3DS first-party software sales are up 52 percent this year, Nintendo has announced.
The 3DS manufacturer sold over 2.1 million units of first-party software so far this year in the U.S. alone. In 2012, it took 30 weeks for 3DS software to sell two million units of first-party software, compared to 2.1 million in 18 weeks this year.
Notable sales numbers for April include LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, which sold nearly 94,000 combined physical and digital copies following its April 24 launch, and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, which sold over 140,000 units in April and over 530,000 units total.
And over the coming months, the 3DS first-party releases will continue with Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D on May 24, Animal Crossing: New Leaf on June 9, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team on August 11, Mario Golf: World Tour this summer, Pokemon X and Y in October, and this fall, the new top-down Legend of Zelda.
In other sales-related news, Nintendo announced lifetime sales for New Super Mario Bros. U increased to nearly 770,000 combined physical and digital units in April.
