Direct feed screenshots and artwork of 10-year-old Sunny.

Sunny Gurlukovichh, who appeared in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots as a 6-year-old girl, will appear in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as 10-year-old Sunny Emmerich, after having adopted Otacon’s last name.

But wait. Why does she look like she could be 16?

Konami shared some screenshots and artwork of Revengeance Sunny today. Have a look at the gallery.

Oooh reeeeaaaally wish I hadn’t seen this. Am I going to have to stay away from Gematsu until I get my Rising!?

  • Finalshoryuken

They are giving us WAY too much info for Rising. Feels like I already beaten the game without even playing. Let alone, buying it.

    • PrinceHeir

      agree!!

this is like RE6 media all over again.

      • z_merquise

Most films nowadays were doing the same thing.

Which is why I already avoided watching the recent trailers starting with the boss trailers.

The boss fights is surely one of the highlights of the game so it’s better to be surprised rather than feeling unimpressed just because you already had an idea how it looked like.

        • PrinceHeir

yeah the bossfights i completely didn’t watch it.

saw some snippet, would rather play it and found it myself in the game ^^

Apologies for anyone who feels this way. Konami posted them, so as the person running this site, I’m going to post them. And I’m somewhat behind on Metal Gear, so I had no idea, lol.

But I am inclined to agree with your post, about many games in general. I remember when Final Fantasy XIII came out, I felt as if I’d already seen most of the game’s environments as I was playing. I hope when Square finally starts showing Versus XIII, they don’t go nuts with media. I mean, obviously show us something because it’s been 2 years since we last saw it, but keep the majority of the game a surprise.

      • Sevyne

No need for apologies since it comes with running a site like this. It’s a nice gesture though. :)

Great post btw, and I totally agree.

        • Pyrofrost

That kinda thing is why I only view debut trailers and the first couple of gameplay trailers. The articles don’t bother me so much, it’s the flood of video. People just gotta have self control when it comes to that sort of thing, if they want to keep themselves surprised.

That recent article of Shin Sangoku Musou 8 for example. I just watched the first vid, I didn’t worry about the others.

To be honest though, I really don’t consider this article a spoiler of any kind. It’s no different than a character reveal for any other game.

They do this with EVERY game now and it’s very irritating. Take the new God of War, first 30 minutes of gameplay streamed. Why would you want to ruin the experience of actually playing it?

            • Pyrofrost

Which is where the self-disciple comes in. People have the choice to watch or not. I also feel publishers share a bit of that responsibility.
However, you can’t blame gaming news sites. After all, we’re members here and they are just doing their jobs.

            • DrForbidden

No offense intended, but watching other people play a game =/= actually playing a game. And if knowing the first 15 minutes of story out of possibly 6 hours bothers you that much, you can actually choose not to watch, you know…

              • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Indeed. I chose to skip that video. Single-player media on GoWA was very drought before that, though. I guess Santa Monica thought by releasing that 30-min clip, it’d make up for it. But yeah, it’s optional to watch, I mean. And unlike the Sunny stuff, it’s not very “I’m going to show you what it is even if you don’t choose to watch it.”

IIRC, Santa Monica had this sort of philosophy with GoWIII where they barely released any media. Just a few bits every now and then leading up to launch. I liked that. More people should do that.

              • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003583595295 Shaun Huseman

Kinda hard to avoid a spoiler when it’s posted right in the damn header

                • DrForbidden

I don’t really recall the GoW news, so I can’t remember if there were spoilers in the heading, but there are no spoilers in this particular MGR news. It’s a character reveal, and she’s not even a new character to the franchise. From the article, we don’t know anything about her involvement in the plot of MGR other than her age and presence in the game.

If she died in MGS4, it would be a spoiler. If she was an adult in that game and is now a child, it would be a spoiler. If she was male in MGS4, it would be a spoiler. As it stands, I don’t see how this news article header spoils anything other than letting you know that she is a returning character.

Blame me. =) I already posted some of this in the open forum on Thursday First person to spoil is the guilty party. xD

I actually don’t really consider this much of a spoiler. She has been rumored to be in the game since they announced it, it also makes sense considering the timeline of the game.

When our buddy 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai) wrote up his article about TGS 2012, I pointed out Sunny in one of the pictures he took.

        Proof – http://gematsu.com/2012/09/an-attendees-account-of-tokyo-game-show-2012#comment-667181821

So, yeah, it has been out there rumor wise for quite a while. I do understand some people being upset, and I agree that Konami has gone way overboard with Rising media. Personally, I stopped watching it after the Jack the Ripper trailer.

Disqus needs to get some spoiler tags or somethin yo.

      • Zancrow

I feel like this with Ni No Kuni.
There really was no need to show almost every boss and the dragon in every trailer….
        Still enjoying the game, though.

  • http://twitter.com/SwimsuitHakufu ギャビン

    She looks awesome.

    • AnimusVox

She does, and someone on Siliconera said she looks like Ashe from FFXII, and because of that I thought that’s who she was in the image link xD

  • Aldridge517

Sunny side up! Her new character model is awesome. Clearly inspired by her mom.

    • PrinceHeir

      yup!!

      definitely looks like Olga :D

i wonder if she’ll grow to resemble her mom as well :)

      • http://twitter.com/MrChieftain Reinier Arboleda

Hope she doesn’t grow armpit hair though.

        • PrinceHeir

          hehe oh you :P

        • http://twitter.com/Kinbushi Richard Tooth

I hope she does ;) MEOW!!!

  • Mateus Prado Sousa

    great game

  • Eclipse

She really does look a bit older than 10….
Then again, I see kids these days that look like they’re in their early 20s, so this isn’t too surprising.

  • Raiyu

“But wait. Why does she look like she could be 16?”

    Nanomachines.

    • Sevyne

Everything can be explained with Nanomachines!

Why do they call it a Parkway when you drive on it, and a Driveway when you park on it? Well, it’s quite simple! Nanomachines!

    • uhawww

      Yup.

  • http://www.facebook.com/wtfits.gardner Cat Flames

FINAL FANTASY XIII: SUNNY RETURNS … wait ..

  • ShinAsura

That isn’t the fox engine is it, looks so , crisp

    • z_merquise

No, MG Rising runs in Platinum’s own game engine.

  • z_merquise

    She looked so cute.

    Could be the headphones.

  • Leon Kiwi

Definitely see some resemblances to Olga.
Very cute but i hope she doesn’t have hairy armpits like her mom. XD

  • KurisuMakise

Sunny looks adorable, hmm I need to go finish the demo >_<

  • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Man, she looks just like her biological mother…. Could she be affected by Snake’s FOXDIE? I recalled it causes rapid aging… Really explains why she looks 16…

  • DrForbidden

Well, she doesn’t look 16 to me. 14 at most. But yeah, definitely not 10.

Maybe Otacon has a brother called Lolicon or something…

    • Gigus

      lulz. I couldn’t stop laughing.

    • Zancrow

      Ha, good one! xD

    • http://www.facebook.com/Bladez0fDr4v3n Sae-Won Yoon

      Oh god My sides

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

      n1!

  • Budgiecat

Why does she have silver gray hair?

    • http://iadagraca.com/ DigitalWolf

      cause her mother did.

  • Zancrow

    Those crazy Japanese people…Everytime.^^

  • HeatPhoenix

    Sunny, I…

  • Azure

    Hmm.. umm.. Nevermind..

  • Marco Tinè

Putting the age conundrum aside for a moment, I’d say the characters models for Revengeance are wonderful. Maybe it was at KojiPro’s request, but I think Platinum Games put a fair amount of work into perfecting this specific aspect of its engine. Cutscenes are a big deal in any Metal Gear branded game, after all.

  • http://twitter.com/Nates4Christ Nate

Seeing familiar faces makes me rethink getting this abomination taking on the name of meta gear. We’ll see…

    • Himiko

      Abomination? please.

  • NCloud

Since MGS and MGR aren’t related at all (story line and all) this Sunny doesn’t really matter in whole Metal Gear saga right ?

    • Himiko

      4 years after MGS4.

    • Raiyu

Huh? MGR is canon with MGS so they are related.

      • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

A few months back Kojima didn’t mention it as canon when ased what games were canon.

  • http://twitter.com/AceOfCakez Ace

Can’t have a Japanese game without the loli-bait!

  • InternatlGamer3

Shea definitely going through Puberty rather early.? Just guessing since she looks a few years older than she actually is

  • http://twitter.com/NoctisFNCvsXIII Eli Shelton

She look so cute! and Greasy too! :)
