Rayman Origins sequel also coming to handheld?

Spanish retailer FNAC is listing Rayman Legends for PS Vita.

The Ubisoft Montpellier-developed game is currently confirmed for Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A handheld version has not been announced.

Thanks, The Silent Chief.

Thats a great News Rayman Origins was perfect on my Vita !

  • rockman29

the art looks a real step above origins, just looks great

  • Solomon_Kano

That’d be sweet. Origins was a nice fit for Vita.

    • 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

It looks gorgeous and is still one of the best and most fun games on the system. Those visuals will be killer on PSV. As long as they can keep the game running at native rez I wouldn’t even mind a switch to 30fps.

      • Solomon_Kano

Native rez and we’ll definitely be in for a treat once this hits, but either way it’ll be gorgeous. Man, just thinking about it makes me scared to picture how beautiful Muramasa’s gonna look on that screen.

  • pekot

    yes yes
with online it will be perfect for vita

  • Ivan Junior

OMG, my dream is fastly coming true =O *_*

  • Nate

This would be awesome! They could make all the wiiU features happen with a ps3 vita combo!

    • Learii

ps3 and vita cross play boo ya lol

  • Haku_Luvs_You

I swear I know nothing about this game. When it was announced I already thought it was coming to all consoles and not just Wii u. But when it was delayed I thought it was coming to handheld too….

  • AdachiTohru

Ok, sorry Wii U but im going to buy it on Vita.
    Oled wins

I’m probably going to pick it up on the lead platform (Wii U), since it’s been designed primarily for that platform. Should look nice on that OLED screen mind.

Not sure what you mean by OLED ‘winning’ anything though (especially which platform to purchase it on) – it has its fair share of cons over a quality IPS LCD display (I’m not talking about poor quality TN panels):

OLED blue subpixels degrade over time faster than the red or green subpixels causing image colours to shift over time (more of an issue if there isn’t a PenTile subpixel arrangement with the screen, as with the Samsung Galaxy S II and PS Vita).

Here’s an example of colour degradation:

OLED screens also cause “graininess” to be apparent with darker colours like browns and dark blues (see:

They produce unnaturally oversaturated colours, but that isn’t a big issue with videogames considering most aren’t photorealistic anyway.

And then there’s OLED screens with PenTile, where pixels share neighbouring subpixels, giving them a bricky look.

And lastly, the organic nature of the pixels and how they can deteriorate over time makes them susceptible for screen burn-in:

In short: OLED has its pros, but it certainly doesn’t ‘win’ at everything.

I dunno man; the vita is pretty sexy!

*But that stuff you write there— is concerning. If my Vita’s screen craps out in a year or two I’d be pretty pissed :P

        • $16492437

Indeed, it’s a nice bit of kit but I prefer to play the lead platform version of games as that’s usually always the best since that’s the development team’s target hardware. Miiverse integration should be a big plus (though guess we’ll have to wait for Thursday’s challenge mode to find out), too.

Aye, guess it depends on usage, though. Since we have our smartphone screens on far longer than our phones it shouldn’t too big an issue for Vita, though because it (thankfully) does not incorporate PenTile it does mean the blue subpixels will degrade faster than the rest, so we could see some colour shift in time.

Best stock up on a second Vita at the end of the generation just so we can cherish the handheld in years to come…

        • AdachiTohru

This is bullshit, i have my galaxy S with an oled screen and no problem

      • tubers

LOL I’ve been thru 5 VITAs.. OLED is NOT all that.

Even a lot of tech enthusiasts are fighting over/against current OLED implementation.. from low performance in high ambient lighting to s*** ton of MURA (vertical lines/black splotches)..

Not to mention you’re OLED is guaranteed to be more tinted (green/blue/yellow) than LCDs they use for iP5 and HTC One..

Good for VITA owners who prefer oversaturated colors over cinema industry standards.

        • $16492437

Ah that’s the word, MURA! (was calling it grain) Yes, it drives me insane. Nearly every single background theme for the Vita’s home menu shows signs of it, and on my Windows Phone it’s the same with half the different live tiles.

And as you say a lot of OLED screens are poorly calibrated.

Any great viewing angles they have are also gone thanks to the blue tint they display from the side (which frankly makes me ill).

Luckily not too big an issue for Vita since we all play games looking head-on but I find it an issue when reading off my phone at an angle (like when it’s on a desk).

Oh, and OLED screens haven’t impressed me in terms of outdoor visibility.

        • Keegs79

Troll comment of the week! Been through 5 Vitas? Ha! Yeah right…

      • Karl Josef

what? Samsung S2 and PS Vita are different -_-
        Go home sir mobile con

        • $16492437

They both feature the same screen technology, that is, Super AMOLED Plus, so Super AMOLED with an RGB Subpixel stripe. Most AMOLED screens have a PenTile arrangements with less blue subpixels (hence less prone to degredation – read why Samsung chose PenTile for the Galaxy S III).

I don’t really care if you ‘believe’ me or not, anyway, because at least I know what I’m talking about is valid.

    • AdachiTohru

So am I, the first on Vita had the best single player, even if it wasnt lead Vita, and Oled screen made amazing things on Origins ( unrealistic colors yes, but its the best for these unrealistic worlds )

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

i…… just need more jrpg translation on vita……

  • Learii

lol rayman legends almost in every consoles and handheld expect 1 now 3DS

    • Haku_Luvs_You

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t though. Even Origins had a 3ds release.

    • Elvick

Hope not. Origins was terrible on 3DS.

    • AdachiTohru

Not a bad thing, that was the worst version for origins

  • Zackasaur

I hope so! Rayman Origins is amazing on Vita.

  • $16492437

Nice! I have fond memories of playing Origins on Vita launch day, and I was worried Ubisoft wouldn’t be able to port it to Vita given how Rayman Legends’ visuals are hugely improved over Origins (far, far more layers – as shown in last year’s Wii U demo – more 3D backgrounds, dynamic lighting with 3D lightmaps).

If I didn’t have a Wii U I’d definitely pick it up on Vita, but even then I’d be tempted to pick it up as an excuse to play through it again…hm…

  • Elvick

Hopefully. Have the most fun with Origins on my Vita. Looks lovely. <3 I'd buy it on PS3 and Vita.

  • Prodigy-X

    Yes, please be true.

  • Keegs79

Yes! I loved the Vita version and put more time into it than on the PS3. It is a good fit for the Vita. Its also a nice bonus getting it 20 dollars less. I hope it does come on the VIta.

  • PrinceHeir

this will go along well with my Dragon’s Crown game on Vita :)

  • Always No. 9

My, my……Vita, you hot piece of arse…’ll getting more and more attention (if its true, of course)….#9

  • Sae-Won Yoon

confirm it and i’m getting me a goddamn vita along with origins
