Very slow week in Japan, no major new game releases and low sales

  • Furious Francis

10 3DS titles in the top twenty is amazing.

    • Simmsville

That just proves how strong the 3DS hold is in Japan. It’s certainly not going to go away anytime soon

      • Furious Francis

Nope, not with Nintendo courting all the Japanese developers to make exclusives like Monster Hunter, Shin Megami Tensei IV, and Dragon Quest.

Plus Nintendo’s own games like Pokemon X and Y, Link to the Past 2, and Mario Party.

The 3DS is going to explode this holiday season

  • Simmsville

Business as usual for the 3DS then,
While the only Vita game is at number 12 and shifted only 4.5k copies of the game? Not good news

    • MosquitoLemon

Hopefully PSV will be like PSP and hit its stride later in its run, after the PS4’s release.

Vita is back to hovering around 10k which is not good since it has a permanent lower price now. I really am enjoying the system, so I wish it was doing better.

    • Sevyne

Well to be fair here everything dropped in a big way on the hardware side of things for the week. 3DS just doesn’t look as bad because it was already selling like crazy, but when you compare it to the previous week it’s sales were cut almost in half too. Remember that these sales are the week after Golden Week.

Looks like the PS Family took a hit this week, drops on all of them. Photokano looks like it’ll hit the 50k range at least, promising. One Piece is…still selling, probably only going to hit the 400k range though unless it can crawl to 500k before some sort of “The Best” re-release, wonder where One Piece Vita is?

3DS is doing well but the real test has to come from software titles that aren’t Nintendo or with built in audiences like MH and DQ. Things like SMTIV and other titles would help to give a good indication of software health.

Apocalyptic raniking, oblviously unavoidable because of the golden week holiday + school start thing… June will be more interesting, and perhaps we won’t see Run For Money anymore.

  • MosquitoLemon

OMG make it go away, I don’t have money for a Japanese 3DS much less a regular one!!

Apparently they also patched out the ability for same-sex marriages (which was a glitch, I believe), hahhaah. It’s nice to know Nintendo is actively patching stuff, even if for goofy reasons.

  • PrinceHeir

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Tomb Raider, Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen hang on top!!

    3DS on top!!!

    PS3 and Vita behind :)

    Wii U oh no!!
