Four-player split-screen and eight-player online.

505 Games has revealed the multiplayer features for the upcoming console version of Terraria.

The game will make use of an immediate invite system. Online, players can invite up to seven friends into their game for co-op and competitive gameplay from within their existing game hosts. Locally, split-screen multiplayer for up to four players will also be available. And those four players can play against four other split-screen players online.

Terraria is due out for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade in the coming weeks. Screenshots of the game’s multiplayer can be seen at the gallery.

Wish it were going to be on Vita too. Would be neat to have cross play locally with Vita/PS3 too. Then you could each have your own screen.

I love Terraria. I bought it a while back on PC and play it occasionally. I’ve been waiting for the PS3 version for a while now because I’ll definitely play it more on a console.
