Better make dang sure you understand, Drake.

NIS America has released the first English screenshots and final U.S. box art for Time and Eternity, due out this summer in North America and Europe.

The Imageepoch-developed PlayStation 3 RPG stars Toki and her other personality Towa, who must travel back in time to track down the murderer of their husband-to-be. There’s a whole mess of details here.

lulz, you can say, “I don’t”? xD

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Towa reveals herself and kick the S**** out of him and you get Game Over. I would never reject Toki though.

  • Solomon_Kano

That’s some damn pretty cover art.

    • DesmaX

NISA does know how to make a good boxart

      • Solomon_Kano

Pick is more like it. VOFAN did a lot of nice pieces, but they picked the perfect one for the cover.

        • DesmaX

Of course. But that’s for every one of their games, they always find the best art available to put in the box

  • DesmaX

I normally dislike when publishers release screenshots at a image lower than what the game runs, but, seriously, upscaling the images to 1080p was really necessary? It looks bad like that.

And just look at that face.

Since it’s NISA, I’ll be buying this. They deserve my support

This will be a day-one buy. Thank God for NIS America in localising this game in English.

  • Haku_Luvs_You

Sadly that box is the best part of the game

    • Sevyne

Yep, I think a lot of people are in for a major disappointment. I’m still hoping they move forward with this style though. The game is visually fantastic, but it’s an absolute bore, animations are stiff as hell, and there’s no variety at all. It’s a shame really, but ya gotta start somewhere when trying something new, right?

      • Haku_Luvs_You

        Exactly!

      • Elvick

I won’t be, I have reasonable expectations with games. Buying it to support this type of game being improved upon in the future, and because it looks interesting in itself.

        • Sevyne

You are assuming that my expectations are unreasonable, which they aren’t. In fact, I’m very forgiving when a developer tries something different, but it doesn’t always work out too well. There is a ton wrong with the game.

I’m really not trying to hate on it and I’m not saying to not support it, but be prepared and set your expectations REALLY low. It’s an extremely rough first attempt at a game of this style.

Like I said; I do hope they move forward with it and improve upon it. The game has a lot going for it, but ultimately isn’t the winner people think it is. They can and probably will do much better next time.

          • Elvick

            I never said that.

I just said that *insert previous comment here*

You are the one making assumptions. I didn’t say anything about you not liking it. At all. Because I don’t care if you don’t, good for you, you’ve got an opinion.

Everything in my comment is about me. Which is why there is never a time I use the word “you” in it. Everything I wanted to say is exactly as it’s stated. Anything more, is you reading into it something that isn’t there.

            Shoo.

            • HeatPhoenix

              “shoo”

You implied that his expectations weren’t reasonable because you pointed out in a reply to him that yours were in fact reasonable.

              Shoo.

            • Sevyne

To quote HeatPhoenix, “You implied that his expectations weren’t reasonable because you pointed out in a reply to him that yours were in fact reasonable.”

Shooing me away from my own comment that YOU responded to? If you aren’t speaking to me then do not reply to me. Pretty simple stuff. Also, if you didn’t care about my opinion then you would have skipped my comment completely.

Anyway, I really don’t know what you are so upset for when most of my response actually was in agreement with you. It wasn’t really an argumentative reply, but a simple response to converse over the topic. THIS is an argumentative reply. Sorry if I hurt your feelings though, but we are not going to argue over this any further. Nobody really wants to hear it, so I’m ending it right here.

Moderator – Can we please just drop this? Thanks.

There likely won’t be a sequel when Japan had rejected it and considered it the worst game of 2012.

          • http://twitter.com/GNPixie Lynx

            -worst game of 2012.

            Source?

From what I understand, it was NOMINATED for worst game of 2012 but wasn’t. That was Pacific Storm – Battleship Yamato. Which really is a terrible game.

One of my friends played it and basically said that it should’ve never made it out out of development because of how bad it was.

            • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

Really? What do I have to gain from lying. It was the worst game of the year according to a Japan and found out on kotaku.

EDIT: Alright, I was wrong. It was nominated. I just looked it up. It was runner-up. I remembered wrong.

            • Budgiecat

It was on the Kusoge (shit game) list along with Battleship and Dishonored and that Heavy Arms Afghanistan rail shooter…

          • Elvick

I didn’t mean a direct sequel. Just another attempt at the concept.

      • RedWolfe

I appreciate you chiming in as I’ve actually heard these sentiments expressed pretty much universally among reviewers and various people. In turn has, it has sadly, turned me off from this game regardless of it’s beautiful art style.

Of course, I can’t and won’t make my personal judgement until I’ve played it myself but my time is limited these days it’s hard for me to take a gamble on something like this when I have other proven titles in my backlog that I could be playing instead.

      • MosquitoLemon

That’s par for the course for ImageEpoch though, and they do pretty well despite it. I don’t see them improving on their gameplay any time soon.

Their problem is that they make a really beautiful shell of a game, and then try and fill in the rest like mad-libs. “OK, we need a leveling up system, because people like that crap. So get this, on level 1, your character will be level 1. On level 2, your character will be level 2, and so on…”

It’s so scripted that you never feel like you have freedom. It’s almost as if their designers learned game design from a textbook. I’d love to think that they’re going to get better, but they’re already pretty well established.

        • Haku_Luvs_You

This was my first ImageEpoch game (awful first impressions lol) That said I am interested in Sol Trigger that they did. The demo was pretty good. But yeah I’ve heard little good about them so I’m worried about jumping in..

          • Pyrofrost

If it means anything, a friend of mine (who also played Tokitowa), imported Sol Trigger as well.

He said that Sol Trigger is exponentially better than Tokitowa.

            • Haku_Luvs_You

I wouldn’t doubt it. I played the demo and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of it.

      • Budgiecat

It’ll be tough to move forward with this style. It’s like an uphill run with tires strapped to you while everyone else is in cars.
No matter how powerful the consoles become, it still boils down to paying a team of artists to painstakingly hand draw each animation frame one by one over just using a tried and true game engine and manufacturing easier to make 3D character models. Or the ease of using 2D motion portrait, which is a newer technique of ‘cheating’ animation

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

hopes they port this to vita……

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

You guys have some seriously unrealistic wises. Not to mention random.

    Pretty good,pretty,pretty good.
Holiday 2013 gone be awesome, this,Tales of Xillia,Final Fantasy Lightnings Return and many orther great games(like The last of Us and Beyond:Two souls).
End for the end of 2013 we have the Play Station 4.

  • artemisthemp

    That is one nice box

  • penemue

ImageEpoch said they were working on an HD Action RPG for PS3 last year following this one, so I’m pretty excited to see what that is going to turn out like since Sol Trigger was a damn good game.
This game however, as many people have said, it has some nice ideas, but set your expectations VERY low for this title if you pick it up.

  • HeatPhoenix

    “Drakeypoo”

    Excuse me?

  • bldudas

From what I’ve read, I don’t expect this game to be great, but I still want to play it.

  • Van Sora

I’ll be picking up this game because of the amazing art style and the interesting story, those are the most imporant things for a game to be interesting IMO.

    • rurifan

Don’t. I spent $90 importing it, so I had a lot of reason to try to like it, and still have to admit it’s one of the worst games I have ever played. The concept was appealing and vofan’s cover/promo art is awesome, but the game execution fails in every way (and don’t expect to see vofan art in it).

It’s a shame this game is being inflicted on the world outside Japan. There’s so many good games, and they pick one that can only harm the image of JRPGs abroad.

    • Haku_Luvs_You

From playing it personally, I’m going to have to question your taste in video game stories…

    • Budgiecat

So did Last Rebellion. Look how that turned out. Be wary….

  • Budgiecat

Really wish they had put more effort into the animation

    • DyLaN

Ppl still complain abt it long after the game its out?

EDIT lol downvoted for being civil

  • PrinceHeir

    the box art looks lovely!!!!!!!

  • Pyrofrost

If you can get over the list of glaring flaws…after all, this is the first type of game of its kind. You can actually enjoy it.

If you are someone who nitpicks the fuck out of each and every aspect, then you won enjoy it.

    It’s really that simple.

However, this game does play and feel like a first attempt. It also plays and feels like a budget title. The story isn’t anything mind blowing (it’s not bad, but it’s not awesome…fun is more appropriate). The game is packed full of humor. The battle system was fun for the most part (once I got used to it). depending on the mob I would rage (which is normal for any game), but for the most part was fun. Moving around on screen takes some getting used to as well. The soundtrack is EXCELLENT, they completely nailed it. It has some nice bits of fanservice.

I’m gonna let everyone one know now that Western reviewers are going to rip this game to pieces…this is no joke. Personally, I have played games that were far better than Time and Eternity; however, I have also played games that are far worse than Time and Eternity as well….like Ephemeral Fantasia and Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter.

I’m not going to say run out and buy it, but I will say that I personally had fun with the game. With that said, the game isn’t much better than “ok.” It’s not shit in my opinion, but it sure as hell isn’t anything great either.

    • solbalmung

BoF Dragon Quarter bieng on the same level as Ephemeral Fantasia don’t make much sense really. True it’s the black sheep of the BoF series but it was considered a masterpiece and very innovative RPG taking another route than the let’s save the world/kingdom in a world lush of green and forests.
I for one as a BoF fan who played all of them simply adored it.
As for Toki Towa, I’m sure gonna enjoy it even if it had glaring flaws, it’s the first game of it’s kind as you mentionned so Im not gonna except somthing exceptional.

      • Pyrofrost

Putting BoF Dragon Quarter on the same level as Ephemeral Fantasia makes complete sense if you hate them both equally. That’s the thing about opinions though, they aren’t like facts and they differ from person to person. None of that matters though, my post was about Tokitowa, not those two games.
I’m one of the very few people here that has played this game from beginning to end. So, I chose to give my honest opinion about the game so people can make a more educated purchase.
After all, I’m one of the very few people not calling this game shit. In Japan this game was even nominated for Worst Game of the Year 2012. So I believe I have more than cut this game a break.
