5pb. bringing Corpse Party sequel to PS Vita.

The next Corpse Party game is coming to PS Vita. 5pb. and Team GrisGris have announced Corpse Party: Blood Drive for release this year in Japan.

Find an outline below.

Is the tragedy that visited the Shinozaki family an omen of a new tragedy in the birthplace of Yoshie and Sachiko?

After the death of Sachiko, it was thought that Heavenly Host collapsed.

However, due to a stronger ruler, the power of that curse was magnified.

At last, various mysteries taking place in Heavenly Host Elementary School are revealed.

Will you be able to recover your cruelly murdered comrades in Heavenly Host…?!

Thanks, Famitsu.

Blood drive doesn’t exactly sound sinister but I’ll go with it.

  • Elvick

    Bring it on~

  • H.A.MK

Why is it on vita only? Why??!!!

Vita needs exclusives!!! Support the damn cause

    • Kefkiroth

It succeeds the PSP. Why else?
People would stop dismissing the Vita if it builds a nice catalog of exclusives. This is exactly what it needs.

it’s not that I am dismissing vita as I am getting one this summer. It’s the exclusive thing that bothers me. Vita is a good system and all, but somehow I feel that CPBD should have been distributed throughout the consoles from handheld (psp, 3ds and vita) to PC to increase it’s popularity and make it more accessible to other gamers who don’t own the corespondent device. It would have been a good move from 5pb, business-ly speaking.

        • Kefkiroth

Exactly, people will dismiss the Vita if it can just be found on other platforms. Vita needs this, and 5pb won’t kill themselves by helping out the struggling handheld (look at Steins;Gate’s success, they have plenty of money).

I’m not so sure about that. With Vita, Sony have built up a large audience of loyal gamers who heavily invest in the platform and its games – exclusive or not.

We play games, not consoles, so for a title like Corpse Party (unless it really uses Vita’s unique features like 999 did on DS) makes sense to be on as many platforms as possible.

That being said, it’s great to see 5pb support Vita, as you say!

Well, there’s Dead Patient for PC too.

I wonder this also; unless they’ve acquired some crazy new budget, I really can’t see, even with whatever possibly new gameplay engine they use, why this entry can’t be on PSP as well.

We’ll see; I mean, if it’s fully voiced, 2.5D models with some really stellar animations, then alright. But I just can’t see that for this series… It’s not the series is cheap or anything, but the prior two entries have been extremely limited in terms of tech usage (which I, personally, find to be part of its charm even).

      • Kefkiroth

I don’t see why they would have to make it 2.5D or anything that demands too much of a budget. They can just make some nice hi-res sprites/backgrounds, keep the gameplay of the original, and it’d still be great. Voice acting was also pretty big in the first game too, so I don’t see that as a problem.

I agree, but I was talking mostly to Hussain makki’s comment, about it being Vita exclusive. I mean, is there any reason why this is so, beyond perhaps a deal with Sony?
I always sympathize with gamers who won’t move with the gens (it’s crazy expensive), so, for those who love Corpse Party but only have a PSP— I mean, there should be a reason why, beyond financial bargainings, as to why those dedicated fans are being punched out of the equation.

          • Kefkiroth

I don’t see how a deal with Sony changes anything… it was on PSP, a Sony console, and went to Vita, another Sony console. It used to be on Windows, but the remake was for PSP and iOS I believe. It was more popular on PSP, though, so I guess Vita is the natural next step. It doesn’t have to be multiplatform from the get-go; they might port it down the line, even.

And, as for all exclusives, they’re intended to get you to buy the console it’s on to improve said console’s sales. And as it is, Vita needs more exclusives. Whether the game is that essential enough for you to buy the Vita is your decision.

its for sony handhelds from the first place

Huh? The first PSP Corpse Party was a port of the original Microsoft Windows release.

  • bloodiOS

I wonder if they would use a new engine, updated with higher quality sprites… If not, I’ll be hoping that the previous titles is going to be remastered and bundled with this latest entry.

  • 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Yes, finally. The franchise is rather high quality in content and art and I’m pleased to read there’s a proper Vita iteration in the pipeline. I agree with Bloodios and do really hope a new engine will be utilized. Should be a blast regardless of the tech used to power the game.

  • Sevyne

Excellent. Glad to see the move to Vita.

  • PrinceHeir

hopefully they keep the 2D Sprites instead of 3D :P
