Junichi Masuda to share new details on Pokemon Smash.

Next week’s Pokemon Smash, Japan’s weekly Pokemon show, will be a massive Pokemon X and Pokemon Y special featuring game director Junichi Masuda. A plethora of details are promised.

Stay tuned. Said Pokemon Smash airs Sunday, May 19. Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic, however, comes out Wednesday, May 15, which may have the new information first.

Thanks, Serebii.

Very excited for this. The last Pokémon game I’ve played is Crystal on the GBC.

    • Locksus

Well, what did I say to get negative votes?

      • KingNigma

You’re not supposed to be excited for this if you haven’t played the series since the second generation so you’re not a real fan you terrible person!

        • Locksus

I see. No fun allowed, eh?

        • http://www.senran-international.boards.net/ TwinTails

Well that’s not very nice, you don’t have to be a die hard follower to be a fan of something, that means the series will less likely go stale for him.

This would very well be my first main-series Pokemon game when I pick it up and I love Nintendo to the core.

          • KingNigma

It was sarcasm but I’m pretty sure there are people that think that way which is a shame.

I have no clue. I up voted everyone who made a comment in here to try and balance things out. lol

        • Locksus

Hey, thanks. It’s not that big of a deal, but I was just wondering why people had downvoted me.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

No problem. I go around and up vote lots of stuff everyday. I just don’t like when people try to apply negativity to comments that are positive, or even worse, down vote everything for no reason at all. =/

      • Elvick

Don’t worry about it. I get negative thumbs for no reason all the time. Even got them for just saying “Happy Birthday”.

    • Haku_Luvs_You

You’re excited for a 3ds game. You should know this site is extremely pro Vita.

      • Locksus

        I’ve noticed that, yeah ;p

        • Haku_Luvs_You

It’s funny, a lot of people who commented on the Nintendo articles here are almost all on SIliconera now. Can’t say I blame them, this place feels more like the Playstation Forums, with Nintendo news generating about as much excitement as a funeral.

          • Locksus

Well, this site started as a Playstation-only site, so I guess it makes sense that PS-related articles get more comments and attention here.
But I dislike the fact that some people are intentionally trying to start a flamewar in some Nintendo/MS articles.

            • Haku_Luvs_You

Hmmm Makes sense. If I had known that I probably wouldn’t have wasted my time coming here. I like Sony and all, but I’m looking for a gaming site. One where all companies can be well represented.

              • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m pretty sure these days Gematsu covers most Nintendo news. http://gematsu.com/tag/nintendo

I can’t say much about low replies for Nintendo news, some Nintendo stuff gets replies, other Nintendo stuff — not so much.

In the end, we just need more folks to post comments. Sure, Siliconera does get more replies. That doesn’t just apply to Nintendo articles, it’s more or less everything. We just aren’t as popular as siliconera it seems, which is okay.

                • Locksus

I think Gematsu covers all the companies pretty well, especially considering that Sal is doing pretty much everything by himself on his freetime (We <3 you, Sal). That said, I wish Gematsu was more popular, because in my opinion this is one of the best gaming sites there is.
Also the community, at its best, is one of the better ones, but at worst, I don't even like reading some articles because I KNOW there are a few shitposting trolls commenting with nothing relevant to say other than "lol no games rehash. Company x is the one saving video games. Company y should just disappear".
I still check this site regularly, as I've had for the past 3 years or so. I just like visiting here.

                  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Thanks for the complement. I try my best to eliminate the obvious troll comments. With that said, we also try to give people a chance. I’m sure you know this, since you have been with us for a long time. =) We don’t ban hardly anyone that posts comments here. I think we have like 8 names on the ban list. A few of those are the same person using different nicks.

It’s a constant battle I suppose. Trying to moderate comments while keeping everyone happy is tough.

                • Haku_Luvs_You

You guys seem pretty popular, 101 comments on a remake of Tales of Symphonia. Also if some Nintendo stuff does get replies it’s mostly people asking why the game isn’t coming out for Vita. Hell Pokemon is about the only thing Nintendo I’ve seen people legitimately excited for on this website. And don’t even get me started on Xbox articles. I haven’t seen that much hatred since I was an IGN member.

                  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

It doesn’t seem like I can do much to convince you otherwise. The troll like negative comments do not define the community here. It’s a shame we have any at all, but that happens with every community.

Sure, criticism can be a good thing, often times it is. With criticism comes some negativity, but it’s important to remember that everyone has an opinion.

The tough part about moderating comments is trying to allow everyone to post without restrictions. We have guidelines, but we don’t use them to rule with an iron first or anything like that. We did have a period where we tried to be very strict without our guidelines, our guidelines were new at the time.

I think we mostly got our point across at the time. I’ve been told siliconera is more strict. They have more staff, which means more moderators, which makes things easier I suppose. Like I said before, they tend to get more comments posted, which is what I meant about being more popular. I have no idea if that is true when it comes to website traffic, but I imagine it still stands.

100 + comments on the Tales stuff is pretty good! We seem to get lots of replies on Tales of stuff, or Final Fantasy stuff. It’s not often we get that many replies besides the open forums.

Anyways, just bear with me, please! I’m always trying to make reading comments and having discussions with the community here at Gematsu better. =)

                    • Haku_Luvs_You

Yeah everyone has an opinion. But it seems everyone on Gematsu has the same thing on the mind. It’s not that people are breaking rules. But Gematsu is too one sided in my view. It’s not you or Sal, it’s the community. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

But on that note, you said you wanted to bring in more commenters, and that will be an absolute uphill war for Gematsu. I see people who used to be on Gematsu all the time on Siliconera. And many people have noticed me too. One person asked me how I could have stayed on Gematsu for so long since I was unpopular and constantly getting downvotes. I also remember on a Open Forum I asked for people to play Monster HUnter 3U with me. I got one response from a guy who commented a couple times about Xbox games. I never got his Nintendo ID, and I never saw him on Gematsu after that day. It’s hard to maintain an image of a gaming website when your community drives away many gamers outside of Sony fans, just saying. But I wish you and Sal the best of luck.

                    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I hope the community doesn’t drive away as many people as you think, I really do.

It’s not just our exclusive community either. Ever since we started using Disqus, we get all sorts of people posting comments. Some of them stick around and continue to post, others don’t, or they only post on occasion.

                      Thanks for the kind words.

                    • Haku_Luvs_You

Sorry if I sound like a damn party pooper. You, Sal, and everyone else that helps keep this site afloat are doing a great job, and it’s clear you love doing what you’re doing so don’t stop doing it! (Say that 10 times fast!)

                    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I really do. We can only try to improve the community over time. It’s something that is constantly “flowing” — it’s sorta like water in that way.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I would like to ask the down voters — What’s wrong with people who like both? I own both, love both of them. I hope people can factor that into “votes.”

its time to show a fuc… gameplay !!! god

  • Tyler James Sherwood

Sweet :D Hoping for the starter evolve forms.

  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Corocoro WILL have the news first no question. PS is a load of garbage and completely not worth watching.

  • PrinceHeir

    okay!

  • Elvick

I’m sure the answer is “no”, but have we seen other Pokemon in 3D yet? I really want to see what Vulpix looks like.
