Namco Bandai has announced Armored Core: Verdict Day, FromSoftware‘s latest sequel in the robot battle franchise, for a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 launch this summer in North America and this fall in Europe and Australia.
In Verdict Day, the world is in chaos and important natural resources needed for the survival of competing factions are scavenged and fought across the world with Armored Core mechs. Players will enlist in one of the various in-game factions, command a squadron of up to 20 members, and fight for territory in a dystopian future torn apart by war and stripped of natural resources.
The game will include a persistent multiplayer mode, new matchmaking system, and “robust feature sets” for its co-op and multiplayer modes. Operator Mode, which debuted in Armored Core V, will return with “new upgrades,” allowing players to command their squadron from a top-down point-of-view. Operators can set rally points, mark targets, and receive real-time in-cockpit views from other players and AI squad members.
Armored Core V owners will be able to import their save data and use their already-created Armored Core mech from the previous game, then build upon it with “hundreds” of new parts.
