OMG it looks beautiful. I am soo excited

  • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Fuck yes! No need to import as the Japanese version is based on FFX International (English Voices), plus I’ve heard good stuff about the English voice cast.
The models are gorgeous. Fully modeled fingers, the tears of joy won’t stop. It looks amazing.
Price is (almost) a steal. SE finally listening to what their fans want =)

Now we just need a vXIII/XV release date and an HD-version of Type-0 confirmed at E3 and everything’s sugar and rainbows between I and SE.

    • Adol Christian

I liked the original FFX english voice :)

      • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Glad to hear that. Now I can truly look forward to it =)

      • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

I liked it too, but it would be nice to have the Japanese voices. I played a Japanese copy of Crisis Core a few months ago and the Japanese audio simply blows everything out of the water.

        • Adol Christian

I liked both English and Japanese voices in Crisis Core :)

    • MrRobbyM

*whispers*…and an HD remaster for XII

  • TruTrini4L1F3

I am super amazing super super excited…I love this game soo much I have 3 copies because everytime one could not play anymore I bought a new one..

    • Skeletor

Lord Skeletor demands that you stop handling your games like Freddy Kreuger at Christmas.

      • TruTrini4L1F3

I keep my game… Especially my true love Final Fantasy X with the most love and care…but I played it for about 200 + hours and my PS2 was old and I guess that was the reason

  • Skeletor

    Glory be to Snake Mountain.
I shall have Lockjaw and Beastman legally procure me a copy.
By legally I mean a good old fashioned brick and mortar B&E!

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

Wow $40? I thought they’re going to charge full price. Day one regardless.

    • Anime10121

Why, KHHD is the same price and has had much more work put in, 3 hour cutscenes, newly fully orchestrated soundtrack ( at least for KHFM, and some for CoM and Days), updated controls, international content never released in the west, and newer character models.

So far, the only thing we know about this game that it has in common are the updated models and the international content.

Though X isn’t my favorite (It is together with X-2 my fifth favorite in the series), I’m DEFINITELY DOUBLE DIPPING :)

    Ow yeah, bring it on

Kinda nice, gives me a chance to beat FFX-2

PS3 version for $40? Is this still Square Enix? Because I don’t recall them being this generous….

    • Richard Tooth

I’m guessing because its a PS2 games? But still wooo! :-)

    • Anime10121

Well with KH1.5HD Remix, you get 2 plus an almost 3 hour cutscene with newly recorded audio for $40, so we sure as hell BETTER be getting these 2 remastered games for $40 ;P

    • MrRobbyM

$40 is the standard price for HD remasters. There are even some PS3(non Hd remasters) that are sold at $40 new. So generous isn’t the word I’d be using.

      • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Honestly, I was expecting a $50 price tag from Square Enix(who put out FF: All the bravest)… Fair enough, so how does the word ‘smart’ sound instead?

So far, Sly Cooper Thieves in time is the only thing I can think of that is not a HD remaster and sold at $40…. Anymore?

  • tubers

Will wait for the PSV version to drop at 19.99 :)

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

I’m assuming each PSV game will cost $20.

      • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

You really think so Sal? Perhaps if they go digital only, but I guess they will release them physically as well. If that’s the case, I’m guessing X might go for at least $25, while X-2 might go for $20.

  • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Had an OCD spasm with the title. Made it shorter.

  • DarthBrian

So we get this, Lightning Returns and KH 1.5 HD Remix all by the end of the year?

    Thank you, Squeenix. <3

    • TensaiBaka

No doubt what you just stated.

    • Anime10121

Watch Lightning Returns be delayed! Unless its short as all heck, I just dont see it finishing in time for a “Fall” release, especially if this is supposed to hit in the fall too. I just dont see them releasing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which is supposed to be out in the summer (though it’ll probably release at the end of summer in August), Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, Lighting Returns Final Fantasy XIII, and Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster in the fall.

PS: Good God Square, shorten them names! I mean each one of those game titles has at LEAST 5 words ;P

      • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

I think it will all work out. Each game is separated by teams, and various game engines. The localization is what I think could slow it down.

I’m going to try and remain positive. ^^

        • Anime10121

Its not so much that its the load on the teams (which I know they have separate divisions), its the fact that SE Japan will release 4 major (even if two are remasters) console games in roughly 1-2 seasons, its unprecedented in this generation, where we’re lucky to get 1 SEJ title a year.

          • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

Yeah, I know they have been unreliable lately, and keep telling fans to “please wait”, on just about everything. It’s so bad that regardless of what they actually do, lots of fans will still not be satisfied.

I know lots of factors are involved in regards to delays, but they can only blame themselves.

The way I see it, what better time to start making up for this than 2013? What better time to turn the page, to start trying to deliver on all of those promises? I think they finally have the engine problems solved, which has been one of, if not the primary factor in all the delays.

That’s what I meant about remaining positive. I want to believe Square-Enix is ready to turn the page, to reload, to be more like the company we knew prior to 2005, to show us they have learned from the mistakes, and the company has grown stronger from them.

In other words — A return to form.

It’s all part of my hope/belief that Japanese studios have started to bounce back in regards to console games. That they are more prepared and are on board now, instead of dangling from a thin rope that is hooked loosely to the back of the train.

I believe that Square-Enix has a big role to play here… I want to believe that they are now prepared, reloaded, and up to the challenge. You have to start small when it comes to these types of things, and delivering on games you announced and teased years ago is a big start.

Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t out of the thick of it just yet, not at all. Releasing all of those games this year, that’s a small step in the right direction.

            Positive thoughts! =D

            • Anime10121

Hopefully your positivity and hopes will bear fruit, as I too wish for a return to form for SE!

  • TensaiBaka

Yes, YES! Finally I’ll Be able to travel back in time with HD! :D

  • http://www.christach.com/ Chris Tach

I’m really thinking about getting myself a PS3 just for this game ans KH. I’m debating on waiting to see if they release a version of the PS3 that might come bundled or like a special KH PS3.

    • Anime10121

Probably not gonna happen for a remake, ESPECIALLY if Japan didnt receive one already. Though I would LOVE to see a SE KH PS3, That’ll only happen when KH3 hits (or hits the PS4-whichever console it ends up on).

  • http://www.cubiz.x10.mx/ Auragar

The Vita games better be $20 apiece then. >_>

    • Help! Patchy is choking!

      $29.99 seems more likely

      • http://www.cubiz.x10.mx/ Auragar

Then they are screwing over all Vita owners.

      • http://www.facebook.com/tyler.sampson.5 Tyler Sampson

I have a feeling they will be PSN only at $20 Look what Metal Gear did with their HD collection for the Vita.

        • http://www.cubiz.x10.mx/ Auragar

Nobody likes DL-only so again screwing over Vita owners. >_>

  • https://www.facebook.com/soulsacrificedelta 新阿修羅(ShinAsura)

    Trophies for both games right?

    • Bloodios

Sure hope so. Defeating Penane and the Dark Aeons should all be part of the trophies. Unlocking and defeating Genesis should be part of the trophies, too. Heck, an “alchemist challenge” should be part of the trophies as well.

    • Solomon_Kano

I’d imagine so. There’s yet to be an HD collection without individual trophies for each game.

  • Bloodios

CG cutscenes were cropped just as I feared… that said, I’m glad that it was done professionally (sliced off the fat without ruining the meat.) The enhancements made for the models are admittedly very impressive, and having higher poly-count and more detailed textures is definitely worth the wait. However, looking at Wakka’s foot in this screenshot it would seem as though Square Enix is reusing the old circle-like shadow seen in the PS2 version… which is quite disappointing to be honest, since Persona 4: Golden actually had its characters’ shadows fully upgraded… but I’ll just hope that I’m reading way too deep into the issue and leave it at that. Although it would’ve been a nice bonus if they’ve implemented SSAO as well. Either way, I am very happy that it’s coming to the West this year. And last but not least, that logo has to be the best HD remaster logo I’ve ever seen in my life thus far!

By the way, I’m just curious but why didn’t they release any FFX-2 screenshots?

    • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

SE have very graphically potent game engines so they offer a sound base for HD-remastering. This looks gorgeous. Can’t wait, especially as I never played the original releases.

      • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

I’m kinda surprised you never played FFX. =O

        • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Started console gaming with my PS3 in December 2009. Before that it was mainly PC and N64/GB.

    • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

@Bloodios:disqus I read somewhere that P4G doesn’t was not remade using the full resolution of the PS Vita screen (960 x 544) and that there are some places where you can notice some blurry backgrounds and such. You know if that is true? If so, is it really noticeable? I was just thinking I will get both FF X and X-2 for my Vita only if they are made for the full resolution of its screen, so i wanted to know. Thanks!

      • Bloodios

Yes, the game runs below the Vita’s native resolution and there are spots that might not be too polished just as you said. Noticeable? Yes. However, it’s hardly distracting when you’re looking at 5-inch screen. All in all, it’s still a great improvement over the original PS2 version, save for Chie’s substitute voice actress…

As for the HD-remaster version of Final Fantasy X and X-2. Well, let’s just stay hopeful for now.

        • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

Thanks a lot for the reply! One more question if it is not too much to ask. How do you notice this? Just playing the game itself? Or that spec is stated somewhere in it or on the web?

          • Bloodios

Some of my friends apparently knew someone with a specialized tools to do the testing and told me what he got out of it, otherwise I wouldn’t really care since the differences, like I said, are hardly distracting. Sorry I couldn’t reply earlier, I’ve been a tad busy.

  • Adol Christian

Correct looks great. $59.99 for a PS3 and Vita bundle would be awesome :)

  • LETS PRAY FOR LOCALIZATION

Awesome news.. but the question for me is; to import or not to import lol.
i kind of want to play with JP voice but at same time i’ll probably miss the english ones.

I should had given my games when I had the chance.

  • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

I’m really looking forward to playing this again. =)

I guess it looks fine enough if you can’t figure out PCSX2… I’m disappointed personally. The lighting in the Tidus face shot looks worse than in the PS2 version, he looks very flat. Seems they’re also still using the low poly models outside of major cutscenes.

  • Fango

HD port done right… you looking at this, Capcom?

    • Bloodios

At least their lackluster ports are functional, unlike Konami and their poor treatment of ZoD and Silent Hill.

      • Fango

can’t speak for SH, but I played through the entire ZOE HD and didnt have any problems with it on the ps3.

        • Bloodios

          Well, I didn’t like the severe slowdown…

      • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

That Silent Hill port has to be one of the saddest things to happen to any video game in history.

  • PrinceHeir

all it needs is dual audio and a retranslation of the final scene in FFX

    *SPOILERS

in the japanese version Yuna actually says “Thank You” and NOT “I Love You”

i really don’t get why the western division changed that, i mean this is big difference right there.

although they are signs of love for sure, Yuna really cherish her time with Tidus during their adventures in FFX.

only in FFX-2 where she begins to realize how much she misses him, and eventually admits she like Tidus

    *END SPOILERS

    definitely getting this for sure!!!!!

    • Anime10121

Well, honestly, I like the “I love you” that the western release used MUCH more than an “Arigatou” from Yuna, to me, it made the scene have a lot more impact, and it just felt like it “fit” more.

  • Elvick

Hope the Vita versions are retail. I can see SE skimp out there… and I’m sorry, but digital only sucks. And it doesn’t really give the Vita much to show off on shelves when good games are digital only. So anyone looking to buy a Vita won’t know crap about the digital games. Relying on the games near the system.

Here’s hoping though. So excited to play X again. It’s been forever.

  • Budgiecat

Still waiting to see if they improved the framerate. It was too fast and jerky in the original

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

vita’s version should be $20 each then
