New title made by new team to star new hero in new setting. New!

A new Assassin’s Creed title starring a new hero in a new time period made by a new team will launch in fiscal year 2014, Ubisoft confirmed during its financial call today.

“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year 14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”

Details on the title will be shared “very soon,” according to Guillemot. Stay tuned.

Thanks, Polygon.

    “Very soon,” eh?

Like February 20 soon?! *dun dun dunnnnnn*

    • Potionzmaster

      Hmm the plot thickens.

OMG, Assassin’s Creed 4 on PS4 will be awesome! Can you imagine the world that Ubisoft can create in a all new hardware. Money they have enough, AC3 already sold almost 10 millions copies.

        But will it have Gamera?

  • Prodigy-X

    2014 might own 2013 but we’ll see.

    • Raiyu

Fiscal year 2014 is April 2013 -March 2014, it’ll most likely come out this November or October.

      • Prodigy-X

In the same year as watch_dogs thats absurd

I didn’t like AC3 just didn’t do it for me. Hopefully this one will be better? Fingers crossed :-)

  • Elvick

I hope they give the Vita another AC. Liberations was a wonderful start and I’d love to see it improved at some point.

Anyhoo, wonder what this character will be like.

  • Raiyu

    I still haven’t picked up Assassin’s Creed 3 yet :( I need to find a job quickly.

Edit: Also, it better be a female assassin, with a pirate, Russian, or French theme!

    • Budgiecat

I still haven’t picked up any of them yet

  • Potionzmaster

Imo the series needs to take a (short) break. One AC game a year is a bit too much, at least to me :/
That being said, I’m very curious as to where it’s going to take place. China would be an excelent decision imo :)

    • Mateus Prado Sousa

like you or not the game sell almost 10 millions copies every year

      • Locksus

and what does that have to do with anything? He just feels that a new AC game is getting released too often.

        • Mateus Prado Sousa

people still buying because they are not tired yet

          • Locksus

does not change the fact that HE is tired with the series with its annual release.

    • Claude

I think it needs to take a big break. It takes me awhile to get through AC games, pumping them out yearly is just too much.

Next gen is practically here, they should hold off a year or two and come back strong when all the new platforms are out.

  • PrinceHeir

still no sequel to Prince of Persia 2008 T______T

    lets go to CHINA!

  • bebestorm117

Hmm I was really hoping AC would take a break but its top quality like the others then Im playing it.

  • Locksus

    WHERE’S CHARLES LEE?!

I’m surprised it will star a new hero. I haven’t finished AC3 yet, I’m playing it in my spare time, but I’m having quite a bit of fun with the side missions, mostly the naval stuff. I haven’t ran into any bugs since the last big update, and my play-through has been smooth overall.

I’d likely have finished it if I skipped the side material. I think the time period is a big key with the game, some people are not really interested in it, which can make it a bit tough to get into.

I’m not done, but I still miss Ezio. It’s funny because, people were asking for no more Ezio. I think they underestimated how great a character he was.

My biggest issue with Connor so far is his voice actor. He has his moments, but most of the time his performance feels dry. When he seems to be into it, the game is better off, when you can feel the emotion in his voice. It just doesn’t happen enough.

Will it have 1,000,000 bugs like Ass Creed 3 did?

I wish Square Enix was able to pump out FF games like that.Assassin’s creed fans are lucky as hell, they get a quality title almost every year.

How about the Industrial Revolution? Lots of tall buildings and crowds everywhere, still set in America so it could progress from 3 with relative ease, and the whole era could make for an interesting steam punk art style with good themes and a lot of gameplay diversity(since machinery and new tech was all the rage these days).

How about not set in america?….

      • adhesive

The Industrial Revolution also happened in Britain, and was much more interesting, so I somewhat take my comment back, but there’s nothing wrong with being set in America.

I guess but I would like to go further back maybe without guns and such :-) maybe more brawling and less shooting?

You know, you could refine the climbing mechanics before moving into the main titles….
