So, I played The Last Of Us for two hours.
Can’t really say anything, yet, but you can feel that it’s a Naughty Dog game.
The Prologue is also very strong.
I also tried the multiplayer mode, which I’m not really a fan of.
Your beginning weapons suck basically dick. You might as well throw cotton at your enemies.
And it’s annoying how you can’t dodge or dive into cover.
At the end my PS3 froze….Goddamn 6 year old piece of junk!

    • bloodiOS

My phat PS3 can’t even play any recent Tekken games without crashing (like 10 seconds after a fight starts)… I might consider picking up a Super Slim somewhere down the line…

      • xMCXx

Yeah, I was also thinking about that. The fan is also very loud…
        But 12 GB?
        Eh, I dunno.
Oh, just saw that there is a 500 GB version.^^

        • bloodiOS

Well, I’m debating on whether or not I should get this bundle.

          • xMCXx

            Oh, that seems pretty good.

      • Budgiecat

I don’ know whats wrong with you guys. I got a launch 360 and a 2008 PS Fat and I’ve been known to leave them running for days sometimes up to 7 days and I’ve been doing this for years and never any problems

        • Tetsu

Maybe the 7 days is like a re-occurring cpu reset for the consoles cause the chips get melted.
          Take THAT RROD/YLOD!

        • bloodiOS

I left my PS3 running for a whole month playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope (because I didn’t want to lose the combat bonus that reset every time you load your save), and it runs perfectly fine. As matter of fact, my PS3 runs most of its games fine and smooth, with the exception of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Dust 514 (the latter doesn’t even start…)

  • Tac-Mex

I am sad that Final Fantasy XV is not longer a PlayStation exclusive :(

    • rainelee

Speaking of FF XV, who else thought Noctis as a child is one of the cutest things? :P

      • GetOffMy_Lawn

I personally thought he was creepy as a kid. I thought it looked like he had Mumps.

        • rainelee

I’m pretty sure that’s because he was pouting or he had food in his mouth previously.

      • bloodiOS

Yeah, but his dad was cuter.

    • LordKaiser

It don’t mater. Xbone was buried last week.

      • Tac-Mex

I read that PS4 is the lead platform and the Xbone would get a port, can anyone confirm this?

        • bloodiOS

I thought they said that they’ll stuff both versions with whatever codes that pops out of the PC, then trim things off as necessary. So I figure that the Xbox One version will have more trimmed out of it in comparison to the PS4 version.

        • Solomon_Kano

The game is developed in a PC “overspec” environment and then they just shift it to whatever console can handle it and trim down what it can’t handle. So there’s no lead platform between the two, but the X1 is essentially in the same situation as if it were a port as they’ll likely need to do more trimming there.

For the uninformed person who downvoted me:

          http://gematsu.com/2013/06/nomura-talks-kingdom-hearts-and-final-fantasy-xv

          Read and learn.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Correct. Game development starts on PC. It just seems like taking the game from PC and porting it to the PS4 is very easy. This is according to multiple game developers who have said as much.

        • King-Prodigy-X

PS4 is the lead platform, considering the fact that Japanese don’t like Xbox, not much Xbots care about Final Fantasy ( just look at FF XIII & FF XIII-2 sales), its Nomura, PS4 is a $100 cheaper, & the game was originally suppose to be exclusive to the PS3.

    • GetOffMy_Lawn

      I’m happy about it.

It looks like Square-Enix is beginning to listen to what their fans want, and that’s great. The only problem is that fans want JRPGs, and JRPGs just do not sell as much as other games. SE isn’t doing too great, and they need both money AND the return of their fans. By making the game multiplat they are creating a larger audience, thus making more money, and they are also pleasing fans.
Simply put, more multiplat games = more fan-desired games.

      • Tac-Mex

I doubt that dudebros play Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy on Xbone, they would rather play brownnbloom 1 and 2 , also Xbone is launching in Asia 1 year later, why SE is bothering doing a port?

        • GetOffMy_Lawn

Mehh the “dudebros” thing is just a stereotype, and I don’t put much credit into stereotypes.
I think you underestimate the size of the Kingdom Hearts fanbase. That is a game that appeals to Hardcore JRPG fans, action game fans, Disney fans, Final Fantasy fans, and yes, even some “dudebros”. It will definitely sell on xbone. Probably not as much as on PS4, but it will not tank as many have suggested. FFXV has similar appeal due to its similarities to KH.

          • Budgiecat

One things for sure; hardly anyone in Japan cares for XBox systems. Just the shoot em up/visual novel Otakus

        • harutrixy

Because whatever SE is using to develop the game allows them to easily port the game to any consoles that support Direct x11, which in this case is the PS4 and Xbone.

Looking it from a business perspective it’s a no brainer. 1. it’s easy to port and 2. more sales = more funding for future projects.

Honestly, the people that are going to have a problem with exclusivity are the ones using certain games as justification for getting a PS4, or butt-hurt Sony fans that want to brag that they can play such a great game while fellow Xboners are left with crummy shooters.

Yus, I’m planning on getting both the PS4 and the PS4 version of Versus, and will be happy for Xboners to enjoy the same game.

      • Elvick

        Multiplat =/= more money

      • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

One does not simply guarantee more profits just by going multiplatform…

  • RSene

    So.. ah….

    Fantastic Sony E3
    New KH
    FFXV confirmed

    what a week!

  • Lelouch Vi Britannia

All I have to say is PS3,PS4,Xbox 360, and Wii U > Xbox ONE.

  • RSene

You Know.. as a huge fan of Nintendo, I’m very worried, indeed…

Bur after MS did in the last two months or so, I can se a light at the end of the tunnel :)

  • GetOffMy_Lawn

I thought this E3 was the best in recent memory. So many incredible announcements/games, and so much fan service. My body was NOT ready. My personal favorite E3 2013 moments were (In order of Hypeness):
    1. Kingdom Hearts 3
    2. Super Smash Bros.+ Mega Man+Villager
    3. Star Wars Battlefront
    4. Metal Gear Solid V
    5. Final Fantasy XV
    6. Lightning Returns
    7. X
    8. Splinter Cell: Blacklist (I know it wasn’t anything new, but I recently got into this series and absolutely LOVE it!!)
I tried to do a top 5, but there was too much awesomeness.
So that’s what I think… what does everyone else think?

    • Solomon_Kano

Yea, this is really the best E3 I’ve seen in a while.

      My favorite moments were:

      1. XV

      2. MGSV/new MGO

      3. KH3

      4. Battlefront

      6. The Division

      7. Destiny

      8. Bayo 2

      9. The Crew

      10. Smash

Everybody brought SOMETHING this year, so it was tough to try and narrow this list down to anything lol.

    • OverlordZetta

Personally really disappointed in Sony’s lackluster Vita show (indies and a F2P), which would be fine if they were normally giving the thing the attention it deserves and needs, but they’re…not, so as awesome as the PS4 showing was, I just came out of that feeling incredibly frustrated.

      • Elvick

Forgot GoW Collection and other ports.

New games take time. At least we have something in the middle. Besides, they didn’t announce a price cut either… nor did they price that Walking Dead bundle, so odds are we’ll see a price drop announcement before August (or whenever that bundle comes out).

Hopefully it’s at an event that announces some games.

Would I have liked them to just announce something new? Yes.

        • Solomon_Kano

Based on Sony’s record, I think Gamescom is probably when we’ll hear a price drop. It’s in August and the bundle releases in August, so it’d be good timing. That’s also where they revealed KZ and Tearaway last year, so I think it’s a safe bet.

          • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

NA isn’t really big on portable gaming so I’m not surprised… Gamescom and TGS is where it’s at…

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

They really saved Vita stuff for Gamescom last year. I think this year might be the same.

    • Budgiecat

I think they shoulda announced Shenmue III, Shenmue HD collecion, Yakuza 5 localization and showed another video of Last Guardian

      and a Gamera game

      • Tetsu

From the sounds of it Yu Suzuki was interested in the idea of crowd funding for Shenmue III.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Agreed. This was the best e3 in years. One negative was that Nintendo didn’t have an actual e3 press conference.

Another would be Microsoft. Very good press event for them, especially when you compare it to the past few years of MS press events. The awful policies were the omega elephant in the room though. They didn’t even discuss them, which made it much worse.

    • Tetsu

      Final Fantasy XV
      Kingdom Hearts 3
      Super Smash Bros.
      Bayonetta 2
      Metal Gear Solid V
      X
      Lightning Returns
      Destiny
DKC: Tropical Freeze (even though I was hoping for a different Retro game)
Game from the Scott Pilgrim game developers

I’m also excited about Mario Kart 8, but I was certain that it would come out this year, and to find out it’s not till next year (same with Bayo 2, Smash Bros and X) was a little disheartening.

My biggest disappointment was Mario 3D World being the Mario game they were announcing. I wanted the successor to Galaxy or whatever it may be, no mainline Mario game was a let-down, I was highly anticipating it.

      • Solomon_Kano

The new game from the Scott Pilgrim folks looks sick! I’ve been wanting a new Metal Slug forever, but it looks like they’ll scratch that itch before SNK does.

        • Tetsu

Yeah I was really stoked for that kind of indie calibur already gearing up for PS4, I’m excited to see what other indie offerings we’re gonna get.

  • RSene

I got impressed by how ppl really love KH after seing how ppl reacted to the KH announce. The one below is just an example (there are others even more funny :))

  • Cry_Zero

The Last Of Us is the best Ps3 exclusive and one of the best games ever!

  • Willgaea

“In Dark Souls 2, you will fight a monstrous boss and, at the same
time, engage in PvP combat with a human enemy hellbent on your
destruction and the spoils your death will bring.” -Polygon

So in dark souls 2 there is a boss called the Mirror knight. During the battle he summons another person from his shield. The kicker is that the person is another player, so basically this boss has a human controlled person fighting alongside him. It sounds awesome but I’ve been thinking about this battle. What happens if you play this game offline, wouldn’t that just ruin the whole aspect of this battle. The only thing I could think to counter my last statement would be to make the offline boss invincible making the player have to play online. But not everyone can go online so that would just end the game for some people. I don’t think this is going to work.

    • xMCXx

Reminds me of The Monk from Demon’s Souls.

      • coax

Yep, they’ve already done this. Not that I mind seeing it again.

    • bloodiOS

They’ll just have to pop out a real badass NPC as the replacement.

      • Willgaea

Maybe the NPC could just be a exact copy of the said player. Same equips and fighting style taken from your previous battles.

  • GetOffMy_Lawn

If anyone’s looking for a good laugh, or just wants more evidence as to how desperate Microsoft has become this week, I’d suggest taking a look at this. Apparently Microsoft is sending employees to Nintendo’s Best Buy event to ask the people standing in line for the demos “why bother with a Wii U when you can pre-order an Xbox One?” A NeoGAF user took a picture of one such sales rep. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=587891
Oh how the mighty have fallen, Microsoft…

    • xMCXx

      It’s apparently not true.

      • KingNigma

True or not I got my good laugh.

  • DichaTesoro

    Nice choice of image there.

  • bloodiOS

Just watched Man of Steel. It started out very slow but once the crap hit the fan, it was pretty exciting. In my opinion, it was undoubtedly the best Superman movie ever made. It was nice to see Superman got some serious beating, it wouldn’t be good unless the protagonist struggles during a fight after all.

Just picked up my pre-order of The Last of Us, but I am unable to play it yet since my PS3 is downloading the β of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn… and by Heaven, it’s taking its time…

    • Zackasaur

I’m in the beta, as well!

      • bloodiOS

Awesome! Too bad I probably can’t play it until tomorrow…

    • MrKappa

Everyone has gotten in that damn beta expect me.

      • Solomon_Kano

I haven’t gotten in either. Damn.

        • Tetsu

          Me neither, damn!

      • Elvick

If it makes you feel better, my code doesn’t work.

    • Elvick

I got into the beta too :D

      edit my code doesn’t work. );

    • Budgiecat

Oh shit I’m gonna go see it now then *hops on 2007 Kawasaki Ninja and leaves*

    • new_tradition

Kewl, I’ll try you check out the movie. Haven’t been to the theater since Iron man 3.

As for the Beta, I got my email too, but it was a EU invite strangely. I kind of want to submit a support ticket so I can get my NA stuff, but reportedly it only applies to US residents, and I’m Canadian, so I dunno what to do :/

  • Solomon_Kano

Ha! I made that image my avatar a while back! Noctis’ pop is a cool dude.

    • bloodiOS

The old geezer in white better not kill him. Man, if he dies, I’m so gonna rage…

      • Solomon_Kano

Oh man, I really hope he doesn’t kill him.

        • Willgaea

Someone is going to have to die.

          • Solomon_Kano

            But don’t let it be him. ;_;

            • Willgaea

I think he will be fine only because hes going to make this game into a series.

              • Solomon_Kano

That actually makes me think he’ll die even more lol, just maybe not in the first game. Aw crap.

  • Tac-Mex

So, what do you think about Xbox One after E3?

    • bloodiOS

      What do you think?
      ;)

    • Elvick

      lol

    • confused_wanderer

I think with the perceived success microsoft had with the xbox360, they felt the need to shoot themselves in the foot. to bad the arrogant fools took a rocket launcher and blew of half their damn leg with it.

    • new_tradition

I’m starting to think there’s some conspiracy going on here. Why did Microsoft think they could get away with all those restrictions without user backlash?

Did Sony and Microsoft meet to do some collusion but Sony was just trolling Microsoft? Sounds crazy, but I think a lot of what I liked about the PS4 was just verifying all the stuff it wasn’t going to do.

      • Budgiecat

The success of the PS2 made Sony become too arrogant with the PS3 and they fell back due to their arrogance for a while.

The success of the XBox 360 has not made Microsoft do the same thing but now even worse.

  • jujubee88

Okay, you NEED stop whatever you are doing now to check out “Transistor” for PS4. ~~Words.Do.This.Game.No.Justice.~~

Check this out, the E3 presentation just went up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoPOe4nY2yI

    • bloodiOS

      It certainly is nice.

      • jujubee88

Did you see the use of PS4 lightbar? Awesome blue LED light pulses react to the narrator talking in the game.

Man, that’s what I want. Innovate gameplay. Innovative hardware. That is freaking next gen. That’s why I just plunked down 100 bucks at gamestop.

Now to play the waiting game! :-)

        • Elvick

But Sony never innovates. They just copy. /sarcasm

I mean, I loved my rear touch pad on my DS. Analog sticks on my Gameboy Color were awesome.

          • jujubee88

lol You sound so ssssssalteh. :P

            • Elvick

People say Sony *only* copies Nintendo and MS all the time.

I’m just making fun of their stupid. That doesn’t make me salty. If they wish to be ignorant, more power to ‘em. I’ll still make fun of them.

              • jujubee88

If a thing is fun, whatever.

                Don’t overthink. :P

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Yeah. This game has been on my buy list since I watched the very first demo. It looks like lots of fun, and the visuals & music are fantastic.

      • jujubee88

Yeah, and I can’t wait to see the combo’s people use on the share feature. It’ll give me ideas (like you said) the visuals and sounds really keep me going back.

Looking at this game makes me very reminiscent of Persona 3 for some reason.

    • Tetsu

That was cool, I’m glad they changed the running animation, seems more natural now. Cool use of the lightbar too.

  • Zackasaur

So, share your PSN ID if you’re getting a PS4 this year!

  • Charlie

Who collects games here and not for the sole purpose to play them? I want to see if I’m not the only crazy person here.

    • Tac-Mex

I buy and collect them ;)

    • Sevyne

      I collect.

    • $24431191

I collect games as well. I buy everything new and I never sell anything back either.

      • Charlie

I do the same thing 95 percent of the time. Excluding older games, of course.

    • Elvick

Not really, but I do buy games way too fast to play them all. :/

Still continue to do it… I want to play them all though.

    • MosquitoLemon

Very rarely, but I have bought a few to collect. I usually have the intent to play them, but it doesn’t always happen.

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

I’m guilty for that to some games….

    • new_tradition

With my massive backlog, it really does feel like I just collect them for lulz >_>

So M$ devkits have Nvidia cards. Is that what your saying.

      Ouch. Hope I don’t encounter this :/

      I just got the game.

    • xMCXx

      There’s a save bug?!

    • MrKappa

ND said on twitter that they already fixed the bug but I guess not for everyone.

      • Elvick

More specifically, if you were still playing it. Exit to the XMB, and then relaunch the game. That’ll fix it.

Should be fine for anyone now, but on the off chance someone hasn’t stopped playing it at all since they fixed it… (and checked here) there ya go.

      • bloodiOS

Well, to be safe, it’s better to reboot and then disable the network connection before you start the game.

  • King-Prodigy-X
    • bloodiOS

      That was quick!

    • Tetsu

So that’s how big the Xbox One is.

  • xMCXx

I don’t get all that hype around the Wii-Fit Trainer.
Apparently I’m the only one not really liking her.
    I know I won’t play as her.
    Same with the Villager.
I thought E3 is about announcing cool stuff, which blows your mind, but Nintendo is kinda boring.
Yes, a new SSB, yes a new MK, The Wind Waker: Bloom Edition…yada yada. :-/

    • Sevyne

The only things I was really hyped about from Nintendo at E3 were the new footage from X and Bayonetta 2.

    • Solomon_Kano

I won’t play as her either, but I thought she made for a cool choice of character. Wii Fit certainly wasn’t a franchise I expected to see represented in Smash Bros., so it’s something different.

Nintendo’s E3 was all about Bayo 2 for me. Glorious, glorious Bayo 2.

      • Sevyne

        Gloriously short-haired Bayonetta!

      • Kobracon

Dat demo. Goddamn I want it in my VEINS!

      • Budgiecat

Bayonetta shoulda been in Smash Bros

        • Solomon_Kano

She may yet be! I sure hope she is, anyway.

    • MrRobbyM

Nintendo is always gonna be Nintendo. Can’t expect anything new from them. That’s not to say that I’m not excited for the WW remake, MK and SSB. Thought I can’t say I’m blown away either.

Wii-Fit trainer is a joke character, really. Quirky and fun to play as. Villager cuz, why not? It’s a character from a poplar Ninty franchise.

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

To me… Introducing Wii-Fit Trainer is a sign that Sakurai lost his sanity while making SSB…

Remember what he went through developing SSB Melee?

  • LordKaiser
    • bloodiOS

It’s too bad that these folks probably won’t be able to enjoy any new release of their favorite series again. If I was them, I’ll probably want to shove an amp up the responsible party’s…

    • Elvick

I don’t know why they want MS to work with them for “work arounds”.

Buy PS4s. Reward Sony for not being assholes.

      I guess it’s because it’s a Japanese company? smh…

      • bloodiOS

Well, it’s understandable, since several of them seem to feel attached to the Xbox exclusives. They can’t enjoy those on the PS4.

        • Elvick

They can’t enjoy those at all on the Xbox One due to the stupid DRM so… it hardly matters. They’ll get over it and probably end up not really missing them once they give alternatives a try.

  • bloodiOS

Has anyone seen the E3 gameplay footage of The Evil Within? What’s your impression of it?

    • Charlie

I absolutely cannot wait. I’ve been waiting for a “true” horror game for a long time and this looks like it shaping up to be exactly that.

  • http://twitter.com/Nates4Christ Nate

It’s messed up kojima fired David Hayter but kept the Japanese voice actor for snake in MGS5. I should vote with my wallet. :

    • Budgiecat

Hayter should have never voiced Big Boss to begin with in MGS3, MGS PO & PGS PW. Especially since he doesn’t voice him in MGS4

  • MosquitoLemon

Finished Sengoku Basara 1, started playing 2, only to find that it comes with all characters unlocked (SB1 still had you unlock everyone). That’s kind of a bummer, since I loved playing everyone and unlocking them one by one the first time. I may just play story and unification with Hideyoshi and then move to SB3.

I also finished EX Troopers! Super-fun game! Though the plasma blade you get is crazy broken -_-

And I also tried Tekken Unlimited! The mechanics are actually kind of interesting, plus it’s really fun stomping people who don’t know how to play without bound, but I think once people understand the weird counter-hit move system (and the corresponding stat), it’ll get boring quick.

  • confused_wanderer

Does anyone understand why all the meme’s for the villager have been created? Is it some kind of inside joke or something? Also who saw the end of the ff XV combat trailer and broke their jaws with the leviathan scene.

    • Solomon_Kano

He looks creepy in the new Smash Bros. trailer. That’s pretty much the entirety of the meme.

And, yea, that Leviathan scene was awesome. Old information* says we’ve gotta fight summons before we can use them, so that should be pretty freaking amazing.

      * http://www.ff-versusxiii.net/index.php?page=content&name_id=versus_battle

    • http://zefhar.deviantart.com Zefhar

      Ahh yes, Leviathan.

I notice how you refer to the combat trailer only. The Announcement Trailer has a glimpse of Leviathan too, you know.

      http://youtu.be/Rbwm-mzm5QA?t=2m8s (starts at 2:08)

But I agree, the water scene at the end of the other trailer is… simply awesome.

The game looks so great… I only hope it’s not linear and has proper towns (with meaningful NPC-to-player dialogue) and areas with enjoyable, free exploration (with treasure chests and whatnot) XD

      • confused_wanderer

damn I watched that trailer and didnt even notice. Got sharp eyes man.

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

      that entire trailer was amazing

  • LordKaiser

      So low, so sad

  • Solomon_Kano

Oh yea, I finally got a 3DS this week, though I’ve no games for it. Got it for $120 then bought a charger + stand for $10 before realizing I could’ve gotten all that for the same price from Nintendo in the color I actually wanted and with a year warranty. Damn. -__-‘

On the plus side, there was already about $15 of eShop credit on the system when I got it, so I’ll be able to get a game or two. Dunno what to get yet, though I’m contemplating Liberation Maiden. Fire Emblem or PXZ will likely be the first retail games I get, since I enjoyed their demos.

Next up is a Wii U, then a PS4 for the holidays.

    • Sevyne

Get Mighty Switch Force 1 and 2. Those are some of the best games on the eShop. Liberation Maiden was pretty neat, though way too short.

      • Solomon_Kano

I was considering MSF as well, so a recommendation is certainly encouraging. I’ll check it out.

    • Ritsujun

      Nokuto no papa.

  • Dandelion

Any news about Deep Down? or that Phanta Rhei engine form capcom ? Trailer looked awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbFBEjlKtpY

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

not that I know of :

    • Willgaea

The only information I can give is that we all want to play it.

  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I missed out on PS All Stars when it released. I just bought it on PSN for $14 because I have plus. That includes the Vita version too. Pretty nice deal imo.

I also bought Sound Shapes for $3.75. Got both versions of it too. =)

    • Sevyne

Those E3 deals are really good for plus. If you haven’t gotten Tomb Raider yet, I highly recommend that one. It’s only $20 now (e3 psn sale) and it’s probably one of the best games I’ve played this year. I’m not even a Tomb Raider fan. They just rebooted it to near perfection.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I bought Tomb Raider at launch. I hate to admit I haven’t had the chance to play it yet. The copy I got from Best Buy included a nice comic.

        http://i.imgur.com/bHyRheg.jpg

        • Sevyne

Ahh, nice. When you get around to it, don’t let the beginning of the game put you off. It starts off pretty bad with a ton of QTEs, but after the intro stuff it really opens up nicely and the QTE’s become much more rare. I made the mistake of playing the opening of the game and then dropping it for a month. Went back to it just randomly and I’m so glad I did.

Gameplay and the general layout feel more like a cross of the Arkham games and Metroid. The story and characters are extremely well done too.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Will do. I’m hoping to play it here soon. I’ve been super busy with work. Very little time to game the past two weeks +
            =/

It’s cool though. The money earned will be very helpful in the end. I’m very much looking forward to finishing up this project.

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

You, me PS All Stars, asap!

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m not sure when that will be. I’ll really try to make that happen soon! I’ve been so busy with work and e3, the past few weeks I’ve had no time for gaming. It sorta sucks. =(

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

No worries, once the time is available. I’m always trying to get more time in that game.

  • bloodiOS

Playing The Last of Us right now and Heaven, it packed one hell of an intro, made me cried a bit at the end of it.

  • dzeidzei

Who else here is getting Time and Eternity? I’ve been kinda hearing it might not be the best game ever but I’m still pretty sure I’ll enjoy it. This is coming from a guy who found some enjoyment in Last Rebellion.

    • Elvick

Me. Got the LE preordered. I enjoyed Last Rebellion too, despite all it’s many faults.

  • Azuardo

My laptop died on me during E3, but luckily only after I had watched all the conferences live. So been living off of the internet browsers of my 3DS and PS3 mainly the last few days xD But brand new lappy arrived today, and it feels so good :)

Best E3 in a long time. So happy to see FFXV, and even though I’m worried I’ve completely grown out of KH, it’s lovely to see KH3 at last. I’ll likely still buy it in the end. Very tempted to buy a PS4 at launch based on the good price, but will see what launch games it has.

With lack of internet, managed to finish Enslaved, which was pretty good, and Assassin’s Creed 3, which was pretty crappy (boring and full of glitches). AC4 already looks miles better than AC3.

But I have also started the FFXIV PS3 beta and really enjoying it! Never played MMOs before, so it’s new to me, but really cool. Just a shame it’s a subscription game. If it was a one-off purchase, I’d get it.

    • Elvick

Enslaved is amazing~ sucks it sold so poorly.

My code for FFXIV beta didn’t work, I think it might be because I’m in Canada, but not sure. Sucks.

      • Azuardo

Oh no, that sucks! I wonder why that is… Maybe you could check out the forums and see if other people have the same problem. See if it’s just Canadians with the problem. Though I wouldn’t have thought that would be it.

        • Elvick

Tons of people have this problem. May say they’re from Canada, some from Mexico and I saw at least one say he’s from the US and had problems too.

          :/

          • Pyrofrost

It was a problem in NA/EU codes. Canada and Mexico are lumped in with NA when it comes to the codes.

  • PrinceHeir

wow i haven’t been commenting much on the site XD

i’ll be back since im fixing my classes for Fall and backing up tons of files and all.

i hope my HDD gets fixed now!!

been a year since i trip the HDD, it’s working, but the computer can’t read it due to having a malfunction connector.

i disassembled it and will connect the actually hardrive itself on a computer to see if it works.

i hope it does, since i have some PS1 saves i’ve backed up from my PS3(Parasite Eve, Resident Evil 3) and some PSP Saves(Peace Walker T__T)

  • PrinceHeir

Vote for your next Dead or Alive 5 costumes :)

    http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/form/vote_doa

just click one of the pictures you like the most, then hit the pink button :D

Team D is leading now, but i prefer Team A ^^

    • Azuardo

I have to say, I’m a Kasumi fighter so I have to vote for D :)

I really want DOA5U and I hope, hope, hope that Ryo Hazuki will be in it. I know it sounds silly, but they worked with SEGA to get Virtua Fighter characters in it after all, and there was a comment in the past that Ryo could be in it. Then of course Ryo’s voice actor posted a pic of him recording lines for an unknown game (it could be Shenmue HD or 3 but…nothing was said at E3). So with more characters still to come, I hope Ryo is true.

Honestly, it’s unlikely. But I still hope :) And if not, well I will still be looking forward to this game!

But man, I really wanna see a DOA6 on PS4!

      • PrinceHeir

tbh i kinda wish they saved the VF characters for the crossover.

i don’t know, it just feels weird to have a main DOA game, but with VF characters.

i know VF has been a BIG inspiration to Dead or Alive as well as Tekken series.

but in any case the characters really worked well :)

also i think Ryo Hazuki and Kazama Kiryu should appear in VF6 just because it is the series 25th anniversary(edit 20th anniversary) this year(why no announcement Sega? TGS 2013?)

in another news, i haven’t been playing DOA5 that much, and my interest in Tekken Tag 2 is dwindling as well.

guess i need some completely new mechanics huh?

and yes would love to see Dead or Alive 6 and Virtua Fighter 6 on PS4 :)

throw in Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur VI as well for PS4

        love 3D Fighting games!!!!!

        • Azuardo

That’s a good idea. Then maybe Ryo’s VA is recording lines for him being in VF6? That’s possible. That would make me buy my first VF game!

I haven’t played much DOA5 either. I was thinking of trying it again with all the DOA5U news, but might just wait a while. Not even sure I’ll pick it up straight away anyway. Hopefully it will come down in price quite quickly.

        • MosquitoLemon

Play Tekken Revolution, hahaha. It’s fun for a while.

        • Budgiecat

          Erhgeiz 2

    • MosquitoLemon

O is the only one with a Mila in it though :

      • PrinceHeir

i think this applies to all character(i think or hopefully)

        • MosquitoLemon

I’m sure they’ll release all those shown eventually, but it’s definitely just for whoever is in the picture.

  • Solomon_Kano

So it turns out that I actually did get into XIV’s beta. Success!

    • Bobby Jennings

No fair, I wanna play the beta T_T.

      • Solomon_Kano

Try downloading the E3 trailer from PSN. It enters you for a chance to get in the beta.

        • Bobby Jennings

I’ll try, thanks! How’s the game so far?

          • Solomon_Kano

I really like it. It’s like XII and then some.

            • Bobby Jennings

I actually enjoyed XII a bit. Do you know if they send you the invitation by email or do they send it to your PSN mail?

              • Solomon_Kano

They emailed me mine, but I’d check both.

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Congrats, I envy you of course, but congrats!

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, if it’s any consolation, I’d be more than willing to share my thoughts on the beta with you. You should also try DL’ing the E3 trailer on PSN if you haven’t as it enters you for a chance to get into the beta.

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Admittedly, I already entered for the beta via the FFXIII access so I should probably just wait and see but thanks for that advice =3

          • Solomon_Kano

Hey, never hurts to have more entries! Good luck on getting in though.

  • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

So after months of trying (and failing) to save, in a E3 hurricane effort, I seem to have assembled up the money I’ll need to potentially fund a Vita and the Animal Crossing 3DS XL. However money like this doesn’t normally come so quickly and I’m a bit concerned about spending more money on a 3DS than I am on a Vita (getting the Vita second hand [150-180 range], vs giving Best Buy Canada $248.59). So I figured I’d ask you guys, some thoughts/advice. $248.59 is a lot of money especially when I could grab an XL second hand like the Vita and dedicate the rest of that to a few titles but I really like the look of the Animal Crossing XL, so I’m conflicted =

    • Pyrofrost

I honestly don’t like getting consoles second hand at all. Used games are one thing, but consoles are completely different.

I would honestly just pick the one that is offering the most of what you want in games right now, and buy it new.
Then save up to get the other one new later. That is my advice.

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Admittedly, I think the title listing for both platforms is pretty evenly split for my tastes. I’m mostly a handheld gamer first and foremost, so jumping into both was always a matter of when, not if. Interesting perspective about simply going for one platform new. Do you usually pick up an extended warranty when you do so? I see a compelling argument for doing this as the opposite platform’s budget could be a ton of games no questions.

        • Pyrofrost

I only get an extended warranty depending on the amount of money spent. A 3DS or PSV, no. A launch 60GB PS3 or PS4, yes.

All in all, I just hate getting consoles used. I don’t know or can’t tell how well other people care for their things. I know I treat my games, consoles, and electronics as if they were my children. However, I’ve seen people attempt to trade in consoles that look as if they’ve been kicked down the street. Needless to say, I don’t trust how others treat their shit, lol.

If you don’t have the money to get both new at once. I say get one new now, and one new later. You know whose hands it has been in, and you know exactly how well taken care of it is. You can enjoy the system with no doubts.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

That actually sounds pretty reasonable, honestly. If I do that, I think due to rarity/limited supply, I’d have to get the 3DS XL first, I’ve already seen the scalpers trying to sell it for $300+ which I can’t justify, at all. I could wait until The Walking Dead Vita bundle comes out hmm decisions, decisions. I’ll make the call this week for sure and I guess I’ll chime in either in this Open Forum or next what my decision was.

            Thanks Pyro~!

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I always check out ebay for good deals. That’s just me though. Always look at auctions with good pictures, details, and the seller has positive feedback.

I think you should look for the best deals that benefit you.

I’d also say patience plays a part. I’ve been in similar situations. Where I’ve waited and life forces me to spend money on something else. In other words, sometimes waiting doesn’t work out either.

          Just some food for thought.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Thanks for the advice Zero. Yes, actually what you said is precisely what I’m worried about. I’m actually not interested in a normal 3DS XL at all. It’s pretty much Animal Crossing one or I wait for the next revision and since Ace Attorney is coming out this year…I feel my hand is forced to do something soon.

Where as with Vita, second hand or new, provided it’s working well, I’m not particularly picky on the model. I’m sure it’ll get a revision and if I see a special edition I like maybe I’ll double dip but the main concern on the Vita front is just owning one so I can play all the good titles released so far and it’s been stacking.

    • Elvick

      https://www.facebook.com/PlayStationCanada?hc_location=timeline
(still don’t know how to link to a specific status on facebook)

There’s a lot of PS Vita deals, some great ones on the system for $199 including bundles listed there too like this one “PlayStation Vita Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation System Bundle With Free Copies of Soul Sacrifice and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita – $249.99 (14th – 16th)”

Not much time to decide on some of those. Plus other various PS related deals.

Worth checking out. Some are at Future Shop, Best Buy and others EB Games.

I’m with Pyrofrost on not liking buying systems second hand (aside from ones out of production where you have no other option).

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Woo thanks for that Elvick, I see they listed EB dropping the wifi bundles down to $199 but on their site it shows $249.99. The other deals sound pretty awesome though, who wouldn’t want $100 towards a PS4 for example. I’ll probably call EB personally to see if there’s a discrepancy online or not.

  • Pyrofrost

I’m in the FFXIV beta as well, and I can confidently say that SE will be getting my money for a VERY long time with this game.

    • Elvick

Are you going to play on PC/PS3 or wait painfully for it on PS4? (if you’re getting one)

      • Pyrofrost

I’m getting it on PS3 for now. When it comes out on PS4, I will actually just get that game and my PS4 on the same day I think. Hopefully they will announce an actual date for the PS4 version before long.

  • Sae-Won Yoon

I lost count of how many times I watched the FFXV and Kh3 trailers. XD

I just can’t get over how beautiful the ps4 looks.
I would poke at microsoft, but at this point they just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

On actual off-topic stuff, Season 2 of My little sister can’t be this cute is surprisingly okay, given the incest tones and all.

Anyone else going to watch Watamote when it comes out?

  • Nice Boat

I’m happy with FF15 and KH3 being announced but I’m worried with the latter. The teaser of KH3 was basically KH2 HD. It had nothing innovative other than the graphics. It then turned out they didn’t even show gameplay footage, that teaser was a cutscene disguised as gameplay (notice how the command menu never changes?). This means that Square barely touched KH3. KH3 is probably in the Versus XIII stage of development. Sadly, we’ll late a lot for the game’s actual release.

And what could make the game innovative? KH2 had balanced controls and alternative modes, BBS had three characters with different moves, DDD had assist characters that helped to create new moves. How could KH3 add something new? I also hope Terra, Ven and Aqua have a better role in this game considering how DDD transformed them into part of “Keikaku” rather than warriors fighting destiny.

    • Azuardo

I too thought the trailer was going to show KH 2.5 HD Remix, and you could tell it wasn’t actual gameplay, though I don’t doubt it could look that good anyway. It’s been too long since I played KH so I don’t really know what they could do, but one of Nomura’s interviews gave hints that more FF characters will return, and Mickey could be playable at some point. But that’s basic stuff that might seem obvious.

    • $18114340

I think they admitted that it was probably too early to talk about KH3. But hey, it worked; the hype train is all guns blazing right now.

      • Nice Boat

Yes but that’s the problem. This is the same train I took when I saw a trailer of Final Fantasy XV (as Versus). Few years later I left the train in Depression Station until I heard of the Revengeance Festival. I took the Hype Train again but what if it takes forever to reach its destination again? I hope TGS proves I’m wrong

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Difference this time Freesun, is that they’re working on easy architecture and Osaka team does work pretty quick, honestly. I’d say 2015 is a reasonable time frame to release KH3 and after Versus ships, they can get some assistance from that team too.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I agree. I expect games to come out quicker this generation. It’s going to be very easy for developers to transfer the game from PC to consoles.

This applies for Japanese studios too. Which makes me very excited.

Let’s not forget, tons of studios have made new fancy engines specifically for the next generation. =)

            • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Yes, Hashimoto wasn’t kidding when he said “Please be excited”. Since he you brought up Japanese studios, I’d love to see how Visual Novels and Adventure games benefit from a next gen platform. I think of things like dynamic dialogue trees, where certain situations can be updated over time or if we take something like Ace Attorney Investigations setup, all NPC dialogue could be updated and with the Cloud remembering various choices made, it might ease down unnecessary difficulty spikes. Alt, players leaving hints Dark Souls style would also be fitting (or the devs haha).

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

The trailer for KH3 did say they begun development after all… It’s a miracle if they made a section or quarter of the game with new stuffs….

  • Ace

Darn, was hoping for a Yakuza 5 localization announcement this year. But you know what…. This is the first E3 where I’ve seen a company single-handedly demolish another company.

  • Charlottes Guardian

Hey Gematsu staff, I was just wondering, have you guys ever thought about making a Gematsu App?

Another gaming site I use is eventhubs, and they recently released an App and its fantastic! Easy to read and see articles on the go on my iPhone 4, and I end up using it a lot as I’m always all over the place :P Seeing as Gematsu is quickly becoming my favorite gaming news site, I just thought it would be pretty cool! Besides that, thanks for all the great stuff you guys do. We appreciate it ^_^

    • $18114340

Even if they don’t make a mobile app, the mobile site is pretty spectacular. Clean and readable, a mobile site that actually resembles the desktop one for once.

  • Charlottes Guardian

On another note, Just saw Man of Steel, and it. was. AWESOME. Like seriously, loved that movie. But I’ve no time for small talk, its back to the FFXVI Beta for me! (Which is going quite well for the skeptics out there)

    • xMCXx

      Wow, someone from the future.^^

      • Charlottes Guardian

Lol, damn it I’m only human!

  • z_merquise

    To the Gematsu staff:

I asked this before but I never got an answer, but anyway, how do you guys determine which games listed in Reader Top 10?

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

I usually just check the our site stats to see which posts about what games are drawing in the most hits.

Unfortunately, since we don’t have a system that lets us create pages for games, we can’t monitor it based on those.

      Sorry I missed this before!

  • Sevyne
    • kuusou yume

Is that just for the US site? Or do they calculate all their stores?

      • Sevyne

I believe it’s just the US site. Looks like Amazon.ca has XBOne at #1 and PS4 at #2. Amazon.co.uk has XBOne at #4 and PS4 at #1. Neither of them seem to have any bundles up for preorder at this time.

      • bloodiOS

Want to see what’s it like for the UK branch?

    http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/06/why-some-in-japan-arent-thrilled-with-final-fantasy-xvs-setting/

Not sure whose side I’m on…. Reality or Fantasy…

“If they’re going to set the game in Japan, then give the characters Japanese faces, too.”
Noctis still looks like a Japanese bishounen, I think… I prefer the first design but that is just my preferences…

    • Elvick

      I like both.

I had hoped that if VS XIII didn’t turn into XV that they’d do another throwback high fantasy game like they did with IX. So, I guess that hope has moved on to XVI.

      • kuusou yume

I hope they make the next FF in that old style.

      • Sevyne

It would be nice to get another one of those, but I’m cool with XV until then. Like you I’ll just hope the next one is another throwback.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Let’s hope that turns out to be the rumored game Ito-san is working on.

    • Nice Boat

Kotaku really focused on trivial stuff. I expect a focus on the plot involving the main character from some kind of mafia family fighting in a gothic environment to end a war rather the design of the cars. The plot’s focus could be the actual reason why it is not interesting Japanese gamers instead of cars.

“Fortunately for that select group on 2ch, there’s Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” or “Please Understand” they’re trying to do something different. Either way, as Elvick said, I too like both. Actually I prefer XV’s take on fantasy as it’s cool and refreshing compared to the Arthurian influenced worlds of past.

    • AnimusVox

I like his clothing better in his original design. Only slightly.

The Last of Us killed my PS3 :(

    But I bought a new one :/

    • bloodiOS

It crashed on me twice already, so I’m thinking of putting the good phat back in the cooler before playing it again…

      • kuusou yume

Yeah, I was using my launch PS3. It was blinking red & I couldn’t fix it. It booted up & kept shutting off until finally never turning back on.

I wasn’t far though, just got to that first part looking for Robert.

I didn’t know the newer ones have a slide out disc door. Really weird.

        • bloodiOS

My first crashed was when the Cooper broke in… Anyway, I think this was to be expected. My phat PS2 had problems with games that were released late in the system’s life cycle, too.

    • Peacenutman

I think the launch phat PS3 is just as faulty as phat Xbox 360 as well. I had one along with 4 other friends, as of now, mine and 3 others already got the YLOD, so yeah, it’s bound to happen. Sorry to hear your PS3 died.

http://nzgamer.com/ps4/features/1213/e3-2013-sega-booth-tour.html where is Phantasy online 2? At this time they should get it canned as more people are starting to move to JP servers. Or just make it so that the game shows in English on our region but uses the same servers as Japan.

    • bloodiOS

Yup, no announcement for Phantasy Star Online 2 or Yakuza 5. The fine folks at Sega America must really enjoy shooting their own feet.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Why did you have to remind me? =(

I didn’t want to be the only one to remember and suffering…

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

It’s better to be more vocal about these things, honestly. I think I might need to shift my fangirling to Tecmo Koei, they give me what I want, SEGA just abuses me like a bad boyfriend (yet I keep making excuses and coming back to them Q.Q).

    • $18114340

Yeah, I’ve kind of given up on PSO2 in the west at this point. Sega seems to be sending the message that they clearly intend for this to only be for Japanese audiences, and they’re not going to bend over backwards for western fans who are more than likely already playing the game if they’re still interested in it.

I can see where they’re coming from — the competition in the west is fierce as far as f2p games go, and I can understand if they might feel that the PSO brand over here isn’t as strong as it once used to be. Still, I feel like the more time they waste the harder it is going to be for them to make any sort of impact in the west. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up cancelling the localization altogether. They don’t seem to be working on it at all, honestly.

    • MosquitoLemon

That’s a bummer, I have a few friends who were actually really interested in getting it when it was released. We all might get split up soon so we were hoping to have something we could at least play online together :

  • Elvick

Since I have to wait until Monday for The Last of Us and my FFXIV beta code doesn’t work, I picked up Graces ƒ again. Well, I was playing Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, but the timed stuff was getting annoying. So I switched to something else on my backlog.

Either the game has gotten easier later on, or I must have been grinding or something before I quit the last time. I remember dying a ton in boss battles, now I don’t. *shrug* Haven’t even really had to use items either. Maybe it’s because I’m using defense more? At least, I feel that I’m focused on it and dodging. And I don’t really remember playing that way before. It’s been so long though.

Maybe I was just playing badly before too. Who knows. Either way the dungeon I’m at is a bish. D: Battles are fine, but the place is massive and the puzzles many… and the save points are too far apart for my tastes.

Still enjoy this game though~ battle system is as boss as I remember. Some dialog is weird, and some of it is repetitive/redundant… but I still enjoy the story, and overall like the voice acting.

    • DrForbidden

      You’ve finished MGR Revengeance?

      • Elvick

Haven’t even went back to it. Usually when I hit a wall, either a puzzle, player skill (or lack thereof) or a lack of just knowing what to do, I tend to just move to something else.

        I’m bad like that. xP

After I beat Graces ƒ (seems like I’m near the end), and The Last of Us, I’ll probably try again on easy.

        • DrForbidden

          I see. Good luck!

    • Kobracon

Why didn’t the beta code work? D:

      • Elvick

        Still not sure. ):

  • Locksus

Hey everyone! I haven’t been on much this weekend, but I bought a red 3DS XL yesterday :) Loving it so far! So, I’m here to ask for your friend codes so feel free to add me if you feel like it! Mine is 2809-8219-4683

Hey guys, I need your input on something personal. So, I’ve got this roommate that I always seem to bicker with, regardless of what we talk about. He always seems to turn it back on me, making me feel like I’m the bad guy or something.

Let me just give some recent examples here:

    A. We randomly lost our internet connection a couple of weeks ago and we soon determined that, for whatever reason, the printer hooked up to his computer was causing it. I’m not sure why, but ever since he switched it from wireless to hardwired, it doesn’t disrupt the connection any more.

Well, here’s the kicker… Even BEFORE he figured out it was his printer, he asked me if I had run a virus scan since I could be the cause of it. Okay, first off… The chances of a virus completely shutting down your modem, rather than your computer, are about as slim as getting killed by a meteorite. Anybody that wants to put a virus out there and crash your system will do just that. They won’t waste time on your modem/router. If they crash your main PC though, it won’t matter if you have an internet connection or not though, you’re screwed.

So, I get a little defensive for him implying that this is MY fault for some reason, even though… We’ve lost our connection at random points before due to our shitty ISP (AT&T). Why is it that he suddenly thinks it’s my fault? I’ll tell you why. I built a new PC recently that set me back about $750 and now he’s getting all pissy because the PC he suggested I buy last year for $250 turned out to be garbage for what I was wanting it to do (it was better than my old one, sure, but it couldn’t handle video encoding for shit).

Anyway, he asks me again if I run a virus scan and I finally told him, “Yes, for the last time, just like I told you earlier… I run a scan weekly, okay?” and he was like, “Alright, so I guess I’ll just throw this $400 printer out in the backyard then since you having internet is more important.” I mean, come on… Who the hell says that?

We both pay the bill, so he can have access to it as much as I can. I always just get so frustrated when he throws stuff like this in my face. It certainly isn’t the first time either. Next situation, more recent.

    B. Yesterday, we lost our connection again in the morning and when he got home from work, he took the phones offline so we could hook up our internet (we’re on DSL and for whatever reason, not having our phones on is keeping us up right now, but we’ll have a technician out here within 24 hours to fix this). Well, I step into the living room, under the impression that our connection was still down, then he tells me, “Well, we can’t use our phone, but as long as we have internet, you’re happy.” I’m thinking to myself, “Wtf?” when he says this, because once again… He’s making me out to be the bad guy here, as if HE never uses the internet for anything.

So, we go back and forth for a little bit and eventually, I just ask him, “What? Would you rather us NOT have internet? Does it make you happy when it doesn’t work?”, then he says, “It doesn’t matter what I want. All that matters is what you want. As long as the internet is up and running, you’re happy. I’ll just stop being concerned about everything else, drop whatever else I’m doing and fix the internet so you can go on with your life since all you care about is getting what you want. You don’t care about anybody else but yourself and as long as you get what you want, you’re fine with the way things are.”

    C. After this sudden remark of his, he suddenly goes into this speech, “You never say “thank you” for anything. You didn’t thank me when I called AT&T and you didn’t thank me when I fixed the modem. You’re just an ungrateful person.” Okay, for starters… I called AT&T before he got home to figure out what the hell was going on and I TOLD him this after he got home, but did HE thank ME? No. Secondly, I have NEVER seen this man take out the trash, but I always do, yet has he ever thanked me for that? Nope.

So, I came back with a retort saying, “Do you REALLY need to hear “thank you” all the time to give yourself validation as a helpful person? Do you always tell your girlfriend that you love her? No, but she knows you care anyway, doesn’t she?”, then he said, “That’s not the same thing at all. I’m trying to help you become a better person, but you obviously want to continue to go through life being ungrateful, so I’m done. You can do whatever the hell you want. I’m just asking you for a simple “thank you” at random times, but you can’t even give me that, so forget it.”

I have NEVER been one to express my feelings towards this matter very well. I’m not good with the whole, “thank you”, “please”, etc. behavior. It certainly doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful, it’s just how I am. Now if I came to him needing a lift to the store and said something like, “Hey, you doing anything right now? No? Good. Get the fuck up and take me shopping.”, then yeah… I could understand his point, but I don’t behave this way at all. I always take into consideration if he has any plans, needs to go to work later that day, or whatever, before asking for a favor.

I’m just SOOOOO sick of him turning all of our arguments into a war of “right” and “wrong”. He always has a condescending attitude towards me, trying to put me on a guilt trip or something, every time I bring something up. Remember that new PC I told you about? A friend of mine helped me build it.

Well, he got all upset when I didn’t come to HIM to ask for advice, saying, “Oh. That’s right. What do I know? I was just an engineer for over 20 years, but I’m the idiot. I don’t know anything about computers. Your friend is obviously the genius.” What the hell is that? I tell him shortly after that the only reason I asked my friend for help was because he was familiar with all of the parts since he was the one that helped me pick them out and if I needed his opinion, I would have come to him to ask for it. This is pretty much where the bickering became even more intense.

Apparently, I’m in the wrong for simply wanting to come to him on my own terms to ask for advice. Yes, in his words, “You just burned that bridge. From now on, I won’t interfere then, since my opinion obviously means to little to you. I’ll just keep my mouth shut from now on. Is that what you want? Fine, you just got it.” What’s up with that? Why the HELL is he getting offended for me only wanting his advice when I come to ask for it?

I don’t understand, but according to him, I’m apparently a terrible person for doing things this way. Yes, real human beings are supposed to accept advice at all times, even when they are offered to them without being asked. Well, last night… I asked him directly, “Look, I’ve been putting this off for a while now, but since we’re getting everything out in the open here, I’m just going to ask…. Do you want me out of here?” and he said, “Point blank. No.” so I’m like, “No. I want you to take a moment to think about it before you answer.”, so he said again, “Like I told you… Point blank. No.” Finally, I said, “I want you to really think about it. Don’t just answer.” and he said, “Do I have to write it out for you? Listen to me. I said “no”.”

What am I supposed to do though? I obviously can’t continue to live under the same roof with a man that I constantly butt heads with even when I mention the slightest annoyance with something I saw online or talked about with a friend online. According to him, you should NEVER complain about something unless you have the power to change it. He said he’s never complained about something unless he could do something about it, which, honestly… I’m going to have to call bullshit on that. Everyone always complains about SOMETHING they can’t control at some point or another (a red stop light catching you while you’re in a hurry, for example).

A made a comment in passing about the US government, complaining about something minor, and what does he say? “If you have a problem with it, run for congress and change it. Until then, just shut up. Complaining doesn’t solve anything.” Oh yes, let me just drop whatever the hell I’m doing in my life and go run for congress instead because I should never complain about anything in my life unless I go apply for the job that is related to my complaint and fix it. Tell ya what. Next time he has a problem with his toilet and even so much as says, “stupid toilet” I’m going to tell him to shut the hell up or become a plumber and fix it, because OBVIOUSLY, nobody should complain about anything they don’t have the power to fix.

I apologize for the huge block of text, but I appreciate it for those of you that actually took the time to read all of this and I look forward to your responses to my issue here. How can I avoid conflict with this person or at the very least, make it so I don’t feel like I’m the bad guy, child, etc. during our conversations?

    • bloodiOS

What the hell is up with that? Seriously, did he expect every human being to be crafted out of the same damn blueprint that he drew? I personally think that words are no longer working because this, right here, is a prime example of person who won’t listen to you unless you crawl on the floor like some animal and vocally expressing that you are inferior to him.

I seriously think you should really start preparing to separate yourself from this person before things become too stressful for either party to handle. He obviously doesn’t like you from what I read, and yet he wanted you to stay around anyway. It’s almost as if the guy wanted someone there for him to vent his anger upon whenever he pleases. Really, avoiding conflict isn’t looking very feasible based on your situation, as you and that guy are clearly incompatible.

Man, I’m losing my cool just by reading what you wrote… what an asshole…

    • Sevyne

If i were in your shoes, this entire story would have ended at the “Alright, so I guess I’ll just throw this $400 printer out in the backyard then since you having internet is more important.”. My tolerance for people with that kind of attitude is REALLY low. Dude would have been eating fist that night. That said, I’m probably not exactly a good person to take advice from lol.

      Get a new roommate.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

This sounds like a pretty rough situation, but, I think I kinda understand it.

Someone in my family acts pretty similar. Just going to call them Bob.

For example – Bob is always trying to turn a simple conversation into something more, and the point we disagree about anything… it becomes an argument.

This results in me trying to make Bob chill out, I try and explain that I was just trying to discuss something. Bob! Just because we disagree doesn’t mean we are arguing I might say.

Then, Bob usually gets more upset and says you kept going on about the same stuff, which makes me respond… I was just trying to explain my views, and back them up, I’m not trying to condemn what you think about this or that. It’s not about right or wrong.

It’s obviously not the exact same thing, In my case this is a family member. It’s someone I have to get along with for the better of my family.

I’ve been dealing with Bob for years. I started doing this several years ago –

When Bob gets all upset or pissed for no reason at all, I just let it go. I refuse to let Bob annoy me or get on my nerves. I might even make up an excuse to end the conversation if need be,

Why? I’ve figured out that Bob isn’t going to change. It’s never going to be Bob doing the wrong thing, etc. I just got so tired of the stupid drama filled situations and try my best to avoid them. If Bob brings up something, I just play it cool and pick the quickest path that leads to the conversation ending.

Why? Bob clearly doesn’t want to hear my opinion, Bob doesn’t seem to like for me to start up conversations either. If I do, I let Bob dominate the conversation and I just more or less listen.

This bothered me at first. Not anymore. I just figured out that if Bob didn’t want to listen to my opinions, that’s just fine. Bob is missing out. That’s Bob’s loss. Sure, it might seem like I’m having to change my life for Bob’s sake. Not really. I’m just taking whatever measures necessary to avoid the stupid arguments, the senseless yelling, all the drama. I just got so tired of that crap. I decided I would rather prevent those from happening. I would gladly let Bob think whatever.

I found out that removing all that drama from my life was for the better. It made me happier, it even seemed to make Bob happier. Bob can think whatever bob wants about me, Bob was going to do that anyways. The difference now is, Bob doesn’t really know me. That’s fine with me. It was a fair exchange in my opinion.

Lucky for me, These days, I can go home and get away from Bob. It wasn’t always that way. For a few years, i had to live in the same house as Bob. Nowadays, I still visit or see Bob at least once a week. It’s no big deal though. I figured out how to solve my Bob problems.

I’m not sure if any of this will help you with your roommate. I certainly hope you might be able to read this, and use it in someway. I’m not saying you need to do exactly what I did with Bob, every situation is different. You might be able to take some of this and apply it to your situation, in your own way, which might make things with your roommate better?

I’ll say this much. Don’t let your roommate change who you are, or what you believe, etc.

      You do have some options.

You can do like I did. You can just start doing whatever you need to in order to end all the arguments and stuff. I picked that option because it made my life better. I was able to avoid all the drama, which was great for me. It also allowed me to stay calm and let things go. I let the bullshit become a problem only for Bob you could say. Bob had/has problems with other people too. Usually the same type of problems Bob had with me. That wasn’t my concern anymore, that was up to Bob to change. It felt good to remove myself from that crap. I didn’t care if Bob felt like Bob had won or something. I knew that wasn’t true, because it wasn’t some kind of stupid contest to begin with. I was just removing myself from all of it.

Another option you have is to just leave. That might not be so simple, I understand that.

You could also try and sit down and really work things out with your roommate. You just might be able to fix things, but that’s quite the gamble in my opinion. I tried to do this with Bob so many times. That’s how I figured out… Bob was not going to change. Bob will always be Bob. Once I finally learnt that lesson, my choice was pretty simple.

I hope some of this comment helps. Feel free to reply if you would like more advice from me. I’m always happy to try and help. I’m never going to tell you – This is what you should/shouldn’t do! etc.

I’ve never typed the name Bob out so many times. lol

(No offense to anyone named Bob. This was just a name I used as an example.)

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

If I could upvote this an infinite amount of times I would. Your situation is EXACTLY how I feel towards my own. I’ve tried to sit down and talk with him about it, generally straightforward. “What’s your problem?” He ALWAYS comes back with the same response though. “I don’t have a problem. You do and you need to get over it.”

It’s obvious this man is beyond reason. He’s like a barbarian. I’d be able to have a more civilized conversation with an orange for crying out loud. I’ve tried to point out time after time again that sometimes I just need to vent, but he doesn’t understand that and he always tries to make me feel bad for it, as if somehow this is MY fault.

Normally, the conversation should go something like, “What did they do?” or something similar as to why I’m feeling frustrated towards someone, but no no no… With him, it’s a fucking lecture. “Maybe you need to stop being so close minded and seeing things from just your perspective. Everyone has opinions. Yours isn’t the only one that matters. You need to stop seeing everything from one side and take in every possible angle, and realize that just MAYBE someone out there thinks differently than you do.” Like last night, we also had an argument about gaming.

I merely brought up the fact that I don’t like the newer generation that complain about “bad graphics” from PS3/360/PC games when they only started gaming during this gen or PS2 days, whereas I’ve been gaming since the 80’s. So, like I told him, “It just frustrates me because I’m like, “Really? You think THESE graphics are bad? You should try playing some of the games I grew up with.””, then he turns it around on me and says something like, “So, what you’re saying is, everyone has to relive your life in order to understand, otherwise they’re wrong. Their opinion doesn’t mean anything. Yours is the only one that matters.” That’s not even… Argh! He missed the point entirely!

So, I said, “Nooooo… I’m just saying they’re ignorant in their knowledge of this particular field if they don’t understand the ‘evolution of gaming’ if they believe these graphics are bad, when their only exposure to graphics is post 2000.” So, he’s like, “I wrote a thesis in college about a binary code which would create a program to convert energy. It took me four months to write that code, but I got an A on it. Now, would you agree that everything is run on binary code? All of the programs you use, the websites you visit, the conversations you have with the people you meet online?” and I say, “Well yeah.”, then he says, “You don’t understand how all of that works, so I guess that makes YOU ignorant then doesn’t it?”

“That’s not the same thing at all. We’re talking about similar interests here. Coding and using programs are completely different. Now, if I had taken up coding like you did in college and I didn’t understand everything about it, then yeah… I’d be ignorant in that respect. It’s apples and oranges.”

“No, it’s apples and apples. Here you have someone that wrote a binary code in college and a newer generation is ignorant as to how it works and here you have someone else who started playing games before these other people that claim they are ignorant at how they work. How is that different? They aren’t. You’re just trying to force your opinion down their throat and make them relive your life.”

Oh, right… SPEAKING of forcing opinions down someone’s throat *cough cough*. Anyway, I’ll try to take your advice though, Zero. It’s quite difficult for me because I’m stubborn in my ways when I try to attempt to reason with people. It’s hard for me to simply let something like that go when I hear them going on and on like a bigot.

I guess I should have known things were going downhill the one time we spoke of religion (yes, I’m in a bible-thumper state) and he refused to believe in my pragmatic beliefs, simply telling me that it didn’t matter if I believed in Hell or the afterlife, I’d be going to Hell for not believing in our “Lord” and “Savior”. When I told him, “Well, that’s what you think and that’s fine.” he said, “No, that’s what God thinks. It’s not up to me to decide. You’re going to have to live with your decisions. That’s not going to be on my conscious. I’m not the one going to Hell.”

I am BEYOND reasoning with this man…

        • DrForbidden

Well, I’ll just give my 2 cents here. Based solely on your descriptions, I’d say your housemate has some problems. Reading your descriptions, it struck me that the arguments you two have are kind of similar to the petty arguments some married couples have (no, I’m not implying you are gay or anything; non-lovers can also have these kind of arguments, but I think it’s actually more common among married or live-in couples). Part of the problem is that it’s only the two of you, so when something goes wrong, there is the tendency to blame the only other occupant of the house.

Now, when I say that your housemate has issues, please also bear in mind that this doesn’t imply YOU don’t have issues. I’m not accusing you of anything, but sometimes we also need to look at our own behaviour and attitude from time-to-time.Perhaps he felt offended by a genuine wrong you unwittingly did him. It certainly sounds to me like he’s holding a grudge of some sort, like an obsessive girlfriend that just won’t let go of that one time you went bowling with buddies instead of going shopping with her. Attitude-wise, do you have any mannerisms other than the ones you mentioned which annoy him? I’m not saying that you have to change to accomodate him while he doesn’t have to do anything, but I do think it helps to try to understand the other person and to try to be as accepting and non-confrontational as you can. My wife has habits and tics that annoy me as well, but somethings are really hard for her to change and I have to be as accepting and accomodating as I can. Similarly, she has to do the same for me.

I think what you can do now, is to get him to a proper sit down, and clear the air once and for all. Attitude and humility is important here, as you need to appear as remorseful as you can without being weak. Get him to reveal whether you did something to piss him off in the past, and bury that issue by apologising. Also point out politely that you do stuff around the house that he doesn’t, but if verbal expressions of gratitude matter that much to him, you will try to say ‘Thank you’ more in future provided he does the same. And so on. Ask him to join you in forgiving and forgetting, reset and start over your relationship to make things better for both of you. Of course, if he agrees, you need to keep up your end of the bargain by making the effort to be more cooperative, while simultaneously making sure to hold him up to his end of the bargain. Living with another person, whether sharing your lives or simply sharing rent, has a lot to do with ironing out knots and reducing friction. It is not beneficial to either party to constantly be paranoid, defensive, suspicious or angry.

If he simply refuses to talk or insists that he is absolutely perfect with no faults, or if he accepts your apologies and then doesn’t put in any effort to not be a scumbag, then I’d say you need to take some drastic measures. It might just be that your housemate is a small-minded, petty, & destructive arsehole who needs to eat shit every once in a while, or his dislike of you may stem from your non-Christian background (which would make him a bigot that cannot be reasoned with). In both of these cases, there is literally nothing you can do but to kick him out of your life ASAP.

If you rented the place first, you might be able to tell him to move out (but if he were really a petty douchebag, he will refuse to leave and this will start a war). If he has broken some rules, you may be able to get the landlord to kick him out.

Alternatively, start looking for another place to rent, far from the shithead. It may seem troublesome to move and all, and may wind up costing you more money, but trust me, it is ALWAYS a worthwhile investment to get away from such soul-destroying parasites. No amount of money saved is worth the grief of living with such toxic individuals who will destroy your will to live.

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

For the record – I try to not discuss politics or religion with most people. lol

Those conversations always seem to go bad quickly. It’s silly but mostly true.

Thanks for reading my comment. I really do hope it helps.

I fully understand how it can be very tough to kinda not be you around your roommate. Sorta like I did with Bob. I tried to tell myself – I wasn’t not being me. I was just sorta turning off a switch inside of me. When Bob said something I thought was absurd, or did something to piss me off. I would try to kinda turn that switch off and let it go. It wasn’t something I did overnight or anything.

I would go type up my feelings and stuff on my PC for the first few months. I felt like I had to discuss it with someone. I would discuss it with close friends online for example. After some time passed, I would just type up journal entries of sorts about the daily Bob crap. I would even read those to myself sometimes. Especially if I couldn’t find anyone else to listen. I didn’t try talking to someone close because I didn’t want Bob to learn about any of this. Bob didn’t deserve to know, this was for me, it wasn’t for Bob.

Eventually, I kept working at this. I finally got to the goal I was working towards. I just didn’t care about it. Whatever Bob did was not an important factor in my life more or less. I kept working at kinda flipping off that switch, not caring about Bob’s crap, not letting it bother me. It got to the point where what Bob did no longer really registered in my mind.

I eventually deleted all of my journal entries on my PC. I decided to back them up on a flash drive. This was kinda like my final step. I didn’t need to read or write these journal entries anymore.

I’m pretty sure that flash drive is buried in the bottom of a box someplace. It has been for quite some time now. I don’t need it, I’m not interested in reading and remembering Bob stuff.

I’ve moved on. I think this process also helped me with my patience, it helped me relax more. It made me happier, partly because I found new ways to be happy. Without the stupid drama eating away at me, things changed for me.

For example – Just sitting down and playing a game was different. It was way more enjoyable. I remember playing something and having more fun with that game, than I had with other games for the past year or so.

I had been playing fun games, but I had all this drama and stress eating away at me.

In the end. I never want to go back. This experience in my life, the path I decided to take to help fix it. I think it changed me for the better.

It even helped with my OCD stuff. You see, I have some obsessive compulsive tendencies. They used to be much worse, I used to have problems with so many things. Now, I find ways to not let that stuff bother me, to let things go. That’s the toughest thing to do in my opinion. Some people can do it so easily, I envy them. Nowadays, it’s much easier for me to let most things go. It’s not perfect or anything, but it’s much better for me.

And like I said above. All of this made me happier, it made my life more enjoyable. It made things better.

He’s projecting himself in you. he has mental issues.

had you heard the phrase “Thief judges by it’s condition”?

Whatever you choose to do, don’t fight fire with fire. As the saying goes “An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind”. Giving a guy like your roommate a taste of his own medicine won’t solve anything. It might feel good for a while but he won’t change in the slightest.

You know…I kinda wish Ubisoft would release a demo of Rayman Legends on PS Vita to help tide me over until September. Oh well…not that it matters really…

Waiting is just harder than it seems. My birthday is tomorrow and I should get something to keep me busy for a while.

I have a question about the Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn beta testing… Its been out for awhile, I was wondering if it was too late to jump in? I’ve never done a beta test before, but I’m interested in giving it a shot. So what is it like to test a game like that? Is it too late give it a try?

    • Kobracon

I just signed up a few days ago. Its never too late, you could always give it a shot. You might get lucky. (I haven’t gotten anything yet u_u)

Beta for an online game doesn’t really feel like a test till you run into some probs. I’ve played a few beta (most recently was the Marvel Heroes beta) and basically just play the game as intended. If you spot a bug report and hopefully make the game better. In a beta, the game tends to change constantly, as things are being fixed and things are added, but since FFXIV is so close to release (next month I believe) the changes shouldn’t be too major.

So go for it, you never know till ya try ^_^ and good luck

I see. Thank you, guys, for the information! I’m gonna give it shot.

The beta invites will go out in waves, so no, it is not too late to join. In fact, there’s a banner on their beta testing forum which loads from time to time, telling you to sign up for the beta, which… Ironically enough, being a beta tester is the only way you can even VIEW the forums, heh. Anyway, test 1 of phase 3 finished last weekend, so test 2 will begin this weekend.

If last week’s invites are any indication, the JP sign ups will get them on Wednesday while the NA and EU sign ups will go out Thursday.

I forgot to say yesterday that it was the last day for White Knight Chronicles online. It was a nice run till it lasted despite of receiving a incomplete story.
