All new 3D Pac-Man due out this fall.

Namco Bandai has announced Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, an all-new 3D Pac-Man adventure game, for launch across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and 3DS this fall. (The 3DS version is a side-scroller.)

The game follows the storyline and characters from the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures animated series set to being airing on Disney XD later this year. It’s set in Pac-World, whose denizens have lived in peace until the Netherworld ghosts, led by Betrayus, escaped their ghostly domain to take over Pac-World. As Pac-Man, it’s up to you to save it.

Ghostly Adventures promises a “revamped” Pac-Man universe, but with classic elements such as the ghost-chomping mechanics from the original game, now with powered up variations.

“The Pac-Man franchise has touched millions of gamers and non-gamers since its humble beginnings more than 30 years ago,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing and Digital Sales at Namco Bandai Games America. “With its long-standing history, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures emerges as a new and reimagined Pac-Man universe that still retains classic gameplay elements that will appeal to a whole new generation of gamers.”

Of course it’s not on Vita. It’s Namco Bandai, and this is an IP they’d actually release outside of Japan.

Twice in the same day, that’s kinda demoralizing and I don’t even own the platform yet.

      • Elvick

Eh, we’re getting other stuff though. Like Lego games (for better or worse) and that Batman Metroidvania game.

So it’s not like we miss out on every one of them. Just from publishers that hate Vita, like Capcom and Namco Bandai (worldwide)… and Square Enix, but maybe that’ll change when FFX/X-2 release and hopefully sells well.

        • Kurisu Makise

Yeah, it’s sad to think of a publisher hating a platform but Namco Bandai and Capcom don’t make it easy to not think like that. I have some good hopes for Square Enix to turn it around. I feel they missed opportunity on PSP to make more money and if Vita can take off like it’s predecessor, not getting out early will cost them again.

          • Elvick

I agree completely! And, SE should know if they showed even a fraction of the support they did for PSP, then those who loved their efforts would feel save in upgrading to a PS Vita.

I know if that’s the only reason I had a PSP, then that would solidify a PS Vita purchase for me. (even if I didn’t have any other reasons, which I do, which is why I have one now :P)

I guess we’ll see how things turn out, but the early adopters will remember who treated the system poorly.

Pacman confirmed for Smash Brothers! Yes!!

I hope there’s an original pac-man dlc because his new look is weird.

Kotaku “Pac-Man returns in a sexist way”

  • MasterSensei

IF Pac-Man eats a ghost he will get it’s powers? Is he Kirby now?

  • Anon-non

He eats non-blue ghosts, and he absorbs pac dots now instead of eating them? What is this? Also, who remembers Pac-Man World 1 and 2? They were great.
