Armored Core: Verdict Day headed westward

Out in North America this summer, Europe and Australia this fall.

Namco Bandai has announced Armored Core: Verdict Day, From Software’s latest sequel in the robot battle franchise, for a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 launch this summer in North America and this fall in Europe and Australia.

In Verdict Day, the world is in chaos and important natural resources needed for the survival of competing factions are scavenged and fought across the world with Armored Core mechs. Players will enlist in one of the various in-game factions, command a squadron of up to 20 members, and fight for territory in a dystopian future torn apart by war and stripped of natural resources.

The game will include a persistent multiplayer mode, new matchmaking system, and “robust feature sets” for its co-op and multiplayer modes. Operator Mode, which debuted in Armored Core V, will return with “new upgrades,” allowing players to command their squadron from a top-down point-of-view. Operators can set rally points, mark targets, and receive real-time in-cockpit views from other players and AI squad members.

Armored Core V owners will be able to import their save data and use their already-created Armored Core mech from the previous game, then build upon it with “hundreds” of new parts.

So is this a simultaneous release in Japan then? Is September considered summer?

September would be considered part of Fall. Winter stretches until the end of February (there are a few Tales games which have released in February, but were still considered a ‘Winter’ release).

So this means NA is getting it before Japan then? Japan is getting it in September

    • Bloodios

Don’t know about anywhere else, but I’m pretty sure in the U.S., the 21st of September is when summer officially ends.

  • GaySkull

I hope its as fun as MS Gundam: Battle Operation

  • Skerj

Wasn’t a fan of the bulky look of ACV, I want my god damn White Glint back.

    (Still buying it.)

Why don’t they bring Gundam games anymore? ):

    • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

Both mech games, but wrong company :x

From Software isn’t involved in the localization for Gundam titles in North America/Europe/etc.

      • Bloodios

I’m quite positive that Elvick is preferring to Namco Bandai, and not From Software. The article is about Namco Bandai announcing release dates, after all.

        • http://twitter.com/Elvick Elvick

          Bingo! :3

Eh… I’m well aware of that, but still… People generally think of From Software rather than Namco Bandai when Armored Core is mentioned. Might as well be asking where my Bumpy Trot 2/Steambot Chronicles 2 is too since it has mechs @w@

    • Bloodios

Yeah, they could at least localize Gundam: Battle Operation

      • MosquitoLemon

        Please, no o_o
        Most people just want GvG.

        • Bloodios

Hey, at least it’s free so you can just jump in whenever you’re bored. Beside it can still be profitable for Bamco with all that micro-transactions.

Beside, wouldn’t Extreme VS. have a better chance than its predecessors, with PSP pretty much dead in the West and all.

    • ShinAsura

      Poor sales probably

  • Bloodios

From Software should seriously consider getting rid of their of obsession with V-sync. The PS3 version of Armor Core V was borderline unplayable, due to the frame rate issue.

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome!

  • HeatPhoenix

Are they gonna regionlock the online in this too?
    Tch.

  • Souji Tendou

Is this a 3rd person shooter, or a strategy based game?

    • Heavenly_King

a robot simulation game in 3rd person.

From. Please fix tank legs in verdict day. the ones in ACV seemed to surf through the soil in a very unfinished, cheesy fashion. make them turn like the treads in chromehounds. also, fix the howitzers, ACV howitzers sucked. They where only effective if you got a direct hit. make them like the Howitzers in Chromehounds.
