Soul Sacrifice your calendar to speed up time everyone!

  • AdamBoy64

Great. It’s at Midday on Tuesday for me.
Might take an hour or two off to watch it.

    Exciting stuff.

  • Prodigy-X

This better be a 2 hour press conference and not that 1 Hour & a half like last year.

    • 武神水樹

I don’t think any of their past conferences have been 2 hours

      • Prodigy-X

        Their 2009 press conference was.

        • 武神水樹

          Oh ok

      • Anime10121

The console release year ones are generally always 2 hours.

    • KRSMK2

At kotaku says 3 hours . If if that’s correct , wow , I’ll buy a ton of popcorn for that day :D

Edit: Oops , it says 2 hours , sorry for the mistake :(

  • bloodiOS

Does this mean that there won’t be any more PlayStation event prior to E3? Aw… Well, at least I’m hoping that we’ll get to hear some snippet about The Last Guardian at least (as it’s highly unlikely that we’ll get to hear anything about Versus XIII prior to TGS, since Square Enix will probably be focusing on advertising Lightning Returns and A Realm Reborn…) And I wonder when the hell will we ever be getting any (regardless good or bad) mentioning of Agent from Rockstar…

    • Sal Romano

I wouldn’t be so sure about Versus. S-E already said they’re showing a new Final Fantasy for PS4 at E3. Which everyone’s expecting is Versus reincarnated.

      • Prodigy-X

Because it is Versus reincarnated. LOL!!!

Mod Edit: Regarding your personal edit (pasted here: | now removed), stop acting like a junior high school child.

      • Gaara D.Dragon

Actually they said they are showing a new FF with the new engine. Versus was being developed on the FF XIII engine.

It will be interesting to see if they scrapped all that work and if Sony is indeed helping with the new development.

        • Solomon_Kano

Actually no, Versus had it’s own proprietary engine apart from XIII’s Crystal Tools. Versus also had Luminous lighting being incorporated, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think they may have added more Luminous tech in a move to PS4.

          • Gaara D.Dragon

            Engine Crystal Tools (FF XIII)
            (real-time graphics)

Game-specific engine (that’s specialized for action)
            (gameplay mechanics)

            Luminous Studio
            (real-time lighting)

Show source for your “proprietary engine” claim please.

            • Solomon_Kano

It uses a “game specific engine that’s specialized for action”. That’s from the same article you cited for Luminous. Being that this article is from 2011 and that Crystal Tools article is from 2008, before we’d ever seen the game in action, I’m inclined to go with the more up to date article.

I understand your asking for sources, but I’ll ask that you carefully read your own before you go and call somebody out.

              • sherimae1324

serves him right! haha you had put that guy in his place kano-chan ^_^

btw can i ask, if all of this publishers will announce their new games on monday what will be in the remaining days, it will be only game booths or there will be other announcements in the following days
and can we expect some vita announcements from sony ,right?

anyway long time no see, guys ^_^

                • Solomon_Kano

Usually we get all of the announcements on the first day, I believe. There are some games that just appear on the floor or get announced at publisher-centric booths. I think we may have gotten some games announced after day 1 in the past, at generally it all happens the first day.

                  • sherimae1324

so we can expect some vita love from sony then
and from some publishers too ^_^

                  • Gaara D.Dragon

Asking you for source was a bait:

“game specific engine” does not mean “proprietary graphics engine.”

That does not mean the graphics engine the game is being built on. That graphics engine was Crystal Tools.

                    • Solomon_Kano

According to your 5-year old source? Do you have anything more recent? Any further mention of Crystal Tools in association with Versus? Because 3 years is a long time for things to change, especially when we’d no glimpse of the game to confirm it actually having been in a working state on Crystal Tools or any mention of it once we had seen the game in motion. No, once we’d seen the game Nomura mentioned two particular engines. Why would he neglect to mention Crystal Tools were it in use?

                    • Gaara D.Dragon

It is not exactly a source, it is official Square Enix info, that does not need to be updated.

Nomura is not talking about “two particular engines”.

He mentioned the lighting component and then “game specific engine that’s specialized for action.”
Which DOES NOT mean the graphics engine the game is built on.

If Square was builting Versus on a ground up engine it would be huge news.

What you mistook for a new graphics engine were mere new technics for specific game aspects.

                    • Solomon_Kano

Well, if such is the case, then cool. The purpose of my original response to you was that it wouldn’t be unthinkable that they’d have added more Luminous tech in a move to PS4 to be shown off as their promised game at E3.

                    • bloodiOS

You can keep believing that it’s powered by Crystal Tools but I find it EXTREMELY difficult to believe that a game as AMBITIOUS as Versus XIII is actually powered by that horridly crappy-to-the-max engine. It might have been based on the Crystal Tools at first but more than likely to have long since been modified beyond recognition, after realizing how little that crappy engine can accomplish.

          • Gaara D.Dragon

At least all the people who upvoted this must have something ?

            Upvoters hello ?

I can’t believed everyone mistook some technical improvements regarding specific aspects of the game (lighting, action sequences) for a brand new game engine !

            • LordKaiser

Discuss is broken as it allows Non registered people to up-vote but only registered to down vote. I had tested this by up-Voting on my PS3 without longing in.

Also it seems that Versus use 3 different engines for different things. But as you said they’re still using a modified Crystal Tools. Luminous for lighting effects only. Dunno if they’re using a physics engine.

              • Gaara D.Dragon

Concerning the engine, I honestly don’t wanna sound like the pretentious know-it-all but when it comes to the graphics engine, that is one really (Crystal Tools as far as we’ve been told by Square). Different components might be implemented like one for light and one for “action sequences” but that doesn’t mean the way the graphics are generated and rendered is done on a different code.

Also a physics engine is not graphic related and yes most 3D games have a physics engine.

            • Solomon_Kano

People who upvote things rarely come in with a response themselves since, I assume, that means they agree with the statement in question. I’d much rather if we heard from people who downvote. If you disagree tell us why. Maybe you’ve got some info we don’t have.

    • 武神水樹

Last Guardian won’t show till TGS probably

    • Solomon_Kano

I don’t see Agent coming up any time soon. Apart from GTAV being their focus for the year, they tend not to participate in E3 anyway. Then, they’ll likely follow GTAV with some expansive DLC like IV’s Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony, so that’ll probably keep them shut up for another year or so. So we probably won’t hear about Agent til 2015 at the earliest, if at all.

Now that they’ve continued Red Dead, Max Payne, and Midnight Club this gen, I could see them getting back around to Agent next-gen. It sounded interesting, so I certainly hope it’s still in the works. If not though, Bully 2 would be lovely.

  • Solomon_Kano

Hm. Sony’s up last, eh? Hopefully that doesn’t leave us with them bringing games from EA and Ubisoft’s conferences out during theirs. It’d suck to wait until 9PM just to see some games I’d heard about hours before.

Either way, hype! I really can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for the PS4’s full reveal. I hope they at least sneak in something about the Vita during the conference, though I’m expecting we won’t get anything on that front til Gamescom and TGS.

    • Carlos Luis Ayala

They said EA will be at Microsofts reveal event Activison was at Sony’s they migh follow the same pattern to E3 I don’t wanna see EA they have the worst conferences Sports Guns Sports Guns Sims Sports Guns hopefully they are making Mirrors Edge 2 though

      • Solomon_Kano

It’ll be interesting to see if they keep that up. EA’s given Sony most of their “exclusive” content this gen and they’ve had a presence at Sony’s conference for the last few years. I mean, Activision’s also going to be at MS’ reveal with COD, so I’m thinking nothing’s changed but I guess we’ll see.

I just want to see (hopefully) Underground 3 at EA’s presser. It’ll probably be a bit before we see ME2, with Battlefield 4 this year, but DICE says they still want to do it.

    • Kefkiroth

If anything, it’s the perfect time to sync with Japan’s Vita price drop, since that’s what a lot of people are holding out for. Maybe even fairly price the memory cards too (which prevent a lot of people from buying too, who otherwise would).
Other than that, big game reveals would also be nice (if the PS4 FF title also came to Vita like FFX HD on PS3/Vita… I’d say big system-seller for both consoles).

      • Solomon_Kano

I’m expecting that the Vita won’t have a presence in their conference due to them focusing on the PS4, so they’ll withhold the price drop. Gamescom would be more likely based on when they’ve announced PS3 revisions/price-drops. They also had more Vita news at Gamescom than E3 last year, so I’m thinking we’ll see that again. I’d love to be wrong though.

The new FF being announced for PS4/Vita next to a price drop… that would be insane. The levels of hype would be uncontrollable lol.

        • Kefkiroth

I dunno, due to the relatively successful sales in Japan recently and Soul Sacrifice coming out in the West, I imagine they won’t completely disregard it. Western gamers who bought it for Soul Sacrifice will probably want more.

I also think the PS4 event beforehand covered a good chunk of what to expect, and a rehash of the same information would be pretty bad.

I’d be surprised if Killzone: Mercenary didn’t show up, considering how bad the CoD game was received. I see Sony wanting to make up for it and coming out with possibly the best portable FPS (if it turns out good) ever made.

Regardless, I’d love the Vita getting at least 25% of the conference.

Yeah, the PS4 FF being on Vita too is unlikely, but FFX HD is a good sign despite SE pretty much ignoring it otherwise. I’m still hoping for anything from SE on the Vita, like a new Dissidia.

          • Solomon_Kano

I suppose, but there is precedent for their price drop announcements happening at Gamescom. I’d hope they don’t ignore it altogether, but… remember how much PSP news there was at E3 when the PS3 came out? I’m expecting that again.

I think they can fill the conference without rehashing the reveal. The reveal talked about the controller, the system’s internals, and a few specific (and mostly first-party) games. Well, now they’ll have games to show off from other publishers as well as more from themselves that they couldn’t show off at the time. There’s also sure to be some developer testimonials and more in-depth talk about the system’s OS and what’s changed since PS3.

I expect that we’ll see Killzone Mercenary in the conference, if only because we’re guaranteed to get another look at KZ4. Which would seem to indicate we should see more than just that on Vita, but the PSP’s presence at previous E3’s makes me wary. I do hope I’m wrong though. The Vita needs a good public showing with something to actually show for it.

I’m really hoping we see SE do something original on Vita. Tabata’s next game would be ideal, but the system seems like the perfect spot to throw some of those IP they’re never going to use on console again like Musashi, SaGa, Mana, etc. Let’s hope we get something (though I expect we won’t see it til TGS if we do).

  • Raiyu

Guess I’ll be missing Microsoft’s and most of Ubisofts. :( At least I’ll catch Sony’s.

    • Carlos Luis Ayala

I’m the oposite I’ll miss my favorite

  • Zackasaur

This is one press conference I can’t miss.

  • new_tradition

Hrrmmm…Not sure if I’ll be working Monday evening or not. Well either way, I’ll still watch the replay if I come home late anyways. I’ll be too excited to sleep by then, lol.

  • Learii

is E3 gonna be on tv?

    • Elvick

If you stream it from a device playing on your tv, then sure.

      • Carlos Luis Ayala

I thought Spike only streamed Microsoft and the third parties but u can watch it from ps home

        • Learii

          ps home really?

    • Raiyu

Pretty sure Spike will stream it like every other year

  • Jerry Jcwgpii

So i need this monday as my free day, that will be a day.

      Shit happens lol

    • rockman29

That is why God invented the laptop.

  • DarthBrian
    • rockman29

But is PS4 Bane or Batman :P

      • Tetsu

        2 arguments could be said.

PS4 could be Bane because of how much he owns Batman in that fight.

PS4 could be Batman because he’s the true savior of the new generation and Bane is the corrupted change.

        • rockman29

I think the Batman one fits better (PS4 making a comeback for Sony)…

But it’s cooler to think of PS4 as Bane whooping ass :):):)

  • rainelee
