Don’t see the CE up for preorder (or the game for that matter) on Canadian retailer’s yet. Bummer. I want that CE.

Still annoyed that I can’t get Tales of Xilla’s CE.

  • Tyler James Sherwood

sweet i might get this later down the line. Now that LRFFXIII is getting close to fall release and with this having a release date, hopefully SE can now focus on the FF game we have been waiting for.

  • Josh

Someone clarify: So to play the game I need an Internet connection, period? I don’t have access to Internet where I live and am wondering if that means I can’t play the game at all??

    • Locksus

Yes, you would need an internet connection in order to play the game.

    • Zero

Yes, you need an internet connection.

MMORPG = Massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

Hope this helps. Edit – Locksus beat me to it. xD

  • bloodiOS

I definitely am going to get the Collector’s Edition. Say, is it possible to complete the game entirely offline?

“Players who own FFXIV version 1.0 will not need to purchase the PC
version of FFXIV: ARR and will be able to download the FFXIV: ARR
    software for free.”

  • bloodiOS

Hmm… not terribly impressed by the PS3 version’s frame rate, but at least it seems to be better than XIII-2.

  • Matthew Frassetti

Is there still a monthly fee?

    • Charlottes Guardian

  • new_tradition

Looks nice, I think I will pre-order the PS3 CE version. Though I still hope we’ll be able to play it before release…

EDIT: So does buying the game give you the first month free? Is that what “early access” means in this article?

EDIT 2: Okay, article got a little revised since I last saw it. So yay for a free month then xD

  • TetsuyaHikari

So yeah… I’ve pretty much realized two things about August this year.

    A. Christmas is coming early
    B. I won’t be getting ANY sleep during this month

Why did it have to be August?! I’m excited, sure, but I feel I’m probably going to be dead before the month is over, lol. So, let’s see… Now I’ll be getting:

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, Mind-0, Killer Is Dead, Super Robot Wars OG: Masou Kishin III Pride of Justice, and now… Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

    • new_tradition

Heh, tell me about it. I already pre-orderd Project X Zone, SMT IV, Tales of Xillia CE, and KH 1.5 ReMIX. I’m still thinking about Killer is Dead and the MGS Collection, and now this is becoming awfully tempting…

(Not to mention I’ll be buying FFX/X-2 HD and LR: FFXIII as well, especially if they get CEs).

This is going to be the year I buy the most games O_o

      • TetsuyaHikari

Oh, if we’re talking about the rest of the year, then yeah, haha. I’m definitely going to get FFX HD along with Lightning Returns at the end of the year. This on top of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma coming out in October, I will have spent over $1,000 by the end of the year since 99% of my PS3 games are imports (which usually end up being $90 – $100+ a pop).

        • new_tradition

Whoa, that’s dedication. Kudos to you. There’s maybe only a few games I’d be willing to import from Japan, but I still haven’t made the jump to getting something in a language I don’t understand xD

Ugh, but yeah, definitely going to be a drain on my munniez. I still need to account for taxes and crud on my end. This $79.99 PS3 CE for FFXIV: ARR will be more like $90+ for me :/

  • kenshee

Now I kind of want to buy the game …
Even though I already own the 1.0 CE O.O

I must say, this was just a trailer done right imo.
Not a single bit of cgi, all just a player character walking around in the game as it is, admiring the view and listening to the ingame music :)

    And it felt complete.

It’s also quite honest to show the ps3 version’s inferiority. They’re not hiding behind super high-spec PC footage, they’re up front and clear about the differences.

All I can really think after seeing this is the following:
Please SE, handle your other games like you do ff XIV ARR. Show us the games, talk to the community, don’t show us a perfume after more than 2 years of waiting…

Players Who Own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition

Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.

      That’s pretty awesome, don’t you think? =)

      • kenshee

Oh yes it is, and I’m also a legacy member, so all the bonuses together are quite something! :) (I’m really looking forward to having a baby behemoth follow me around XD)

That’s exactly why this seems like a good game to own both versions of, if just to support their ongoing efforts ^^

        • Zero

          Yeah, I agree. =)

I think I’ll still buy the PS3 version.

          • kenshee

Oh? Purely out of curiosity, why would you buy the ps3 version if you own the pc version? (and I assume a gaming-worthy pc)

Not to be down on the ps3 version, but as I said before it’s certainly showing its limitations.
And with the pc version you always have the direct X 11 upgrade and (maybe) high res texture packs coming down the line…

I’d personally just choose to own the pc version twice, to vote with my wallet for PC.

Of course, your choice would look better in a collection :)

            • Zero

Mostly for the physical CE merchandise. xD

  • InternatlGamer3

Well I might actually get it.

  • InternatlGamer3

Friggin A man. This is gonna be hard for me I’m getting “Tales of Xillia Collector’s Edition & Dragon’s Crown” on the same day August 6th. Man Square-Enix must finally be pushing with SONY to get “Final Fantasy Versus XIII” I mean FFXV out the door by later in 2014.

  • Zero

I’m still surprised that A Realm Reborn is finally going to come out.

It seems like yesterday that I was playing 1.0 and thinking about how the game might look in the future. I remember when they released the timeline for the new Final Fantasy XIV. It was almost hard for me to believe, they wanted to go all in on fixing the game.

I’ve been supporting the game since launch, I bought the original Collector’s Edition, I’m a legacy member, I might even get my name in the games credits! I hope so. =)

I already knew about current owners of FFXIV not having to buy ARR. That’s really cool.

More details from this page –

Players Who Own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition

Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.

Sweet! That’s me! I’m still considering buying the PS3 CE. xD

Players Who Have Fulfilled the Requirements of the Legacy Campaign

Players who have fulfilled the requirements of the Legacy Campaign will be able to take part in early access and play before the official start of service.

    That’s me again! =)

Dear Square Enix – Thanks for rewarding me for supporting FFXIV since the beginning. I’m looking forward to playing more of ARR soon!

    • Locksus

How do you like the ARR version? I tried the Beta briefly at one point but it did nothing for me (I played for as long as half an hour, lol).

      • Zero

The beta tests so far have been really limited. I’m hoping this next beta test opens up lots of stuff.

I’m trying to hold back my judgement until I really get to play more. I can’t go into much detail because of the NDA.

I’ll say this much – It’s way better when compared to how FFXIV 1.0 launched, oh man…

        • Locksus

I thought it looked interesting, at least.
Though, I was surprised because it looked like every race and class have the same starting area, unlike in WoW, for example.

          • Zero

You can only pick Gridania so far. In the original game you can pick between 3 cities.

It’s sorta up to the player. In the original game, each city had it’s own exclusive missions up to a specific level. Once you got past this level, the missions started to blend and eventually everyone did the same like level 45 story mission.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept this the same more or less.

            The starting cities –

Limsa Lominsa – Kinda like the pirate town, surrounded by water, lots of docks and ships and stuff.

Ul’dah – This is like the big city town more or less. This was where most people chilled at in 1.0.

Gridania – You already know about this. The forest place more or less.

The only other city in 1.0 was Ishgard. It wasn’t actually finished, so they never opened it up for players.

            • Locksus

Ah, so that’s how it is. Interesting.
I’m really quite looking forward to it, because I’ve always had a soft spot for MMOs and I’m going to give this one a go, at least :)

  • Zero

I just watched the video. I recognize lots of those names, but everything looks so much better!

Edit – Awesome Dragon at the end. That’s completely new!

  • EspadaKiller

It’s about time. Can’t wait. PC version FTW!

  • bloodiOS

Just visit the Famitsu page and saw, in the PS3 section, something about having a storage space of 12GB or larger. Are we expected to have 12GB mandatory install?

    • Zero

That sounds about right. The Full version of the game will likely be around that size. I’d imagine they have you install the game on PS3 to improve performance.

      • bloodiOS

Man, that’s bigger than Gran Turismo 5! Geez, I wonder how long is that going to take? The PS3 is rather horrid when it comes to installing data from the disc. Oh well, I can always do it before I sleep.

        • Zero

          Yeah, it kinda sucks. =/

This is sorta common place with MMORPGs I hate to say. I’ve grown accustom to it over the years.

  • Karl Josef

Pay to Play + Monthly Subscription?
    I’m out.

  • artemisthemp

Looking forward to playing the PS3 version
