On one hand, I don’t think changing the DualShock is a good idea, (I especially like the DS3) since I don’t like any of their competitors current home console controllers. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind a microswitch type dpad like the Vita, Sega systems, or 3ds has.

I would totally be down for a Saturn like controller as well, especially with two rows of three buttons.

Either way, I hope they don’t try to make it like the 360 controller — I bought the Mayflash universal adapter to use on the 360 for a reason.

I dunno, I don’t find the DS ergonomic for long play times myself. It’s definitely iconic, and I don’t mind using it, but after marathon sessions my thumb joints ache. Maybe I’m just getting old.

Awww, what’s wrong with the boomerang design? With the boomerang, when you throw the controller due to anger or frustration, you don’t have to worry about losing it as it always returns to you… ;P

Absolutely, iconic (as Sal said) AND ergonomic, for the most part anyway. All I ask is that they give us a proper freaking d-pad, just connect the damn thing in the middle like on the SNES, or any proper d-pad for that matter!!!! >__>

That’s all, otherwise, absolutely 100% happy with the DualShock.

Congrats, i HATED the old design ever since it came out in 94′. One of the worst controllers ever. The 4 buttons were too small. The shoulder buttons were awfully cheap and flimsy feeling. The D-Pad was probably the worst i ever used on any controller. The whole structure isnt ergonomic at all. And a controller should have 6 buttons in a row unless you blatantly copy the snes controller design and add horns to it. Eiter way; good riddance.

keep dualshock with not revolution to playing game is just step back for PS4

Most comfortable controller I’ve ever played. Granted I never played on other controller except NES one.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m not adverse to change, but the controller is the main way I identify a PS console. Perhaps whatever future controller there is, it still looks like the dualshock one? Or keep dualshock, but have peripherals to attach to the controller? I bought that keypad for my ps3 controller, so I could see other things made. Though I’d be curious about a front and back touch screen controller…

I refuse to believe this. I feel like the Dualshock is part of the PlayStation brand. It’s been around since the original PS.

How about they keep the Dualshock, and release this new controller as a stand alone we can buy?

I really hope this isn’t true. It most likely is, but I love the Dualshock. Only controllers I liked as much were the Gamecube and N64 ones.

If they take anything from the Vita though, I’d love to see them use its d-pad. Make it a bit larger and that would be excellent.
