Retailer lists Call of Duty 2013, Disney Infinity for PS Vita [Update]

Maybe this PS Vita Call of Duty won't be downright terrible?

Chilean retailer Zmart has posted listings for two new PS Vita games.

The first, simply labeled “Call of Duty 2013,” could be a PS Vita version or spin-off of the next entry in Activision’s shooter franchise. Despite being deemed a critical failure by the media, according to Game Rankings and Metacritic, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified must have sold well enough for Activision to commission a sequel. With the proper budget and developer, however, the title could be the shot in the arm PS Vita needs to invigorate sales.

The second listing is for Disney Infinity. While the game itself has already been announced, a PS Vita version has not been.

Thanks, Viva la Vita.

Update: As pointed out by reader Manchego Obfuscator, it seems the credibility of Zmart isn’t very notable. See here and here for examples.

“Maybe this PS Vita Call of Duty won’t be downright terrible?”

We’ll get our answer to that as soon as it is confirmed whether or not nStigate Games/Nihilistic Software will be involving with the project…

I bloody hope they will never touch a Vita SDK again. After two mediocre-terrible FPSes in rather well known franchises they shall unleash their prowess on Android or iOS.

      • Gabriel Lage Pessoa

They are like the new LJN!

      • Elvick

I hope they never touch any console again. They managed to muck up a crossover with Sly, Ratchet and Jak too. Ended up being a mediocre mini-game collection with a horrid name.

    • Skerj

I like how they tried to convince everyone it wasn’t going to be the case when we saw how horrible it looked during Gamescom. I’m not a Call of Duty fan in the least but it deserved more than that, so did the Vita. When they displayed that then Killzone Mercenary I was like “wait what?”

      • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

KZ:M= proper dev and budget. ‘Nuff said.

    • Carlos Luis Ayala

It wasn’t their fault they had few months to scrap together a game that was cancelled by Activision after they gave up on BO2 Vita give them credit for what they did in such little time.

  • Gabriel Lage Pessoa

Vita needs a good COD and a good GTA to blow the sales and so that more 3rd party developers are interested.

    • Cry_Zero

Im still hoping for a GTA for vita. That would be fucking awesome. With the graphics and physics of GTA IV. I would kill for that

    • http://blacksitepsu.deviantart.com/ BlacksitePSU

A new GTA for the PS Vita would be awesome though we probably won’t hear about it from Rockstar until GTA V is released.

    • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

There have been PSP titles released so it’s not impossible. I doubt 2k will show any interest in a Vita entry soon, though. Even then they would probably flog it out to the lowest-bidding developer. I don’t want an outsourced GTA title on Vita. Would cause more harm than goodwill to gamers. *cough* Black Ops Declassified *cough*

      • Carlos Luis Ayala

Yeah remember Bioshock Vita Ken Levine said they just never started on it so his appearance at E3 was pure bull

        • Gabriel Lage Pessoa

Man I want Bioshock for the Vita so bad

          • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

I really hope Sony do something in that regard asap and prepare something for E3. 2K won’t do it unless Sony sign the bills. I want some Vita love at E3, not just PS4.

        • Elvick

And he also said more recently that he still wants to make it.

2K and Sony just need to sign the checks to get the ball rolling and it’ll happen. So, Sony need to grease that wheel as soon as possible.

Infinite is amazing, I can only imagine how amazing they would do on Vita. So, I’d say make a fuss to 2K and Sony about it. And don’t let them forget about it.

You should probably edit it to say Chilean retailer.

Also, if the next Call of Duty is being developed by Nihilistic (now nStigate Games) again then I personally see no reason to get excited. It doesn’t look like they’ve released a good game in… well, ever. >_>

    • Solomon_Kano

Didn’t they become nStigate to focus on mobile games or something?

    • Elvick

I still had fun with Resistance: BS to be honest, but it certainly isn’t a good game and I would have rather waited to get the game made by Bend.

They did amazing with Resistance on PSP, I could only imagine what they would have pulled off on Vita. *sigh* Now the series is dead and it went out with a turd.

  • Ritsujun

    Nihilgustic.

  • Solomon_Kano

Let’s see who’s developing it. COD on Vita should’ve been huge, but Activision fudged that up by handing it to Nihilistic. Thankfully, they’re out of the picture now.

Needs a new dev team, Declassified received too much negative feedback

  • Manchego Obfuscator

These listings have been up for a while, and Zmart isn’t a remotely credible source – along with a few of the other smaller European/South American online retailers, they’re known for adding listings based purely on Internet rumor and speculation, or just whatever they pulled out of their asses that day. Other listings include a Wii U version of Battlefield 4, Super Mario Universe, and Uncharted 4 for PS3.

Other HIGHLY CREDIBLE Zmart listings: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=47494749&postcount=107

GTA V for Wii U, since taken down; Mass Effect 4 for Wii U (it’s since been confirmed that the engine it’s running on doesn’t even support the platform).

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Thanks, Manchego. I’ve updated the post.

    • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Hm, FB2/3 on WiiU? While technologically possible (runs well optimized on PS360) I doubt EA would invest the resources to let DICE integrate the necessary WiiU support. I doubt ME3 WiiU set the tills alight.

  • stealth20k

“the title could be the shot in the arm PS Vita needs to invigorate sales.” no western game can do that

    • Guest

In Japan of course not, but Japan isn’t the only place it needs it’s sales seriously boosted.

      • stealth20k

cod wont boost sales in any region

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 新阿修羅(ShinAsura)

The problem with the west is it’s split between the 3DS, VITA, smartphones and tablets, also PCs. Japan doesn’t have that issue

I don’t think people will buy a good COD for the VITA, people have already said COD is all about controls and the VITA can’t give them the same response a controller can

  • Spectacularity

Please be as addicting as black ops 2 <3

  • Kefkiroth

I’m worried Nihilistic/nStigate has destroyed the chances of CoD ever selling to dudebros. People might put off this one thinking Declassified is all the Vita can do in terms of FPS games.

On the other hand, if this is developed by the proper CoD devs (Treyarch or IW) and it gets advertised enough to get across that it isn’t made by a terrible side-developer, I have some hope.

This is of course, implying this game isn’t just a rumor.

    • Sevyne

lol “dudebros”! That word cracks me up every time someone uses it.

Despite the poor track record of the source, I feel like there is indeed good hope for both titles. COD:BOD did sell well and drived some sales last holiday despite it’s critical reception, so it should be a no brainer for Activision to try and go for a second round. If they do it up even better this time with a proper budget and tighter online integration, they might be able to get a title with good digital legs long after the retail sales fizzle into the second hand market. Meanwhile Disney…I just hope Sony signed a few deals, a handheld in the western market without Disney is…not a good idea…
