Still no confirmation for Europe? Here’s hoping we’ll get it eventually :

    • Elvick

At least it’s region free. I know importing sucks, but it’s better to have the option than not.

Hopefully you guys get it though!

Definitely tempted to pick this up. I only own MGS4, and that was because the CE was available for $20.

      • Aldridge517

I only own MGS4 and that’s because it came with my PS3 Lol. I have to buy this.

  • hush404

    1 please.

    • Solomon_Kano

MGS1’s in, as is VR Missions.

      • Gigus

I think hush was asking for “1” copy XD

        • Solomon_Kano

Oh! Well… I’ll just back away now lol.

          • Gigus

lulz you’re fine XD. They haven’t thrown their weapon at you yet XP

        • hush404

          Lol, yep.

  • Raiyu

    And pre-ordered!

  • Niyari

surprisingly good deal. was expecting it to be $59.99

  • PrinceHeir

i just ordered the JPN version at play asia just now.

already have the US version, i might dip in again, since it’s only $49.99, but will see!!

  • Gigus

I still don’t get why he didn’t add portable ops to the previous collection.

    • PrinceHeir

      me either :(

      Portable Ops is CANON

*SPOILERS for Peace Walker, Portable Ops and MGS4.

it reveal at the end of Portable Ops that the Boss’s death was set up by a particular person that would play an important role in Peace Walker(Coldman)

Ocelot managed to got back the other half of the legacy

MGS4 reference with the paintings, as well theme song of the game.

Peace Walker mentioned Big Boss did fight the first Metal Gear(Raxa), but it seems they didn’t want to elaborate more with the conversation Heuy.

      some contradictions to Peace Walker:

the biggest is no Null(WTF im pretty sure he’s by his side by now),

no young Roy Cambell and old Fox unit like Para Medic, Zero, Signit.

Big Boss could have use the funds(talking about millions) that he got from Gene to build his own base instead of getting one from Galvez)

Portable Ops had a rouge Fox group that is led by Gene, and it’s miles better than Machine only boss fights in Peace Walker.

Gene is also the best character since Liquid. the relationship between him and Big Boss pretty much mirrors the one with Liquid Snake and Solid Snake.

i was hoping he was the one that will have a rival with Big Boss(not Zero) plus he was created to be a successor to The Boss.

      he’s other codename is “Viper”

      so Snake vs Viper?!?!

      that would have been amazing!!!

      so wtf happened!!!?!?!

      • Gigus

I understand all the story information you just said but that doesn’t really help answer why he didn’t include it in the collection. Informative but redundant.

I really don’t know what kojima is thinking. I do remember he did explain why, but it isn’t really a legitimate reason for him to not acknowledge Portable ops.

He mentioned that he only wanted to include only the games he worked on, which he calls it the “Legacy” collection. I guess for it to be his legacy. Other forums and websites have been saying that there wasn’t an HD version which doesn’t make sense cause MGS1 is in the collection, and isn’t HD.

        • Anime10121

I can tell you why, Kojima himself said the reason was because he only wanted the games that he himself directed in this collection. He only wanted the “a Hideo Kojima game” titles in this collection, and considering Portable Ops wasn’t his baby, he kicked it to the curb. Its sad though, as Portable ops was an excellent Metal gear Solid title.

        • PrinceHeir

well i only said all that just to confirm Portable Ops canonity.

as @Anime10121:disqus has said, it’s probably because he only wanted games that are made by him or at least had a larger role in terms of vision and production.

  • Aldridge517

$50?! That is RIDICULOUSLY cheap. 8 classic games and 2 interactive comic books for the price of less than 1 new PS3 game. This is awesome

    • Gigus

      Don’t forget the artbook.

  • Gaara D.Dragon

MGR for PC and yet another MGS collection makes Konami a little too desperate for cash….

    • Solomon_Kano

A PC port, done by fan request, is desperation?

I’m not seeing the desperation in the collection either. It makes sense. They’re releasing MGSV. If you didn’t get into the series before, if you passed on the HD collection, this is for you. Every game you need to play before V. $50 for an 8 game collection (+ art book and motion comics).

      • Gaara D.Dragon

        Fan request ?

        • Solomon_Kano

Fans asked for a PC version, Kojima and Platinum said it was possible if the game did well enough. Now we have a PC version.

          • Gaara D.Dragon

PC gamers ask for anything hyped and rarely
justify it with solid sales. Platinum games have nothing to do with the port.

I am sorry but it is a desperate move

-They have sold MGS 4 in 3 different editions, standard, platinum and anniversary.

-They sold the 15 year old MGS on the PSN.

            -They made a collection already.

Everyone who wanted to buy these games have had numerous chances. The only real reason for this is the art book.

            • HeatPhoenix

To be fair, they should’ve reworked MGS1 to at least be HD, seriously.

            • Solomon_Kano

Having chances doesn’t mean people took them, so what is this but another chance? If you feel it’s desperate, then that’s fine, but I’ll have to respectfully disagree.

              • Gaara D.Dragon

Your reasoning is staggeringly void of any logical merit.

When you re-package the same thing a dozen times, it’s the very definition of desperate milking.

            • Elvick

I’ve yet to buy any of the collections.

Yet, I’ll probably end up picking this one up.

Desperate, and providing something of value that people want are different things. Whether you like it personally or not is irrelevant. No one said you have to buy it.

And despite having other collections already, that doesn’t mean people don’t want one like this.

            • Daniel blue

“PC gamers ask for anything hyped and rarely justify it with solid sales.”

The PC crowd isn’t made solely of filthy pirates and free-to-play addicts. If you release a game there, people will buy it. Skyrim on PC is HUGE, the Dark Souls port was quite successful – and most multiplatform games come to PC as well, simply because it’s a very profitable platform.

“They sold the 15 year old MGS on the PSN.”

Would you rather it not be there? It’s a classic, man. It’s on the store for the same reason Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil are as well.

  • rockman29

Are all the games included on the discs themselves?

    • bldudas

I think the first game and VR missions are downloads.

      • rockman29

is the Peace Walker HD edition?

  • Kurisu Makise

I am a bit of a sucker for MGS but I’m debating between this (so I can re-get MGS4) or getting the titles for Vita where I’ll have time to play-through the series properly. I currently own the Essential Collection for PS2 as it is.

  • new_tradition

Whoa, Konami went ahead and packaged up most of the MGS games for n00bs like little ol’ me, lol. And art books are my weakness to boot…

    Ngh…Resistance weakening…

  • Chaos Raiden

    Will definitely getting this.

  • NeoTechni

But i just got the metal gear collection, why have a second one?
