      FF XIII-3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FF XV

      I can do that too.

      • King-Prodigy-X

        FF XV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FF XIII-3

Nah this just makes more sense.

          FF XIII-3
          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> most games

          FF XV
          most games

          That makes the most sense.

Noctis Returns: FFXV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lightning Returns After Plastic Surgery: FFXIII

            • TetsuyaHikari

Lightning IS plastic. You can’t give plastic surgery to somebody that’s already plastic! That would be like working on Mr. Potato Head.

          • KnifeAndFork

            In Bizarro world

        • Raian Targino

I’m gettin both, and looking anyways lol
Both of them look like great games.
I mean, the only way they can screw up FFXV is if they focus so much on the action and cinematic that they only put in something like 12 ~ 14 hours of actual gameplay, that would be just tragic.

      • Budgiecat
        • TetsuyaHikari

          *continues to rustle your jimmies*

Lightning Returns will be so amazing, I’ll buy two copies and only buy one copy of XV to piss on. Bwahahaha :3

          • DriftSlave

Honestly all Budgiecat does is complain about the XIII series so why even dignify those post with answers?

            • TetsuyaHikari

All he does it complain to me, lol. Even if I don’t dignify his responses with an answer, he’ll just keep replying anyway. He’s like a leech.

              • KnifeAndFork

You’re posting negative things about FF XV so you’re not exactly innocent yourself. It’s not like the XIII series is flawless either.

                • TetsuyaHikari

Actually, the only “negative” things I have posted have been constructive. He simply says, “Oh, this sucks.” and doesn’t explain why, so no… I’m not as guilty as he is.

There’s nothing wrong with posting “negative” feedback as long as it’s constructive. At least I’m not one of these FFXIII fanboys that is simply like, “FFXIII IS THE BEST FF EVER!!” and never explain why. If I was like that, THEN I’d agree with your statement.

        • Pekola

Dude, it is not our fault yo’ master hasn’t cleaned your litter box.

Go scratch a post or something, kitty.

          • KnifeAndFork

That’s not nice. Let’s be civil here

  • Tyler James Sherwood

Both this game and FFXV are looking great. I was a bit worried about LRFF13 after 13 and 13-2, but it looks like SE has fix some of the big problems with the last 2 games

    • Budgiecat

Now there’s no monster assists and no party members and you’re stuck with a doom clock. Talk about evolution….

      • Tyler James Sherwood

well i did say “some” of the problems. I rather the game have a party.

      • TetsuyaHikari

A “doom clock” that can finally be adjusted, unlike in the original XIII where if you took too long in a battle, you automatically lose. At least in this game we can GAIN time. I honestly doubt the time is even THAT big of a deal after you’ve defeated a good amount of enemies and finished a lot of quests.

You’ll probably end up having more time left than you know what to do with.

        • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, there is great disparity between people’s whining about games having an oppressive timer, and games that actually have an oppressive timer.

  • new_tradition

*listens closely* I think that’s a new battle theme there (also victory theme!). Hard to tell with all the background noise. Us regular folk probably won’t get to play the demo until November or December, so I won’t be able to verify until then (or until the OST is out, lol).

(Sorry, I just really love video game music. It’s an important aspect of games for me xD)

Ugh, those loading times in the demo are really bad. I hope this isn’t going to be in the final version D:

The gameplay looks pretty good. I was confused for a while what the deal would be when Lightning took on a hoard of enemies in a single encounter, but it appears whatever is in her attack range gets damaged, even if it’s not the specific target. On the reverse, other enemies appear to still be free to attack Lightning. So basically, it’s the same targeting system as the first two games, lol. Though the preemptive strikes taking off some HP before battle should help and compensate for fighting with only one character (though the same could happen to Lightning it seems, so meh).

One little thing I noticed: Hope on ad-hoc is nice and all, but it seems once he’s cut off speaking (like you trigger a little scene or something), he doesn’t continue what he was originally talking about. And you can’t just stand around to let him finish talking ’cause the Doom timer is ticking away, so I hope he doesn’t say anything too important to the narrative (NieR had that problem-a whole lot of dialog in-battle, but finish it too fast, and you miss a wealth of info, lol)

I’m, uh, not really feeling the victory pose used here in the Sorceress Schemata. I read that they might change it or something, though…

I’m kind of bummed this is going to be the last current gen Final
Fantasy game (after FFX/X-2 HD; no FFXII HD then? D:), but I guess it’s fitting that it’s also the finale game in this sub series of the franchise.

  • CosmicNova

WTF is up with the armor change and the finishing model poses at the end of the battle?

  • Derpazu

Love the combat, love the Sorceress win pose! :D

  • Fantasytales

I’m loving the combat the game looks good over all the only think is the clock thing I’m not to fond off.

  • Noctis Caelum

    I want that demo!! xD

  • Alkaid

XIII and XIII-2 always made me question those who viciously complained about that RE6 gameplay.
“You can do too much!” “It’s too easy!” “It’s not RE!” “OMG QTE’s!”
Funnily enough most of the people here in the west were satisfied with XIII/XIII-2’s changes. And even thought of those titles as “the best of all FF games”. While I sat there and complained about every bit of gameplay (especially the lack of Gil after battles and real towns in the first game) and the story (the pacing was attrocious in both games).

Now this is digging it’s way up and …I have to say it certainly looks better than the previous two games (at least gameplay wise). Though it still seems far behind Valkyrie Profile’s/Star Ocean’s capabilities of gameplay (noticed the nearly identical button configuration?).
It’s still weird that they now make “Light” speed-cosplay in battle. (Yeah it’s a power given to her by the Fal’Cie Bhuniwhatsoever but hell? I’d refuse to be a sorceress, if some weird god (whom we never got to know in XIII or XIII-2) would tuck me in such a light-hearted dress just for giggles. Then again she was basically a white chocobo clad in armor in XIII-2…) And the different victory poses in those costumes make no sense, but hey… it’s SE’s character so…ya. o__O”

While XV(Versus) seems more like a confusing real-world/adult KH-approach to me, this game seems to be Square Enix’s own try at a “Star Ocean” or “Tales of” like game. Basically with the time restriction of BoF-V’s Dragon Counter.

    • KnifeAndFork

Satisfied with the changes? Lack of returning main characters, being forced to play as Serah & Noel only, Lightning on the cover yet you only play as her for 15 minutes, forced Pokemon/SMT monster collecting system, Lack of multiple villains (just trolling Caius….will he even be in the sequel?), plot that makes no sense, schizophrenic soundtrack, downgraded graphics, useless QTE, annoying Chocolina, forced DLC instead of unlocking items & outfits and quests like a normal RPG, useless dialogue choice system with no effect, horrible ending, etc

The only thing they added that made sense was:
Can change between the 2 main characters in battle
No more hallways (now mini hubs)
      Less cumbersome datalog

      • Alkaid

As I said *most* of the people. You can see that in every forum, store review site and ofcourse on facebook and co. as well. I’m glad that you voice your oppinion though.
It’s a real mystery to me why people like it that much, but taste differs.

One addition to your near-perfect list though:

You forgot to mention that Lightning (according to the novel) wanted to save Fang and Vanille (since they’re family now). And yet nothing of this was even once mentioned in the game.
SE chose to cast every single thing they mentioned in XIII for XIII-2’s story, “village people villain” and gameplay.

Forecast: XIII-3 will never make sense of any sense and will most likely add more to the facts you mentioned above.

      • disqus_rIjnBIKvqC

you know,I agree with you 100%,play as serah and noel was kinda weird, going from 8 persons I think to 2 people…downgraded??check…
ye,it was kinda boring to play as lightning tho.
I also hate the pokemon stuff, catching all and you can merge enemys, lvling pets, just really stupid and boring.
im fine with 1 villain tho,he was not bad.
the soundtrack is mostly crap, except the a dying world theme which I find really good.
and god do I hate QTE,Im a hack n slash fanatic, and when I play games with qte I almost go into a nerdrage, because its not needed.and why does FF have to have qte,no game before has had except 13-2.
graphics arent that bad,not good either so.
I really dont mind chocolina that much, but it feels so forced in 13-2.okay so you have multiple paths, but it only gives the illusion of freedom to explore, and the town people feels forced because 13 didnt have it.
I loved 13 so much I bought the best 13-2 edition and the game sucks,I even bought all the DLC,and its alot of dlc, which is also dam annoying, why can you just unlock while playing, like doing quests,or finishing places,or do that, everything has to be dlc and that pisses me off in 13-2.
and the ending sucks, actually 13-2 sucks in general, its the worst ff game ive played, its even worse then 10-2,10-2isnt that bad.
and I heard you have to pay for the true ending on 13-2,which gives me a reason to hate SE that much more.
I actually had to force myself to finish 13-2 because of how boring it is.
problem is I have to get 13-3 because I want to know the ending to the saga so I can put the 13-2 and 13-3 behind me.
13-2 is just so dumbed down in every way,and a friend of mine got 13 and 13-2 and he loves 13-2 more then 13,and I really dont get that.the game is crap.

and I will never call lightning returns, its always gonna be 13-3,and 13-3 is even more dumbed then 13-2 and that says alot.
final fantasy series has gone to shitt after ffx and I hope SE goes bankrupt.

  • Gilgamesh2025

Just tell me Lightning, don’t you sometimes feel lonely fighting the most time alone?

  • Aldridge517

The sorceress win pose doesn’t suit Lightning’s personality, imo. Throughout all three games her personality has come off as cold, distant, and mysterious. The sorceress win pose is cutesy, I’d expect something like that from Serah or Vanille, but never Lightning.

  • artemisthemp

Lightning Sorceress armor is so nice .)
