Another Metal Gear Solid collection coming to PlayStation 3?

The Korean Game Rating Board has rated something called Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for PlayStation 3.

It’s worth noting Kojima Prouductions boss Hideo Kojima yesterday posted the following picture—which looks very well like it could be artwork for a “Legacy Collection”—on Twitter with the text, “Checking.”

Thanks, NeoGAF.

Interesting. Konami really is giving people plenty of opportunities to get into the series o.o

Looks like MGS 1-4, but I was under the impression the reason why MGS wasn’t included in the HD collection was because it was too difficult to re-create with HD graphics. Maybe that’s no longer an issue? Still, I’m interested.

    • Solomon_Kano

It’s most likely a PSN voucher for MGS1 with the HD collection content and 4. If they remake MGS it’s not getting stuck in some collection, it’ll be full price.

    • Pyrofrost

If they added MGS1 into the HD collection, it would call for a complete remake. They couldn’t just do a quick and easy remaster like the other games.

They used MGS 2’s graphics engine to make Twin Snake, and Nintendo owns that graphic design. So Sony is kinda left out of the loop on this. They could possibly work around that by using MGS4’s engine, but I doubt they would see that as a worthy investment. The best we could hope for is a Twin Snakes HD on the Wii-U.

What if it’s MGS: The Twin Snakes (HD), MGS 2 HD, MGS 3 HD, and MGS 4 =o?

      • Ace0

That would be an awesome deal for people who don’t have the games yet but doesn’t Nintendo own the rights to Twin Snakes?

        • BlacksitePSU

I don’t think so, considering it was published by Konami. Silicon Knights is also independent from Nintendo.

Not sure what Pyrofrost means by Nintendo owning the graphic design. It was just an exclusive at the time.

          • Pyrofrost

It’s the same principle of why you don’t see the updated RE1 up for Sony.
As far as Twin Snakes, Nintendo made an agreement and funded it. So all the changes that were made (ie: graphics, CS, and etc) were funded by and is owned by Nintendo. Even though SK developed it (under Kojima’s supervision) all the CS was done by Konami.

        • LordKaiser

Well there’s a Yoshi Doll in Twin snakes…

      • Daniel13789

The reason why Twin Snakes wasn’t in the HD collection was because it wasn’t made exclusively by Kojima. It might hold true here as well. It would be pretty amazing though!

        • Kurisu Makise

That’s a bit of a…weak excuse on Konami’s part but it does mean something to see “A Hideo Kojima Game” so maybe. Personally, if we won’t get a remake done by him, then I’d like an HD version of Twin Snakes at least. Otherwise this just becomes this generation’s version of the Essential collection, which I own.

  • Michael Garling

Nothing too major here, from what I’ve heard – this is supposedly just like those collections that were released last year, the disc/digital combo packs (there was one for God of War, and one for Ratchet and Clank, I think?)

Anyway, sounds like it’s just MGS HD Collection and MGS4, and a digital download code for MGS1.

    • Sevyne

      It probably is exactly this.

  • Raiu

To be honest… I thought this is a quick way for konami to make quick cash…

  • Zackasaur

I was just looking into buying MGS HD Collection…

    So I want this. :3

  • Nice Boat

    Portable Ops needs love

    • PrinceHeir

      yes please T___T

want to play it with proper controls and 60FPS!!!!!

  • rockman29

Just remake MGS1, that’s more interesting. I have too many versions of all of these games to be excited for this.

  • BlacksitePSU

I think it should be Metal Gear Solid 1-4, Peace Walker and Portable Ops or else it isn’t truly a legacy collection.

    • DrForbidden

I agree, but it doesn’t mean we’ll actually be getting that. Look at the stupidly inconsistent releases for MGS HD collection. Different regions are missing different games. Unless they actually solve all the licensing bullshit and give fans what they actually want, this legacy collection might actually be another watered-down, pointless re-release.

  • surachokes

Please release a complete collection of MGS with MGS 1 and MGS 4 for Xbox 360 instead of another PS3 MGS collection T_T… They’re already getting alot of MGS!!

    • EspadaKiller

Then get a PS3 if you want to play MGS games? MGS is much more popular on PlayStation so it does make sense that Konami would want to release MGS games on the PS3.

      • Daniel13789

I mean, it’s not like the series is tied exclusively to Sony. If anything, it would boost sales if it went multi-plat. I’m a proud ps3 owner, but more money for the series couldn’t hurt.

        • Elvick

          Tell that to Ninja Theory.

          Multiplatform =/= more sales.

          Ditch that myth.

          • Nice Boat

Don’t blame the consoles for DmC bombing

            • Elvick

I was referring to Enslaved. Great game, sold like crap. Literally dropped to $20 within weeks.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

A complete remake of every single numbered MGS game. Even MGS5

  • Sal Romano
  • PrinceHeir

MGS1-4(Substance and Subsistenc version of MGS2/3)

bring back the missing features of substance and subsistence

hopefully Secret Theater is included(collection of parodies; ex The Boss vs Naked Snake Rock Paper Scissors, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eraser) which is in Disc 2 of Subsistence

i do know they removed the Ape vs Snake MGS3(should have kept it on the PS3 version instead) i was also hoping for Dual Audio since this will make this collection a must have for those who want to hear voices in either english and japanese.

i also wondered why they didn’t include the Documentary of MGS2 and the third disc of Subsistence(you can watch all of the cut scenes in one go) that would have made the collection even better!!!

im guessing konami removed some of the modes just so they can even out both the PS3 and 360 versions. im betting if they did include the Documentary and Disc 3 of subsistence and others it would take a third disc for the 360 thus increasing cost production and bump the price to $60 which i don’t mind paying.

    come on Konami redeem yourself!!!!
