2K and Irrational Games have announced a BioShock Infinite season pass.

The pass will grant gamers access to $30 worth of three downloadable expansions providing “hours of additional gameplay” for $19.99 / 1600 Microsoft Points. The content will “continue the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons.”

Additionally, consumers who purchase the season pass will receive the Early Bird Special Pack free of charge. It includes:

  • Four pieces of exclusive gear.
  • A Machine Gun Damage Upgrade.
  • A Pistol Damage Upgrade.
  • A gold skin for both weapons.
  • Five Infusion bottles that allow players to increase their health, their shield durability, or their ability to use Vigors by increasing the quantity of Salts they can carry.

BioShock Infinite is due for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 26. The season pass will be available on the same day.

People buy season passes quite a bit I imagine. I don’t think they will fade away until consumers stop buying them.

Well, yeah, that’s sadly the case.

Thanks 2K for making up my mind for me. I have now decided to wait for a Steam sale for the GOTY edition.

Sorry, dumb question, but why is it called a season pass? I’d think that meant something for a limited availability, but this is basically a Groupon kind of thing, right?
