Square Enix trademarks Iru and Luca's Wonderful Mysterious Keys.

Square Enix recently trademarked the name “Iru to Ruca no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi” in Japan, which roughly translates to “Iru and Luca’s Wonderful Mysterious Keys.”

Game Jouhou speculates the trademark could be for a Dragon Quest Monsters 2 remake. Square Enix has already remade the first game, Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland, for 3DS.

In 2001, Square Enix released Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Malta’s Mysterious Keys (or Malta no Fushigi na Kagi) for Gameboy Color in two versions: Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Malta’s Mysterious Keys – Luca’s Journey (released overseas as Cobi’s Journey) and Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Malta’s Mysterious Keys – Iru’s Adventure (released overseas as Tara’s Adventure).

The trademark seems to imply a remake combining both versions.

Stay tuned.

Do fans want this is the question, I have no idea

    • Solomon_Kano

Based on the sales of Terry’s Wonderland, yes. Yes they do.

      • Budgiecat

And why isnt it and DQ VII localized…

        • Solomon_Kano

          Ask SENA.

I’m actually pretty confident that we’ll see VII via Nintendo based on their prior publishing of DQIX in NA and their current work on BD:FF, but I don’t see them helping with the Monsters games.

    well i do :D im a fan

  • Suino_Maverick

I think they do, at least in Japan where the first remake was almost a million seller.

  • Solomon_Kano

    Nice!

  • Stealth

DAMMIT localize the first on 3ds

  • Stealth

    and bring dq 7 too!!!!

I think that SE should create new games instead of releasing remakes and remixes and other bullshit.

But meh, this is SE, a quick cash-grab doesn’t hurt right?

I am ready for the downvotes

    • xMCXx

SE know their old games are better so they rather remake them. xD

      • Tac-Mex

Exactly, considering the fact that they can’t create great games anymore (only mediocre/bad games) the only option they have is to re-realese their good games, can’t blame them though, they had extraordinary losses and they have to make money.

Yeah and when it comes to established franchises, they screw them up by giving us what we don’t want. I linear version of Final Fantasy and they pissed off Dragon Quest fans (notably the Japanese) by making it a MMORPG. The sales itself are really telling.

        • Tac-Mex

I was actually very surprised how terrible Dragon Quest X sold on Wii and Wii U in Japan.

Square-Enix and Capcom has fucked up a lot this gen.

        • Elvick

They should have left DQ in the hands of Level-5. It was doing well then. Then they decided to take it and on top of that make it an MMO… smh.

          • Tac-Mex

Well, Level 5 has been supporting Sony so i am glad about that :)

            • xMCXx

Speaking of which, a new Dark Cloud would be awesome as hell!

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome :D

  • OverlordZetta

How about localizing the first one first eh?
