Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze announced for Wii U

The next game in the Donkey Kong Country series is coming to Wii U with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, coming to North America in November and to Europe later this year.

In Tropical Freeze, Donkey Kong Island has been overrun by a Viking from the North Seas. In order to take back his home, Donkey Kong needs to set off on an adventure to find other islands.

One of the biggest changes in the game is the use of different camera angles. In addition to side-view, depending on the stage, the camera will turn and show dynamic scenes that “enable new gameplay experiences.”

The game will offer two-player simultaneous multiplayer. In addition to Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong returns as a playable character. Donkey Kong also has a new move that allows him to “pluck” items from the ground.

Do we know if this is being developed by Retro? I’ll be dissappointed if this is their big secret project. :l

This is what Retro have been working on.

What a shame that this is Retro’s project. It looks great, it really does, and man, I’m so happy to see Dixie Kong returning! But come on, Retro should have been put to use on something else entirely. What a let down.

They should have put this on 3DS, instead of a port of Returns. :/

    Oh well.

    Also bummed it’s Retro’s game.

Another 2D DK game. Are they ever going to make a 3D DK?

What alot of people don’t understand is that DKC Returns sold 5 million copies for Nintendo compared to Metroid or Star Fox. They’re simply going with what worked before to boost Wii U sales.
