Sony Japan hosting PS Vita news broadcast tomorrow
The latest news on Sony's high-definition handheld.

Just ahead of PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York City on Wednesday, where Sony is expected to announce the next PlayStation, Sony Japan has announced plans to host a web broadcast for the latest news on PlayStation Vita tomorrow, February 18, at 17:00 Japan time (find your local time here).

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano will be presenting. There’s a note that says some of the games they will introduce in the video have age restrictions. Mature games, I’m guessing.

You’ll be able to watch it live on Ustream below. Smartphone users can watch it here.

        We are getting the PC version. Perhaps if enough gamers in the west start playing the PC version… It could lead to the vita version getting localized as well.

            Nice! I’m eagerly awaiting for Sega to finish the localization. I played some of the JPN PC version and loved it.

        I don’t think they mentioned anything about a worldwide cut. But yeah pretty much all I expected was a price cut, some ports, and MAYBE one decent reveal.

      Yeah. Basically Sony is like “well, Capcom fucked us by not putting MonHun on Vita so we have to replace it with a bunch of other hunter type games”. And they all look pretty damn awesome I must say. <3

      I really do want a MonHun game on Vita though. The dual-analog sticks would make that game a lot better to play.

        I know man, I know. The death of the claw was a welcome change in Portable 3rd on Vita, still hoping for one actually built for the system but with the games that are listed I won’t go wanting.

      Easily my most anticipated Vita game. I’m just afraid that it’s all combat even though I will enjoy it anyway.

        With all of the characters they’ve detailed, I’m sure there’ll be story to go along with the action. They just recently talked about Merlin, Morgan le Fay, Perceval, and Lancelot. They’ve all got their own backstory and their relationship to the player is mentioned.

        There are also chapters to the game, so I’m certain there will be story.

      I’m betting they will. Considering the timing of this, the price drop will probably be the only mention of the Vita on the 20th. Pending they just don’t leave that one to a random day.

      Ah well, this was a nice stop-gap for the hype train. Onward to Feb. 20th!

      The big PlayStation Event on Wednesday is an entirely different thing when compared to this. Sony is inviting the media to NYC to discuss the future of PlayStation. It’s going to be big, and with the videos they have released lately, they pretty much have already revealed that the next PlayStation will be announced.

      I wouldn’t really compare this to the event coming up. I’m very excited to see what games they show running on the next PlayStation. ^^

          I do think they will talk about the Vita, they might show some stuff, but I’m pretty sure the main focus will be on the next PlayStation.

          I’m hoping they start the show by bringing in Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch to demo a new game or something. ^^

    I’d be happy about FFX, but they only showed a look at Tidus and Yuna and nothing else. No date; Not even a 2013.

        Yeah, a price drop in the wrong place. The memory cards are what needed the price drop.

          I don’t know that this price drop was in the wrong place. If they replicate it in the US, that’ll be very good. The Vita sold well at $200 during Black Friday. This will push sales. Memory cards can drop later, but this was a good first step.

            Well a price drop is definitely good. I just think they’re focusing on the wrong thing first. I know there are a whole lot of people that will not get a Vita not because of the Vita’s price, but because of the memory cards.

              Hm. Well, I guess we’ll have to see how it works out for them before we really know if this was the right choice. Way I see it, bundles are probably dropping in price too, so the people worried about memory cards might be able to get a break on that front.

              The system had to come first though. For as many people as there are put off by the memory prices, you’d be surprised how many don’t even know that the Vita needs memory cards. That’s usually among the adults making purchases for their children, but there’s a number of just really uninformed consumers out there. If they start with the system they can get more people. More people with Vitas will mean more people complaining about memory card prices, so it’s a win-win for us lol.

    Sigh. No new game announcements. Interesting new gameplay footage, though. We haven’t seen anything new from Dragon’s crown in… what, a year now?

    Kept my expectations in check, and actually came out happier than I expected. Completely forgot about Dragon’s Crown, so that footage made the presentation for me. <3

    I will say that I got too excited when he said Square Enix. I was expecting something new since I forgot X HD was still happening. Pretty crazy that we couldn't even get a release window on that one. I mean, yay, it looks good on Vita, but hurry up SE!

    All in all, this was a nice look at how much stuff there actually is coming to Vita. With the price drop being the first announcement, followed by PS+ talk, and then all the footage, it's nice to see Sony trying to get the attention of the folks without Vitas. Let's hope it pays off!

      I probably should have kept my expectations low, but I really try to have hope and it really bites me in the ass on days like this. Oh well, I still enjoy my Vita. My patience is just wearing a little thin is all.

          It’s always good to keep expectations at a realistic level. This is something I’ve learned as a gamer over the years. It’s just solid advice. ^^

            Honestly, I learned it from getting caught up in the hype too many times. After a while you get tired of coming up with your craziest dream every time there’s an announcement to be made. So now I just come up with nothing haha.

          All I hoped for was anything that we already didn’t know about. Price drop aside, everything else is old news. Not going to let it bother me though. Like you said, “the year is young”.

            Yea, it would’ve been nice to see at least something new. Well, there was that Danganronpa tease at the end, so maybe something will come of that. Guess time will tell.
