Rumor: Gran Turismo 6 reveal “weeks away”

Recent reports suggest sequel is for PlayStation 3.

A Gran Turismo 6 is just “weeks away,” according to a CVG source.

The unannounced racer sequel was recently listed as a PlayStation 3 game—not PlayStation 4—at online retailer NewEgg before being “discontinued.” Prior, a Sony exec may have let slip that it’s in development for PlayStation 3.

“Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6,” Sony Worldwide Studios vice president Michael Denny told Silicon Repubic back in February. Later released audio of the interview confirmed the mention wasn’t a typo on the publication’s part.

Stay tuned.

Wonder when we’ll see GT on Vita.

If MLB The Show is cross-save and cross-play, I would imagine GT6 is too.

I could see how some wouldn’t like a port, but that’d be pretty awesome to me. Especially if the content is huge like GT5.

but we still don’t know much GB is in the Vita game cards >.<

That’s true… but with PS3 games, a lot of them aren’t compressed in many areas. So, who knows how much space is *necessary*.

Watch this get announce at E3 for PS4 & PS3 regardless of this rumor.

God damn wanted this on Vita!!!

Makes the most sense as a PS3 title.

While I’m sure we will see a Gran Turismo title on the PS4 eventually, I don’t think Sony would announce GT6 on the PS4 so soon as to take away the thunder from DriveClub, the racing game they announced at the event back in February.

    • BlacksitePSU

I don’t think it necessarily has to do with DriveClub. It seems like most developers release 2-3 big-budget titles per console generation, trying to modify as much of their games’ engine as they can.

That said, it’ll be interesting to see how much has been improved from a visual standpoint with Gran Turismo 6.

They can make an announcement whenever they want, but I personally am not seeing this game launching before, say, the Acura NSX. In any case, I just hope that there will be a drastic improvement of the sound quality, a proper(*) reduction of the amount of unnecessary vehicles, and a better focus on the attention to details of other vehicles, not just premium ones.*Polyphony Digital can request a collection of the players’ statistics, then use that data to determine which vehicles are least used by community and remove them from the installments that follow.

  • BlacksitePSU

It would be odd for Polyphony Digital to go a console generation without releasing a follow-up to the last Gran Turismo title on the same platform. Though I’d like to see a Gran Turismo title on the PS Vita too.

This seems like a big mistake on Sony’s part. I can’t believe Yoshida would approve of two driving sims in the same year. This would have made more sense in like March (with a PS4/PS3 [maybe Vita] SKU).

  • AdamBoy64

Interesting how sources are pointing to PS3. Thought it might have benefited from the extra processing and graphical capabilities, and could really be a showcase title for the PS4.

Maybe there won’t be as big a jump from 5 to 6 as there was from 4 to 5.

i’ll wait for the Gran Turismo PS4 game :)
