my best friend finds it interesting enough, we’re either both getting it or passing. Transistor looks really fun, and Octodad just looks goofy as hell so I want it just for that reason

If the Kickstarter for APB goes through, I just might check it out on the PS4 since I played for about 10 hours on the PC and really enjoyed it but other games stole my attention so I’ve yet to actually explore it more. Big fan of Thief so with a little bit more details released, I just might be buying that soon as it drops as well. Then there’s the annual CoD, which I’ll most likely get if my friend decides to pick it up as well since we generally play those games together.

All in all…. I’m more than satisfied with the list of titles that the PS4 will be getting, and best of all, there is still SO much left for me on my PS3, PC, and Vita, so I’ll have no problem killing time between PS4 releases until they start picking up and that becomes my primary console :D

This one’s more relevant than WFT. Going with this.

Awesome, cheers :) Really can’t wait for this one.

btw guys,,, found this around. let’s hope it helps at all; i think our chance is bigger now, now that XOne too (not just ps4) is region-free. maybe i’m just dreaming?

    http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/nintendo-stop-region-blocking-make-the-3ds-and-wii-u-region-free?

    • Tetsu

They announced that Xbox One will no longer be region-locked at the same time they changed their DRM and Used Games policies.
That would be awesome if Wii U and 3DS were region-free though.

      • zangetsukakashi

oh, i meant i found the link around, not the policy reversal news :) sorry if i couldn’t explain it properly

  • Azuardo

Finally making my way through Xenoblade, at long last. Mostly good impressions, though it has some questionable characters. Sometimes I have to wonder if some JRPGs would be better with just a small selection of characters rather than throwing in ones that offer little to the story. Choice is good, I guess, but Melia, Riki, and even Sharla, seem boring or silly as playable characters that tag along. Big shoutouts to Reyn, Dunban and Dickson in particular; their voices are generally really damn good. Although as a Brit, I’m very tired of games using posh and Cockney English accents, and really want to see them branch out – Britain is one of the few places in the world that has such hugely diverse accents up and down the country. This is one reason I particularly loved The Last Story’s voice acting, with Syrenne’s breath of fresh air Manchester accent, or Ni No Kuni having a Welsh accent for Drippy. More branching out is needed. But anyway, it’s been a good JRPG, and I think I’m close to ending it now.

Started playing some OpenRA (Open Red Alert) with some mates online. Completely free online Red Alert game, which is really fun. Never played it before until today. Gonna have a look for some more open games, like Quake.

I also need to get back on the FF14 beta :/ That’s been really fun.

    • Willgaea

Where’d you get your copy of xenoblade? The only copies I know of are on amazon and go anywhere from 100-200usd :

      • Azuardo

Well…put it this way: I’ve modded my Wii. I just can’t afford a game like this, either, so it’s had to be this resort, I’m afraid. If I ever see it cheap enough, I’ll buy it, but this is about the only reasonable option for me, unfortunately.

        • futuristic_imagination

At least you got to play the game! :)

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Such a bad decision on Nintendo’s part, seeing the 100-200 USD prices is just no, I won’t pay that. Reminds me of my experience trying to get the Animal Crossing 3DS XL. I hate when products are limited to one retailer >< What makes me more mad is Nintendo views this as a good thing so I can't seem to win with them.

      • futuristic_imagination

Dang, if I held that game for year and couple months I could could of sold that game to one you guys for about $40 usd, instead of giving it to my friend a month after it came out in NA.

    • AdamBoy64

Thanks for the info about OpenRA.

I’m a bit of a C&C fan (only thing I play on PC, really), will be interested to check it out.

  • OverlordZetta

Vita owners! What are you doing to entertain yourselves during this Great Indie Flood/Game Drought? What games are you playing? What are you looking forward to? Any hidden gems you’d like to share with the class?

    • Skerj

Still trying to finish P4G, then I have Soul Sacrifice, AC:Liberation, Disgaea, half of Gravity Rush, and a few more games in my Vita backlog. Getting Muramasa and Hotline Miami on Tuesday so add those to the list. I’ll be playing all of these until Dragon’s Crown, Killzone, and Tearaway.

      • OverlordZetta

Very nice backlog you have there! I’m at the end of GR myself but its gotten too tedious for me to have any desire to continue at this point.

    • Kobracon

Soul Sacrifice, Shinovi Versus, STxT, Persona 4 and Earth Defense Force, I have quite enough to last a while

      • OverlordZetta

I do love me that Persona 5.

How’s the gameplay in Shinovi? Recommendable, or not noteworthy after the fanservice?

        • Kobracon

Its actually alot better than you’d expect from the way its advertised. If you like Dynasty Warriors/Basara style gameplay, the game is quite fun. WIth a myriad of characters to level and a whole lotta outfits to buy and wear, it can last quite a while.

    • MosquitoLemon

I don’t have a Vita, but I would highly recommend Shinobido 2 to anyone that never got to play the originals (only JP and EU release). I’m sure you can find it pretty cheap. It’s basically what the original creators of Tenchu wanted Tenchu to be.

      • OverlordZetta

What kind of game is that, if I may be so bold as to ask?

        • MosquitoLemon

Stealth mission-based action. Imagine Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker with ninja?

    • Elvick

Currently playing Jak Collection. Had a lot of fun with J&D on there.

On Jak II, I posted about it already so won’t repeat what i already said.

Aside from that, I gotta finish Limbo still. And I’ll probably play some more Soul Sacrifice. Haven’t done everything in it yet.

Muramasa is coming out too, so I’ll play that as well.

  • bloodiOS

Went to watch World War Z yesterday and thought it was alright, not sure why people hate it so much. Then again, I’ve never read the book…

Been playing Hotline Miami on PC since yesterday and honestly, the game is just so freaking addictive. The keyboard and mouse control got on my nerves though… By the way, does anyone know whether or not the PSN version is going to run at native 1080p?

  • DarthBrian

Finally got The Last of Us last night. Was playing it till 1am or so. Would’ve played more but my PS3 crashed while playing it. I’m pretty sure that’s TLoU’s fault as I’ve seen reports on the internet that it’s causing some older models of Phat PS3s to crash. So that sucks. :(

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=596011

    • bloodiOS

Welcome to the group, comrade DarthBrian.
I’m actually thinking of getting a Super Slim just for this game.

    • xMCXx

I’ve played for awhile now, too and it froze once while I was exiting the MP.
      But that’s it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/micheal.scott.315 Micheal Scott

i beat The Last of Us and played MP but my character keeps on stopping so yhea my friends die alot thanks to me lol

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

I’m so afraid of this, I’ve got the 60GB and I’ve been trying to preserve it as long as I can in order to sell it and downsize to a slim or a super slim but my copy of the Survival Edition comes in next week monday or tuesday and I can’t have it crash that PS3 =( Debating on just waiting a little while longer but avoiding spoilers is going to be become a chore soon.

    • GhostNomad

My superslim model heats up quite a bit when I play that, and my friend’s original 60GB goes a little crazy with the fan. During cutscenes, it calms down for obvious reasons but when it hits gameplay again, it goes mad. Can’t confirm with my own Original 60GB since its fan is screwed regardless so if it’s anything warmer than 65-70 degrees, it goes buck wild even just sitting on the XMB.

      • futuristic_imagination

Is The Last of Us a dual layered game? if so it may be the reason it heats up a lot / causes problems. When I was playing Uncharted 3 a couple days ago, I noticed that my (slim) ps3 gets really warm, almost hot. So I had play some my games in 1 to 2 hours burst.

Eventually bought a personal fan and put it next to it to push all the hot air away from the ps3 and the bedroom fan circulates the cold air. Now I can play my ps3 for a longer time. :)

        • GhostNomad

I don’t believe that it’s a dual layered game. However, I’m not entirely positive. That said, I do agree about the fan. My Slim used to get a little warm before so I put a fan on it and everything was perfectly fine after that. Not that I ever encountered any problems with it in the first place, but better safe than sorry.

I’m gonna need to buy a new fan for the summer since my area of the States likes to get nice and toasty. Gave my old one to my best friend since his fan burned out and I was fortunate enough to upgrade to the superslim a few months ago, so I didn’t need it nearly as much.

Seriously, the superslim is… Such a blessing. I love my Original, it’s never given me any problems or anything aside from the noise, but with the high temperatures and increasing amount of games I want to play, keeping my room at a nice 60 degrees was becoming a somewhat unrealistic option.

          • futuristic_imagination

For me I have to keep the house cool, because I live in Arizona, where temps are around 110 ish degrees or higher, and right now at 10:59 pm, its still about 103 degrees. O_O

AC + Fan is a blessing here in Arizona!

            • GhostNomad

I hear ya. Depending on where I am, the temperature is always at least 85+, but lately it’s been in the upper 90’s, so I’d rather not put any unnecessary stress on my electronics and just buy a $5 fan to save myself the trouble :D

    • Elvick

My model is the Uncharted 180GB bundle and it ran The Last of Us fine. No crashes at all. Not an old old one, but 2008 is still “old”.

      Which one do you have?

      • DarthBrian

        60GB launch window system.

        • Elvick

          Lucky / Unlucky.

Lucky for the benefit of b/c, and more usb ports. Unlucky for mo’ problems.

  • RSene

    Help me here, please.

The new battlefront announce by EA has nothing to do with this, rgiht? http://gematsu.com/2013/03/rumor-star-wars-first-assault-a-predecessor-to-battlefront-iii

    • bloodiOS

That was developed by LucasArts, the new Battlefront is being developed by DICE, the developers behind Mirror’s Edge and the Battlefield series. That said, since it’s being developed by DICE, it’s probably going to be a first-person shooter game.

      • RSene

        True… Indeed you’re right :)

        Thanks!

  • RSene

I’m also confused about the PS4 cloud being launching only in 2014, with the PS4 being launching without it…

When ppl speak about the PS4 Cloud, do they mean the entire new version of the PSN of the PS4 console, or they mean just a portion, a function of the network?

    • Tetsu

That’s Gaikai, Sony’s new streaming network. You’ll be able to access game features, as well as stream them to other devices and the sort. They haven’t gone into great detail on how it all works yet.
That’s also how you’ll be able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on your PS4.

I think the PlayStation Network title will still be the same, unless they are trading it in for their new Sony Entertainment Network moniker.
And PlayStation Plus will be the extended service of that still as well.

  • Azuardo

Whoaa, just discovered this amazing Worms clone called Hedgewars! http://hedgewars.org/

Completely free to download and play. Essentially, Worms online. Just had a match with a mate, and my god, it’s fun. Still searching around for other open online games, but this is really addictive!

  • MosquitoLemon

More Sengoku Basara! Finished 2’s story and unification with Hideyoshi, now I’m playing Heroes with all the extra characters you couldn’t use in 2. Apparently Hideyoshi isn’t in 3 because he was killed, and the new character (Mitsunari) is trying to avenge him.

    • xMCXx

      Mitsunari is fucking awesome!
Singlehandedly my favourite Sengoku Basara character.^^
I take it you imported the HD release?
How is Sengoku Basara 2, anyway? I was thinking about getting it, too.

      • MosquitoLemon

No sir, I went to Japan, went inside an electronics store and said, “ONE COPY OF THE TRIPLE PACK, PLEASE!”

Sengoku Basara 2 is amazing, I love it like no other, easily my favorite ‘Dynasty Warriors’ type hack-n-slash. Though seeing as I haven’t played 3 yet, I can’t compare them… people have told me 3 is so much better that there’s no reason to even play 2… I’ll be sure to post my opinions when I get around to playing 3 and Utage.

        • Kobracon

          Lookin forward to them

          • MosquitoLemon

I just finished a playthrough with Mitsunari, I couldn’t wait any longer! Plus I saw my favorite character get KILLED in the opening scene, so I had to avenge him, hahaah.

No opinions yet, I want to play through with a few more characters before I can really say anything solid.

      • Kobracon

Basara 2 has the most content in terms of characters and armor pieces for every character. It’s just slightly hard to get into the gameplay after what Basara 3 did to the system. B3 is so much more fluid that its hard to go back to 2

        • xMCXx

          Ah, ok.
Kinda annoying how they keep making characters not playable even though they were playable in previous games, though.
Kenshin and Kojuro, for example in 3.
Just so they can be playable in fucking Utage!
          Capcom…

          • Kobracon

Well quite a few of them are dead due to historical reasons. I know its weird for Basara to be “historical” but they do, oddly enough.

Utage actually has 12 extra characters. 6 are advertised but the rest are a pleasant surprise. Kenshin being one of them.

            • xMCXx

You even fight against Kenshin in 3, yet he isn’t playable! xD
              And Shingen is sick. :-/

              • Kobracon

and makes a miraculous return in Utage. Kenshin is also playable.

                • xMCXx

                  Damn you, Capcom!
Don’t they know importing games is expensive as hell? xD

                  • Kobracon

Not entirely their fault. First they made a terrible localization of Basara 1 that changed all the character’s names and it never left the ground, then they suddenly cared again with Basara 3 and tried to give it to us exactly as it was but in English. Ppl still ignored it as a Dynasty Warriors clone, and anything with a moniker like that gets shunned by critics.

So, since Basara 3 didn’t do well, no point trying to localize Utage to a western audience that will never buy it.

                    • xMCXx

Yeah, they fucked up with “Devil Kings”.

          • MosquitoLemon

All I can say regarding Heroes and Utage is that they would be worth an extra $60 purchase alone. Heroes has that many changes and that much extra content, despite only having 6 ‘new’ characters.

It’s not like a little expansion they could have tacked on with DLC, and to be honest, the HD version of Heroes looks even crisper than the HD version of 2 for some reason!

            • xMCXx

Yeah? Ok, at least they are worth their money, then.

              • MosquitoLemon

yeah, i hate the attitude that capcom milks their franchises. People hating stuff like the SF X Tekken DLC is understandable, but pretty much every supplementary release they’ve had is justifiable. Capcom gets way too much hate for a company that has put out the majority of the games I love in the past 10 years.

                • xMCXx

                  Don’t forget MvsC. : P
But yeah, there are worse companies.
And Capcom made Dragon’s Dogma, so I like them for now. xD

                  • MosquitoLemon

Naw, MvC3 was fine, there are only what, 2DLC characters? But yeah, Capcom has done a lot of great stuff. Besides, I’d rather they do weird things to make money and stay in business rather than make terrible games.

    • Kobracon

Yeah quite a few of them are dead actually :(

But some make a glorious return in B3 Utage.

Mitsunari is a beast. With the speed to match even Uesugi Kenshin and a rage that can make the Hulk say “Dude, chill…” he is an awesome character.

Oh and Hideyoshi was killed by that pipsqueak Ieyasu Tokugawa.

  • http://www.facebook.com/micheal.scott.315 Micheal Scott

Last of Us beat it and done :D
Now just have to wait for Tales of Xillia,Dragon’s Crown,Watch Dog,and Project Diva F for my PS3 to come to end.

  • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

So as mentioned in the previous open forum, I had assembled up a budget and was aiming to finally dive into the joys of handheld gaming. My plan was to slide in for both but that would have really constrained my options but the choice to get both was sadly removed from me the moment the Animal Crossing 3DS XL was sold out and going for over $300. So I made arrangements with a local reseller and I’ve got a Brand New 3G PS Vita on hold for me for $200. I’ve got…$218.75 to spend on games (Digital/Physical), Memory card (why are these so expensive >>), and PS+ I’m not even sure how I’ll make the best of that just yet.

    • OverlordZetta

Enjoy that Vita! It’s one insanely powerful little machine – I love mine. Be sure to get a big card once you can get one, you’ll want it.

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Ah, that’s the struggle right now! Do I kill most of the $218.75 to get the 32GB (since I’ve got a ton of games stacked via PS+) or do I conserve and go for a more affordable 16GB?

        • OverlordZetta

Well, if you have PS+ you can cloud save, so that should solve the issue if having to delete things somewhat (on Vitas, save data is tied to applications).

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Yeah, I’m thinking I can just swap out and be patient. No need to have everything all at once

        • GhostNomad

As a Vita owner (with a 32GB card), go with a smaller card.I have 10GB free right now and this is after putting just about every game I am interested in playing, about 100 songs, and a hell of a lot of photos on it.

The main point behind getting a smaller card, having ~20-30 games at once isn’t bad, but if you’re anything like me, you’re only really going to focus on a few at a time (currently Soul Sacrifice and Legend of Dragoon for me). Everything else can be stored on your PC/PS3 (if you have either), so when you’re done with a game, upload your save, move the game to your PC (or delete it if you already have a copy on the PS3), add a few new games that you’re in the mood to play, all’s good.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

This is kinda what I’m thinking. The temptation to have so many on the card at once is cool but like you, I can’t think of too many titles I’d want to keep on the card, yet alone what I’d be juggling at one time. Mostly I can see myself juggling 2-3 RPGs, with Totori taking up most of that time if the crafting system is anywhere near Ayesha’s and PSP gems that I missed. My rule with digital in general is it’s got to be something I’ll want to boot up time and time again. Multiplayer games generally do that for me. Oh and I do indeed have a PS3, need a new PC so I can’t take advantage of that side anytime soon.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

      Only $200? That’s a nice deal for the 3G Vita. =)

I couldn’t afford the higher priced memory cards. I got the 8GB and filled it up very quickly. I couldn’t even fit all the free stuff from plus on it. lol

Enjoy the Vita! I wish I had more time for mine.

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

What can I say, desperate times (or it shows you what the market is like for buying a Vita, very few 3G, mostly Wifi and no one will bite on a used WiFi for over $200 less it’s got a ton of games xD). Memory card wise, I’m pretty tempted to drop down to an 8GB ( I see a 16GB for $42.99 on Amazon.ca) but a lot of the titles I want to play were ones accumulated from Plus, versus staking out some physical games. I think on the physical side, I’m aiming for Muramasa, Persona 4 Golden, Hotshots Golf and if I can just snag a copy of Virtua Tennis 4. Other titles I’m okay with a digital copy.

        • Tetsu

          Don’t forget PSP games :)

          My personal recommendations are
          ———————————————
          – Lunar: Silver Star Harmony
          – Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection
          – Ys: Seven
          – MegaMan: Maverick Hunter X

They are all $14.99 or less.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Thanks for the recs, yes Lunar is on my radar, so is ys cause Falcom <3<3<3 and I got Maverick Hunter X, thank you based PS+. Hmm FF IV, my only problem with the collection is I wanted DS IV =( But people say FFIV collection is best FFIV so I'll probably bite, along with Tactics Ogre and Dissidia Duodecim. Though I need a summer sale, seriously. Too many good titles to snag via PSN.

  • Azuardo

Xenoblade finished :) Very good game. I can look forward to X more, now.

    • futuristic_imagination

Nice! I like the game, but when I played the game on my non HD tv, I was like, “ahh my eyes!”

Eventually, I got through the whole game, almost 120 hours! :)

      • Azuardo

That is true. When you spend so much time playing PS3 etc, coming to a non-HD game is quite awful lol. Thankfully, X is gonna look really awesome now :)

        • Tetsu

It really just depends on how good your TV is at decoding the standard signal. If you have a good HD TV with S-Video/Component cables you can make 480i/480p games look pretty damn good.
But there’s so many different variables lol.

But even weirder than seeing standard def after HD games is seeing a PS3 being played on a tube tv.
Now THAT is weird to look at.

          • Azuardo

I think Xeno looked okay, but the jaggies and lack of sharpness were very apparent.

PS3 on a CRT TV is bad, yeah. It’s almost impossible to make out small text, they appear so blurry!

        • futuristic_imagination

Yeah I eventually got through the game, because my parents where out of town for most of the month when the game came out in NA. Playing on my parents HD tv made Xenoblade somewhat better to play (brothers were playing ps3 on the other HD TV).

After playing Xenoblade, it made me more appreciative of the graphics of any HD game nowadays.

I’m looking forward to X too and also the OST for it :)

Hmm an interesting theory. I’ve been speculating myself that Solid Snake is most likely in MGSV but I haven’t came up with any elaborate theories concerning my speculation, need more info.

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Ah, can’t wait to play those classics. Wait…does the Vita version of the HD Collection have the MSX games =O?

          • LordKaiser

            I think so.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BipzO3R4w

but I think this video is on PS3

            • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Seems to be inside MGS 3 so yes probably there. Can’t wait to go old school.

              • LordKaiser

I hope the colors are not so washed out lol. Yes now you can have the whole collection and the full story.

                • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Aha, more like the whole collection again ><; -owner of the Essential Collection on PS2- This is different though, this is portable where I'll get to finish the series proper!

                  • LordKaiser

                    Not till you buy MGSV.

  • futuristic_imagination

A couple of days ago I started playing Tekken Revolution, and its really addicting playing it. I haven’t been playing a Tekken game since the TK6 came out. I haven’t bought Tekken Tag Tournament 2 yet, so I was really surprised by the changes on the characters move sets. Also I noticed online is a lot better than TK6.

Also I got around to finishing some of my backlog of portable games. Right now I’m Playing Soul Sacrifice on vita, Fate/Extra on psp, Devil survivor 2 on DS. Not all 3 at the same time :)

    • Elvick

      TTT2 is awesome. :3

      • futuristic_imagination

So how is the loading times for TTT2? For Tekken 6 it felt like it took almost 10-15 seconds to start a match, thats with the game installed.

        • Elvick

Not sure off hand, it’s been awhile since I’ve played it. xP

        • PrinceHeir

Tekken Tag 2 load times on PS3 is much faster(especially installed)

          • futuristic_imagination

Ooo that is nice to hear. I might get it once I recoup my money from DW8, Tales of Xilla, and Killer Is Dead.

  • Elvick

The Last of Us is incredible. That is all.

Playing the Jak Collection on PS Vita, and as per usual, it’s getting a bad reputation. Platinum’d Jak & Daxter and yes there are some issues, but all of them are minor. Some frame rate drops, most of the really noticeable drops are still playable and in the Beach area early on.

Jak II has been playing well so far, the only issues I have with this one are the rear touch for switching the low/high in vehicles. It’s hard enough to drive in this damn game, this unresponsive rear touch doesn’t help. And the ‘announcements’ cut out when you move a little. Not a big deal, but annoying.

I really hate this game though. Trying to deliver some package and it is just impossible. I don’t know what I do to be “seen” but no matter what I do it happens, then they shoot me down well before I can make it to the destination. And when you get shot you end up going slower. -.-

Story is interesting, and the regular J&D style gameplay is perfect. But the open world is tedious, driving sucks, and I’ve yet to ever get to the point where you have guns so can’t comment on the R&C gameplay.

But yeah, if you see someone say it’s “terrible” or “unplayable” they are exaggerating a lot. Tired of Vita games being victim this ridiculous hyperbole. No it’s not flawless, but it’s a lot of fun. (Jak II isn’t, but that’s just the way ND designed it originally… :p)

Imported Epic Mickey 2 for Vita too. Europe got a limited physical release, yay~

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

People say lots of bad things about Epic Mickey 2 but aside from its occasional frame rate drop it plays quite well and (from the demo I played) fun too. In the end, I subscribe to one true belief. Unless you experience it for yourself, keep a relatively open mind. It’s the best thing I learned from an atheist funny enough. Thanks for the impressions too, I’ve been flip flopping on if I should add J&D to the purchase list in July or if I should hold out a bit more but I’ve never played any of em so I’ll try and align my budget. Honestly, Vita has TOO many games for real. Whenever I think about the platform, I can never think of one definitive title, it’s just built up many titles I’d like to play and thus I pulled the trigger. I hope this strategy can convince a lot of other people on the fence as time goes.

      • Elvick

I’m glad that there are people like you. :P It’s so sad to see those adopting other people’s opinions or experiences as some universal fact.

Some people just react badly to the littlest things.

I got to the shooting in Jak II. Not a fan. :P No strafing. So it’s like the original R&C. Boo. But, the story is still interesting. The one thing I didn’t really mind about the changes between the games was the darker theme in the story.

Looking forward to getting through it and playing Jak III. I hear it’s a lot better, and it looks better too. (tempted to just move on… but I hate not playing in order and getting the full story)

Epic Mickey 2 is fun, I played some of it on the PS3 and really enjoyed it. More than the 3DS game, which I thought would be the opposite. I think it’ll be even more fun on Vita. Even if it has some framerate drops there too. I hear this port is also “terrible” so I guess we’ll see how “bad” it really is.

People also say AC3: Liberation is horrible, but I love that game. Sure, has glitches and some design flaws that hurt the overall experience but it still feels like AC and it’s on a handheld. Plus, it looks amazing. Generally speaking. Character models weren’t pretty enough to make cutscenes look really good, but they’re pretty enough that the gameplay looks great.

Vita gets a bum rap. Makes me sad. It’s wonderful hardware, with a lot of good and even great games. Yet a lot of them have some issues, and are then deemed “shit” by the masses. *sigh* ’tis a bummer.

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

What it suffers from is pretty simple admittedly. You know when people see a product that fits their taste or potentially interests them but for whatever reason be it money (which is understandable) or some allegiance to some other product/brand (which isn’t) and lastly, resistance to new experiences (Which is even worse); then those people will try to latch onto any excuse to not give the product a chance.

Of course, it’s not like it’s our jobs to convince people otherwise (actually it’s Sony’s job but their current PR wants people to believe that it’s all sunshine and rainbows to distract the obvious lack of AAA retail). However, assuming you’re not in the camps I described, the last camp is probably the most toxic. The “I purchased it and am not seeing results”. Quite frankly I don’t blame said camp, heck we’ve got a few of those people on Gematsu too. How does a successor not bring the experiences that the predecessor had?

Oh well, if you can put aside all those negative factors, there’s lots to experience and have and when or if the big experiences return, I’m sure graphics, optimization, etc will just get better should the platform not get discontinued xD!

By the way, I’m glad I got a chance to hear some more positive interpretation for AC3. I remember being quite excited for a solid handheld AC so I’ll have to pick it up a little later after all =]

          • Elvick

Just don’t expect anything from the online. :P

If you plan to play Uncharted: Golden Abyss, just take those flaws and apply them to AC3: Liberation. Liberation didn’t have all the flaws that Uncharted does (swiping for melee, yuck), but it did have a few of it’s own in the same vein. So it’s about the same general idea of what to expect.

Nothing that totally ruins the game, but is annoying regardless. People seem okay with overlooking Uncharted’s faults. While they are far less likely to overlook those similar faults in AC3:L. Liberation made HUGE strides in providing a real AC experience on a handheld.

I really hope that Ubisoft confirms another Vita AC. I’d love to see them improve on it.

            • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Sounds reasonable to me! I’m also hoping that another AC is in the works especially with my excitement for Black Flag. Also preordered my PS4 officially via Amazon. Kinda regret missing the Day One =(

  • Budgiecat

Smash Bros WiiU Needs a Dragon Quest hero imo

Which one would you choose? obviously Eight is out (PS2 exclusive)

    • Tetsu

      That would be awesome!
For his Final Smash he’d turn the screen into first person DQ style and you would select from a command list to use the move! :D

  • Locksus

Oh, boy. I took out my old SNES out of my closet and started playing some DKC and DKC2 after many many years and damn, I’m having lots of fun with the games, even though they are like 2 decades old now. Haven’t had this much fun in a while :P

    • Azuardo

DKC series is one of the finest 2D series created. Could replay them for the rest of my life.

      • Locksus

I second that. The second one is one of my favourite games of all time, if not my favourite. I just love it.

        • Azuardo

Yeah, and such beautiful soundtracks, too. I was so happy to see Dixie Kong returning in the new DKC game. Been asking for her return for years! Also glad that snow and underwater levels are back (bad decision not to include them in DKCR), but not sure about the oxygen bar for underwater levels.

          • Locksus

yeah, I agree. I just bought DKCR 3D a few days ago, and I was a little bit disappointed that they didn’t include water levels and the soundtrack isn’t as good as in the originals, but it’s good otherwise.
I really want to get a Wii U for the new DKC game.
Very happy that David Wise is composing the soundtrack for the game.

            • Azuardo

DKCR was a brilliant 2D platformer, only let down by some silly decisions – forced motion controls, no underwater & snow levels, poorer soundtrack, too many foresty stages (no Dixie Kong :P). So yeah, now that all these will be fixed in DKC Wii U, and with Wise composing, like you say, this could be fantastic.

              • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Admittedly, now Kiddy Kong is missing xD Having Dixie is good though =]

            • AdamBoy64

That’s great news that David Wise is composing for the new game. That’s exciting stuff.

        • AdamBoy64

          DKC2 is a brilliant game.
It is such a fantastic game.

  • LastBoss

I need to get my purple 3DS XL, and get my ass on some Fire Emblem.

So com needs to make a return, but with mix of the Divisions engine, and frostbite engine.

I hope Sony drops the MotorStorm franchise to bring back JetMoto.

    • Locksus

Wow, where did you find a purple XL version? I just bought a red one last weekend. I’m also paying through FE now, so feel free to add me if you want :) My friend code is 2809-8219-4683

    • Elvick

Implying that they’re still making MotorStorm. The last one was RC, which is hardly the same as the others.

I’d say the series is on hiatus, if not dead.

  • Elvick

Beat Tales of Graces ƒ. Doing the extra stuff (forgot what they called it) now. Saved over my original file… will I be unable to do NG+ now? I didn’t think of that until after the save process was over. xP Anyone know?

I really like this game, though the ending was kind of ‘eh’ for me. I’m liking where this new chapter is going though. How long is it for those who’ve played it?

Ugg, I really wish Namco would localize Tales on Vita. D:

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

      Did you not see the results of #jrpgvita? Tales chances rose up that’s for sure. Also did you finish the Future Arc? That’s pretty much the determining process for NG+ The real extra stuff is the side quests back in the non-future arc, which I’m also supposed to be doing. I say suppose to cause I took a break after getting owned >>;

      • Elvick

Pretty sure that’s what I’m doing now. The Future Arc, I mean. And it gave multiple different options. NG+ was there, and the arc. I chose the arc first. Can you not start the NG+ right after the game is ‘stared’? :/ If that’s the case, why would it even display?

And, just because everyone wanted it doesn’t mean it’ll happen. With Tales I have little faith in Namco Bandai, especially on Vita.

But, DBZ is a step forward for them. So who knows, maybe Sony will polish the gears to make it happen.

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Hmm I recall that to, I’m not sure how much of the benefits you get if you don’t the future arc first then NG+. So yeah, good call with picking the Future Arc. Honestly you’re not really done until you finish that so enjoy <3 What I meant by extra stuff is things you can do back in the normal timeline which may or may not (so don't quote me) require a Future F playthrough first. I did the Future Arc then returned with some nice boosts and I'm still struggling =(

        • futuristic_imagination

Just listen to “Kurisu Makise” and just enjoy future arc, and get some of Richard’s titles. Plus when your done, you get back to the last boss save before F arc, and you get the nice benefits from the Future arc. Then you can start the Zhonecage side-quest.

I remembered that I stopped at the 10th floor, because if you beat the last boss in Zhonecage, the last boss in G-shaft gets powered up. So I had to go back to get the 60 sec trophy and that is where I stopped before I got distracted by other games.

Man I have to start playing this game again!

  • Lelouch Vi Britannia

While Microsoft changed their policies last week. I’m still not convinced as SONY hit the mark for me, and I’m definitely Really considering Pre-Ordering a PS4.
