MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios has taken the stage at PlayStation Meeting 2013 to announce DriveClub, a new, first-person racer for PlayStation 4.

The project began as a concept at Evolution Studios nine years back. But the hardware at the time just wasn’t at the right level for its creation. With PlayStation 4, however, the team knew it was time to make the game a reality. The game is backed by a staff whose past works include WRC, Formula 1, Gran Turismo, MotorStorm, WipEout, Project Gotham Racing, and GRID 2.

DriveClub features club-vs-club racing and players can share matches online. Cars have been recreated with “obsessive love” and every track is packaged with challenges. Players can walk into the car themselves, and even strap themselves in.

I’ve been wanting team driving since R4 and most notably Burnout Paradise. Sadly I wanted it to be in a new Wipeout game. :(
