I wish this was for the Vita. Don’t have a PS3 and I’m not bothering cause of the PS4.

Those animations…the game oddly reminds me of an animated Super Mario RPG. Being able to dodge and the focus on timing strikes. The only thing that sucks is the lack of hit-stun animations on the enemies. It doesn’t feel like everything was co-ordinated/animated as smoothly as it could be. Then likewise the 3D backgrounds really take away from said animations at times. It’s starting to seem like a game of lost potential but the voicing seemed fun at least, if not typical Bang Zoom.

They certainly did not try to draw fluid 2D animation such as Vanillaware, Street Fighter III, Skullgirls or KoF XII/XIII. Possibly lacked the budget enough to pay the Animation studio properly to do that…

Entirely possible Budgie, though I think a lot of it has to do with the technical implementation rather than the fault of the animation studio directly. Honestly, I think this game just needed to be 100% 2D. Full 2D backdrops, many different camera angles for combat, etc etc.

  • LordKaiser

It arrived to late to be meaningful.

  • Learii

the battle system look hard since there no party

  • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Looks awesome sure it couldnt had been better but since this was imageepooch im accustomed to their gameplay designs having played Fate/Extra and Criminal Girls.

  • Sae-Won Yoon

The one key thing that drew me into this was Kana Hanazawa, say what you will about how overrated she is, but she’s a damn good voice actor.

God I hope there’s audio options to switch to japanese.

The animation frames aren’t that much more impressive than Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22 which was a launch title for Playstation 1 back in 1995, using hand drawn cel animation against a 3D background. Only difference is now this is HD resolution and it’s an RPG and not a fighting game.
I believe GaoGaiGar: Blockaded Numbers for PS1, which was a mini game filled adventure game, also had 2D hand drawn character running around in a 3D world…

Still, Heroes Phantasia for PSP, which also uses 2D characters over a 3D background, had you using 4 characters at a time turn based style and their super move cut ins use motion portrait technology.

Add to that the generic moe heavily trope filled story and it’s a shame they didnt take this more seriously because the initial concept was sound….just maybe the direction and lack of proper budget wasn’t….
