Studio helmed by Shadow Of The Damned's Massimo Guarini.

Indie studio Ovosonico, led by former Grasshopper Manufacture game director Massimo Guarini, has partnered with Sony to develop a new intellectual property, it has been announced.

Director on Shadows Of The Damned and Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Guarini co-founded Ovosonico last year with Gianni Ricciardi, an industry music producer whose name can be found franchises like Tom Clancy and Rayman.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working with such an innovative new studio as Ovosonico,” said SCE Worldwide Studios Europe Senior Vice President Michael Denny.

“It is through working with creative minds such as Massimo Guarini that ensures that the best exclusive games are only available on PlayStation, and we firmly believe that this relationship will result in something special. This is the first studio we have worked with in Italy and due to the growing talent in this country; we believe the first of many.”

Gameindustry.biz noted in its story that, last May, Guarini said that his studio was working on a movie-length “rich emotional experience.”

“Ovosonico aims to challenge convention,” said Guarini. “To push the boundaries further and expand out medium by delivering innovative, emotionally engaging games that deeply resonate with people.

“SCE Worldwide Studios Europe understands out vision and we are thrilled to partner with them. We strongly feel that they are the perfect partner for us.”

    *Rise of a Ninja

This makes me so happy. Had the combat kept improving, I felt like Ubi’s ROAN series would’ve been really awesome. Alas, it ended at the conclusion of part I.

It’s nice to hear that Sony’s partnered up with these fine folks.

Ah, thanks for that. I’m clearly not a Naruto fan, eh? Fixed.

No prob. Even among Naruto fans that game tends to be overlooked for the Storm series, so its a simple mistake.

Shadows of the Damned was one of the most under-appreciated games in recent memory. Glad to see these guys partner up with SCE. Will look forward to what they have to offer in a new IP.

  • Sounds like a new IP for Vita/PS4 to me. Awesome news =)
Sony constantly supporting new IP is refreshing in a sequel-driven industry.
Shadows was great so I have high expectations of that project.

I hope it’s Vita/PS4, details sound refreshing so far.

It looks like PS4 is getting another Exclusive ( Versus XIII ;) )

If it means “PS4 exclusive project” (and I think that’s the case) PS4 promises very well. Suda already said he like the hardware, too. So… PS4 will do DEFINETLY good xD
    (sorry for the language)

  • Sounds like a PS4 title to me…. Let’s see what a former grasshopper manufacture can cook up…

I’m looking forward to seeing what this turns out to be. :3
