Capcom can’t say if Deep Down will come to Xbox One

At least, not "at the moment."

One of the most visually attractive pieces of Sony’s PlayStation 4 reveal event was Capcom’s Deep Down.

When it was announced, Xbox One was still under wraps. But now with Xbox One officially revealed, we asked Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono on Twitter whether the game would become multiplatform.

“I cant answer about it at the moment,” he responded.

Perhaps we’ll hear more at E3?

Well, it can’t be a problem with the engine, since Capcom’s engines have always focus on multiplatform development. Perhaps Sony had already made their move to secure this IP exclusively for the PS4? Other than that, I simply can’t imagine why…

  • bleach630

well they never said its exclusive at sony ps4 event.
i think its multiplatform with exclusive content for ps4 or time exclusive.

  • DarthBrian

    It’s Capcom, I’m sure it’ll be multiplatform.

    • Rafael Martines

      Like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom right?

      • DarthBrian

There are exceptions to every rule. Wii exclusives are the exception. Anything they’ve put on the 360, they put on the PS3 and vice versa. I don’t see that changing with PS4/Xbone.

        • Atinverse

          “Xbone” love the nick!

        • http://it.ign.com/ Stefano Castelli

What about the first Dead Rising?

      • Budgiecat

They woulda have to rebuild the whole engine from the ground up in order to port that one they said

  • Peacenutman

Of course it will be, come on, it’s Capcom here. I can’t remember the last exclusive Capcom game this gen, other than Dead Rising.

  • Dark_N11

for some reason i think this what will happen ..

    deep down exclusive for ps4.
dead rising 3 exclusive for xbox one.

    • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

There is not going to be any exclusives. There is no point for Capcom. These systems are easy to port to each other. Its way less hassle which means less time porting. They would make more money with it as a multi-platform title. It could be exclusive to Japan but not the States because Xbox One would likely end up with a small installed base considering the history of the last two consoles and games like Final Fantasy XIII not releasing in Japan on the 360

Dead Rising 3 wouldn’t be exclusive to the Xbox One. Capcom would lose a lot of potential money.

      • usrev

unless the exclusivity agreement ended for dead rising it will not come to a sony platform, but it’s not unreasonable to assume they expire when a new generation begins.

  • Raiyu

Maybe they don’t know if they want to support the XB1 with the anti-used games thing? Capcom is a Japanese company and used games are pretty big over there.

    • sunK1D

We’re talking Capcom here, the EA of Japan… If Deep Down(obliviously: Dragon’s Dogma 2…) won’t be on XB1 it’s due to it being a PS4 exclusive but I’m pretty sure it will be on XB1 though.

      • xMCXx

As far as I know they said Deep Down is a separate franchise.
I can’t believe it either, though.
I mean Deep Down = DD and Dragon’s Dogma = DD.
        Coicidence? Maybe.

      • MasterSensei

Or it could be due to the fact that Xbox does not sell well in Japan at all

  • MogCakes

Europe/JP won’t allow the used games fee will they? At least SOME part of the world has to stand up to this BS, we all know good old America is right screwed in the ass with EA and MS (and maybe Sony).

  • Rafael Martines

Oh Ono and your default answer ¬¬ “I cant answer about it at the moment” he knows but he won’t say anything

  • http://www.facebook.com/aly.hesham.7 Aly Hesham

I don’t think Ono can declare such huge info over twitter especially since little is known about Deep down.

  • GetOffMy_Lawn

Capcom and Projekt RED are most likely playing coy because they’re going to be shown at E3 at the Microsoft event.
Which makes sense, seeing as how many first-party games Sony apparently has in the works for the PS4, and how few Microsoft has (based on what we know so far). Sony will show off first-party games, while Microsoft shows mostly multiplat games, with exclusive or early content. It’s what they’ve done in the past.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aly.hesham.7 Aly Hesham

Pretty much…Especially since witcher 2 was and still is only on xbox. There is just no way witcher 3 isn’t on Xbone.

    • Lethal_Doze

There is no chance CD Projekt would do exclusive content, they have too much respect among gamers to do that

  • $30632660

It’s going to be multiplat just like the Witcher 3.Whether it sells or not on the Xbox Done is a completely different matter lol

  • EspadaKiller

It’s definitely coming. Capcom loves money.

    • http://www.facebook.com/JeremieJerryIsmael Jerry Jcwgpii

They all do dude, they all do.

  • Christopher Celand

And balance is restored to the universe with Sony being the first to get the goodies. :)

  • Bryce Blalex Douglas

This might be more indicative of the reception of the Xbox One.While it is likely these games will be coming to the Xbox One it’s possible that they could be waiting to see the reception of the console after E3.

  • dsar

I hope this stays exclusive to ps4

    • Samuel Roman

Why? Why hope that people who dont own a PS4 cant play a potentially great game? Whats wrong with you? lol

    • Heavenly_King

If what stops it to be console multiplat are the technical aspects of the XB1, then it will at least be on PC.

      • dsar

LOL yes like Dragons Dogma which is the predecessor to this game came out on pc? http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/29649471/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-pc

Sorry but many japanese game developers boycott PC, you will never play many great japanese games, only From Software with dark SOuls, and Capcom with RE 6 and DmC have supported PC recently, no other japanese companies, and for good reason too, PC gamers hate Japanese games.

        • wireless

One, no. That is a terribly broad generalization. Maybe some do, maybe some don’t. Same can be said for console gamers.

MGSV was shown on PC (with a 360 pad), the newest Castlevania game is getting a port (Lords of Shadow? Can’t remember), Squeenix published games (at least from Eidos Montreal) are some of the best ports I’ve played, etc.

From Software also stated (I believe) that Dark Souls 2 will be on PC at release. RE6 just had a cross-promotional deal with Valve, and RE: Revelations also just got a PC release.

And who’s to say they’re boycotting? Many of them just don’t have experience with the platform.

The times, they are a changin’.

  • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

It’s Capcom…. They are bound to make it multiplaform….

    • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

But Deep Down inside we hope it’s exclusive :p

  • Willgaea

If it stays exclusive to PS it might make Xbox make their own awesome game. Hell I just want more games.

  • Heavenly_King

considering how the real time tech demo looked. I think that Sony helped them with tools and technicians to achieve that on the PS4. And considering the PS4 is more powerful than the XB1, maybe the latter cant handle it,

    • bloodiOS

Nonsense. Of course it can handle it (or the inferior version of it, anyway.) If this game is indeed multiplatform, however, I’m hoping that developers won’t be designing it around the lowest denominator, which, in this case, would be the X1.

  • PrinceHeir

    Dragon’s Dogma 2 please!!!!!!!

  • Gilbert Nicks

it is going to be a multi platform. as for the power of the PS4 vs Xbox one. “PlayStation 4 features 18 compute units, where as the Xbox One only has 12” how does that make it 50% more powerful? and other than that the CPU and GPU are almost identical. I have a feeling we are going to see way less 3rd party exclusives and way more multi platform. The sad fact of the matter Sony had a chance to BLOW Microsoft out of the water in performance but they dropped the ball. The requirement of Off screen play/remote play pretty much means that a % of the CPU/GPU/Ram has to be dedicated to streaming to the Vita. Also the Constant Video compression chip is nice but still requires ram and minor CPU usage (they confirmed its ALWAY ON) so that is going to tick a lil more away. So now at least IMO the PS4 is only going to be a MAX 10% more powerful in real use. really this gen no dif than last. ps4 and xbox one are going to offer new features just like ps3 and 360 did wii-u is being out matched in CPU and GPU specs but has its exclusives and new controls. i say wait 2 years after release then you can compare just like 360 vs ps3 videos and say which games look better and play better on ____ console.

    • wireless

PS4 has about twice the shaders of the Xbox one as well, IIRC.

Xbox One is running 3 OSes at once, IIRC as well. The Windows kernel, Xbox gaming kernel, and one other I think. Which will divide the 8 cores/RAM up way more than anything the PS4 will be doing.

But consoles this gen will likely be similar, like the last. PS4 will have an edge, but PC will be outpacing both in all aspects once again.

      • Gilbert Nicks

its very clear you dont understand how a OS works and last i checked 12 isnt half of 18. now the BIG issue is the System memory on the Xbox one. but they did include esram on the board and that if used properly could help increase the over all bandwidth of the memory. the 3 OSes you are talking about Game OS, Dashboard OS, and a OS that combines the first 2 together this will not use as much as it sounds. PCs are not consoles, Yes its getting the point of not telling the difference with all the EXP and extra crap they keep taking on each year and I love the fact they dont release fully working games anymore… day one updates WTF… back to the matter at hand… both systems still have a wild card… the cloud… and yes basted on what sony has done… they plan to use it almost the same way as the xbox one is using it… just xbox one plans to use the cloud to also improve already out games while Sony plays to do 100% cloud gaming… Yes its very cool tech… but its not quite there yet as of yet on performance… i mean its nice and works great for none hard core… talk to people who play onlive or other cloud gaming sites. but what i was trying to get at earlier is that PS4 is going to be a cloud in itself and that feature will never be off due to set features required to be on… so that means the game developers will have to take that into consideration… I cant help but feel the reason sony only told developers it had 3gb of ram was due to how much memory the features could be using… i dont think they are using 5 gb all to OS and background features… but i still cant help but feel that is why they told developers that…

again I really see this Gen being No different than last gen. PS3 had more hardware but 360 still delivered. there were only 2 draw backs to the 360 vs ps3 a for game performance… 1 Multi Disc games and 2 no game video res but VIDEO VIDEO res was auto 720p to keep video from taking up too much space. sorry but that isnt enough to trash it… both games only had a handful of TRUE 1080 and 720p games and i think only 3 ran at 720p 60fps. both the PS3 and 360 are going to do well if they keep the cost low and keep the line ups and dont lose any of their exclusive. Sony has lost a few and Microsoft has as well. Nintendo is going to be seen as the underdog again… but some how out sell both.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One Game OSes are designed to be 100% open to the developers and what looks like VERY easy to port from or two PC or to each other. So all this PS4 is better Xbox one is better… its all crap its all on the Developers and Publishers now… and as what last gen proved… your not going to see very much change between the two systems and their game line up.
