Tomodachi Collection back on top this week.

This week’s Media Create sales figures are in. Tomodachi Collection is back on top after being dethroned by new release Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen last week. The Nintendo-published 3DS game moved another 208,000 units this week. Making up the majority of the top five are more 3DS games like Luigi’s Mansion, Animal Crossing, and Dragon Ball.

  • Elvick

Glad to see Vita still over 20k.

Wish Tomb Raider would sell better there.

    • Adol Christin

Tomb Raider has always been a very niche title in JPN. I know 48K sounds horrible by western standards, but that’s not bad for a western title…… oh wait COD managed to do a lot better….. damn!

  • Adol Christin

Great to see the Vita selling well in Japan…. now only if we could duplicate those numbers in NA and EU.

  • Delta_Gamer

Wow Vita :) is doing great.

  • sherimae1324

    love my vita! ^_^

  • Zaki

The Vita is doing bad numbers considering there is a holiday in japan

    • InsaneChronos

The 2nd place in the chart is bad? O_O

    • Kurisu Makise

I fail to see how it’s doing “bad” with those numbers. It’s not doing as well as 3DS but then considering the software chart this week, I think that’s to be expected.

      • Haku_Luvs_You

But even when 3ds doesn’t have 4 of the top 5 it’s still outselling everything.

        • Kurisu Makise

The difference between 3DS and Vita is that, even if 3DS didn’t have the top whatever this week (it does), 3DS has Compelling software which will sustain its sales for awhile to come. Vita is still in its infancy in that regards and has not developed a stable base or inherited a stable from previous efforts in order for it to sell at certain levels. When Vita does gain such, then we can clearly label performance accordingly.

      • Dede Ogbe

Exactly! People seem to be forgetting that the 3DS has 10 games on this list. The Vita has one. It’s given it will out sell. But that doesn’t mean it’s doing badly. I think the only thing that is doing badly on this list is the WiiU considering not long ago a Dragon Quest Game was released there. Nintendo fans just seem to love hating on the Vita for no reason, where as their ‘Next-Gen’ home console is in a dire state.

        • Keegs79

I was shocked that Dragon Quest didn’t move the Wii U. I think it didn’t help that a lot of people were upset that its vastly different than prior games.

          • Dede Ogbe

Same. It barely did anything. I think a major part of the problem is that Nintendo screwed up the marketing for the thing. For example, why not just call it the Wii2? that would have sold it better for casual gamers who think that this is just an ‘add on’ for the Wii.

            • Furious Francis

That’s not it at all. Japanese people aren’t as stupid as us American’s. They know exactly what the Wii U is. The reason Dragon Quest X didn’t move more Wii U’s is this

              1. The Wii version just came out last year and is cheaper. It’s the same game.
              2. Japan does not like paying for MMO’s.

FF11 and FF 14 sold like crap in Japan. Square Enix messed up. Dragon Quest would have sold much better if it wasn’t an MMO. I have multiple friends in Japan that say they rather play Dragon Quest without the monthly fees on the 3DS.

        • Kurisu Makise

Well careful now, let’s not rally the banners but I think there does need to be a sense of realism without the “fan” goggles on. Everyone’s a bit too extreme on either side of the fence and it’s not exactly conducive to discussion. I will throw in my lot and say this much for Vita though. If Vita succeeds, it’ll be entirely on the backs of small franchises and new IP blossoming. As a result of that belief, I think Japan will be able to enter a more refreshing time period for gaming if this pans out well. We can see this identity clearly on the 3DS and it did well this week as a result.

        • Furious Francis

The Vita’s main competition is the 3DS, not the Wii U. Handheld vs Handheld – Console vs Console.

Japan likes handhelds more than consoles, we all know that. The Vita is failing considering how well the PSP did in Japan. Sony is barely supporting the PSVita. So till they support the system more. It will continue to get crushed by the 3DS.

The Wii U has no software releasing for it. None. And yet it’s hanging in there. What do you think will happen when Nintendo releases Pikmin 3, Zelda, Mario Kart, 3D Mario this fall?

Those Wii U sales are going to skyrocket.

    • Altin Bujupaj

So an increase of 150 % compared to previous weeks, and even selling 4x more units than their lowest week is bad? I like your pessimism.

    • Dede Ogbe

Love how everyone’s ignoring the fact that the WiiU is selling like horse sh!t but focus on the Vita, which has been second on the list every week since the price drop. Sometimes even coming first. Yeah it’s really doing badly….

      • Haku_Luvs_You

Yes the one person who says it = everyone. I mean I guess you are right a lot of the comments here do focus on the Vita, but most of them seems pretty positive. So why don’t you calm down a little.

*Seems? Good God, I’m an English Education Major!

        • Dede Ogbe

Haha, oops. Thanks. My point is am not mad. I just find it damn ridiculous that people still say that the Vita is failing, and when its number 2 on the charts.

      • $29082171

I don’t understand what does the Wii-u have to do with the Vita, does pointing out the fact that the latter is selling abysmally somehow wrong due to the fact that the former is also selling terribly?

    • Guest

Alright, take a look at the Vita’s sales, Now take a look at the WiiU’s…. And you think the Vita’s scores are bad??? HA!

  • Haku_Luvs_You

3ds owning that top 5 this week. Aside from Dragons Dogma which I’m currently playing as we speak :)

  • MosquitoLemon

Ughh, if I felt like spending twice the money every time a 3DS game came out, I’d get a Japanese 3DS in a heartbeat, because damn do I want to play the new Tomodachi Collection.

  • PrinceHeir

Steins;Gate: Kenkei Kousoku no Phenogram, Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen and One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 hang on!!!!!!
