Meet Harler, the mad scientist.

Compile Heart has released a new set of Fairy Fencer F screenshots, showing a battle scene, some dialogue, and new character Harler, a fencer and mad scientist absorbed in her research.

The PlayStation 3 RPG is due out on September 19 in Japan.

I’m seriously tired of that washed-out look. Use a more vibrant color palette and less of that bloom and blur combination please.

It should’ve just stay true to what it is then, a technically mediocre current-gen title.

I know this is somewhat looking down on them, but its Compile Heart. What did you expect?

          • bloodiOS

I expect them to learn more from their past mistakes, instead of just simply improving gameplay mechanics…

            • DesmaX

Well, all I care is that they fix the framerate. Better graphics come later

(And maybe stop rehashing dungeons… that much)

              • Budgiecat

                So like …..pretty much everything

                • DesmaX

Well, one step at a time
                  (I don’t think they’re doing but…)

So, please tell me I’m wrong, but you want them to focus on prettier graphics instead of improving gameplay? Isn’t that the same thing everyone rags on Square Enix for with their Final Fantasy series? Again if I’m wrong please be inclined to correct me, but hats how its sounding by the wording of your post.

              • bloodiOS

Yes, my friend, you are very wrong. I want them to improve both the graphics AND the gameplay. I want them to put in more efforts. That’s why I said “instead of just SIMPLY improving gameplay mechanics.”

                • Anime10121

Ok, well I stand corrected. But even still, you’ve gotta understand that this is a studio who’s biggest franchise is lucky to sell 100,000 lifetime sales. Not really a lot of monetary room to make vast graphical leaps. I’d rather have a game that plays better (and each successive entry HAS been better, gameplay wise and technically) than one that looks better.

                  • bloodiOS

I know, that’s why I only want them to do one thing at this point: dial back the bloom.

Yes, I agree. I was really hoping we’d see something a little different from this studio since it’s their first PS3 title, but all I see are elements carrying over from previous games. Sure, there may be gameplay improvements, but please learn from your graphical mistakes already and make improvements there also!

EDIT: I suppose calling them “mistakes” was incorrect. I just mean the graphics should be evolving much like the gameplay has. It’s disappointing to see a part of the game still living in the past, that’s all.

      • bloodiOS

Well, I personally feel that their excessive use of bloom is a huge mistake on their part. It totally killed the art style. The in-game models look as though they have color bleeding for Heaven’s sake.

      • Budgiecat

        Told ya so

        • bloodiOS

Come on, man, stop poking at that particular subject.

      Guilty Gear Xrd

    • LordKaiser

I agree with you. Bloom is unneeded in anime style.

  • Eclipse

Wow, I really love Harler’s design, and she’s also a mad scientist?!

It seems I’ve already found my favorite character in this.

Screenshots are always nice, but I want to see lengthy trailers. Anyway, the game still looks nice.

Ahem… that ‘scientist’ is so absorbed in her research… she forgot to wear a shirt.

  • Anime10121

Looks good so far, but I was hoping there’d be less talking portraits, but I never really bad a big problem with them so oh well.

Guilty Gear Xrd proves the “3D that looks like 2D” technology can be better if ya put the wrench time into it

As long as it doesn’t look awfully ugly, I’m fine with any looks… Just hope it plays well too…

  • DichaTesoro

The characters eyes look kind of dead.

    • DyLaN

Nah I’ve seen even deader eyes. Case in point: the old design for Misaka Sisters.

  • LordKaiser

    So soft and bouncy!

  • PrinceHeir

i just got back from “God Dimension Idol Neptune PP ‘Vert’”

and theres another set of boobs O____O
