Meet Mondo Zappa, an executioner of assassins.

XSEED Games has published the first English trailer for Killer is Dead, its summer-due PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 action game from the mind of No More Heroes and Killer7 creator Goichi Suda and his studio Grasshopper Manufacture.

Additionally, the publisher launched an official Facebook page for the game, where they’re inviting fans to post questions for Suda himself.

The trailer introduces protagonist Mondo Zappa, an “executioner” at the Bryan Execution Firm, whose job is to dispose of dangerous criminals and assassins from around the world. To do this, he’ll utilize his Japanese sword and artificial interchangeable weapon arm.

    Looks/sounds brilliant!

  • Bloodios

Here’s hoping that this means that the gap between the Japanese and Western release will be within days.

By the way, I’ve just noticed that the babe is still moaning in Japanese…

It’s out summer everywhere, so luckily even the lengthiest possible gap isn’t too bad, either. =)

      • Bloodios

Good to hear. Seriously can’t wait to get my hands on this game. I wonder what kind of Collector’s Edition is this game going to have…

Fuck yea, that’s the way to do stellar localization. The voice cast is awesome and I’m shocked how close the English script is to the Japanese original. Xseed seriously know their stuff.

@Bloodios:disqus I agree, here’s hoping for a small gap as the temptation to import rises the longer the gap is. This localization sounds ace, however, so I might be patient enough.

    • Sevyne

I agree. Fantastic voice cast. Really can’t wait for this game now.

XSEED scales their style on localization depending on the project. Sometimes they go super close to the original script (because that’s what fan expectation would be), other times it’s more liberal in order to provide the feel of the content. They’re currently my 2nd favourite localization group, with 8-4 Play being my favourite so far.

what have 8-4 play worked on so far? (too lazy to check myself :P )

        • Kurisu Makise

          Compiling list:

          Monster Hunter Tri
          Shadows of the Damned
Nier (which I need to pickup, soon)
They’re responsible for the Tales of Localizations
          Gravity Rush
          Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Fire Emblem Awakening (mostly translation on this one)
          Jeanne d’Arc
          Eternal Sonata
          Tekken 6
          Dragon’s Dogma
          Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

          Fun stuff all around xD

Nice, quite a solid track record. will be keeping an eye out for their future projects. Thanks for sharing.

            • Kurisu Makise

No problem! I’m honestly hoping to intern with them but I’m just grateful there’s a few good choices out there as it is and no rush, I need to master the language anyway.

                日本語は一緒に頑張ろう!

  • Bucketdeft

    definitely getting this

  • PrinceHeir

    prefer the japanese voice.

this seems suited since the main character is a yakuza like character.

though im really disappointed with the english voice, after the amazing voice work from Killer 7 and No More Heroes.

since Europe and Asia are confirmed to have dual audio, then can we expect the same thing in the US?? ^^

  • PrinceHeir

yes it seems the europe and asian version will both have dual audio

“Killer is Dead will have Japanese and English video. Check out Deep Silvers post from March 5th; “Killer is Dead is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 this Summer with Japanese and English audio!”

asian version was already confirmed, so only a matter of time till we get ours as well!!

i fucking love Suda 51/Grasshopper Manufacturer and Xseed!!!

  • Solomon_Kano

Sounds good. Mondo’s voice, I’ll need to get used to, but everybody else sounds excellent.
