Shin Megami Tensei IV debuts at number one.

This week’s Media Create sales chart is in. Shin Megami Tensei IV, launched last Thursday for 3DS, is on top at 188,000 sales, and Kamen Rider: Battride War, just launched for PlayStation 3, follows at 128,000 sales. Capcom’s newly released Resident Evil: Revelations for consoles appears on the chart in all formats—PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U—but moved the most on PlayStation 3 at 102,000 units sold, netting it third place for this week’s highest sales.

I guess we won’t be getting Zillions Of Enemy X in the west…

*looks at list* SMT IV sells almost 200k… not surprised. *sips tea and looks further down the list* *spits out tea* Only 5k? I thought the game (Zillions x Enemy X) sounded interesting

    • almostautumn

Same here. And didn’t it score well with Fami, like a 32?

Just wasn’t the right week to launch the game, I guess, what with those two of the top-3 titles also being PS3 games.

Looking at the list, you’re right. Just have to wait for next week to see how well it fares then.

  • uhawww

Wii U, man, we need to talk.

  • MrKappa

SMT, Kamen Rider and Resident Evil all doing as expected. Can’t wait for SMT though.

  • Locksus

I’m glad the 3DS is doing so well. Can’t wait to get one soon.
I’m also fairly positive that the Wii U’s sales will pick up when it gets a few games later this year.
3DS was pretty much in the same position 2 years ago, but look at it now. Topping the charts every week in Japan.

Whoa, major difference in sales between consoles when it comes to RE:Revelations O_o

  • Adol Christin

I thought SMTIV would sell a lot more. As usual, nothing can touch the 3DS.

  • adhesive

Even Valhalla Knights 3 sells that well in Japan? Just goes to show you how obsessed the Japanese are with Monster Hunter games.

  • Zackasaur

I actually think the most -interesting- thing here is that Terraria did pretty well!

The rest of the list meets expectations.

What the hell is Terraria doing in the top 10? GET OUT OF THERE!

  • Eclipse

Hell yes! SMT IV at #1 where it belongs <3

  • HeatPhoenix

    Terraria! Well done!

WiiU Revelations barely outselling 360 Revelations…not good. Hmm, I was hoping SMTIV would debut just a little higher than this, like 200k range but it’ll have some legs no doubt. PS3 and PSV boosting at equal times now, promising…

Hey everyone. I was originally going to reply to a single comment, but then I saw others said the same thing, so I thought I should go ahead and just post it on a single, new post anyway.

SMT IV did actually pretty well. It’s now one of Atlus best debut-selling games in history, barely beaten by Persona 4 which debuted in Japan back in 2008 selling just a few more copies than SMT IV did (as reported by Siliconera).

So we really should put things into a very specific context/mindset and see what the numbers stand for; This is not a Dragon Quest, a Final Fantasy, a Pokémon or a Mario game. It’s SMT and it’s already breaking records :D

So, hooray and hope it keeps it’s momentum going!

Nice to see you posting again. =)

I was starting to get a bit worried about you. Welcome back. =)

I’ve got my copy of SMT IV pre-ordered and I’m just waiting for the release date now. ^^
