One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2, the sequel to last year’s One Piece: Pirate Warriors , is coming to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in North America this summer, Namco Bandai has announced.

The game was previously announced for a PlayStation 3 release in Europe this summer, and a PlayStation 3 and PS Vita release in Japan on March 20.

The sequel sees the Straw Hat pirates explore and conquer “wondrous and mysterious” islands, such as Skypiea, while traveling through the New World in the “bizarre realm” beyond the Grand Line. Characters like Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, and Nami will reappear and new characters like Eneru will make their first-ever PlayStation 3 appearance.

“The successful collaboration between Tecmo Koei Games and Namco Banadi Games will provide excitement never seen before, surpassing the previous title with more of Dynasty Warriors‘ excitement and One Piece’s wildly popular adventures,” says Wyman Jung, Associate Brand Manager at Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “Our goal is to bring a fresh and riveting gameplay experience fit for fans aspiring to be the next Pirate King.”

Digital distribution in the states only. Best bet is to import it from Europe. Much like I imported Saint Seiya Chronicle (since that didnt even come to the states at all)

@Sal: Spell correction needed on the 2nd Warriors in the article.

    Other than that, good news!

Sorry. I get a little excited sometimes.

      • Pyrofrost

        No need for apologies :p

I e-mailed their PR for confirmation since the IGN article doesn’t clarify.

Will probably be a digital download , this is a niche title

    • DarthBrian

Yup. I’ll probably have to import the disc from Europe again.

    • PrinceHeir

      doubt it.

this is Namco, not Tecmo ^^

plus One Piece is popular in the world, so i don’t think they’ll half ass this.

Naruto is retail, so it’s highly chance this will as well.

dual audio is a no brainer ^^

      • ShinAsura

Well the game is really good but One Piece in America doesn’t seem to be as big as Naruto. They also confirmed it’ll be digital only which is better than not releasing it at all.

Which reminds me, I need to go re-download Orochi 3

        • PrinceHeir

ehh it’s already been confirmed to be digital :

          wtf Namco?!?!

          don’t be Tecmo!!!

      • MosquitoLemon

It IS a Tecmo game, and did you miss the whole thing where they already released the original game, digital-only, Japanese audio-only on US PSN? If it weren’t for TecmoKoei, we wouldn’t get ANY One Piece or Gundam games period.

Naruto is not Tecmo, and about a bajillion times more popular than One Piece – the games get actual localizations.

        • PrinceHeir

i just found out now it is a collaboration of Namco and Tecmo.

          not just tecmo themselves.

so i blame Tecmo for making this digital in the first place.

that’s debatable. One Piece has been getting popular lately, Naruto is just Naruto.

          same old.

  • DarthBrian

Glad to hear it won’t take that long for us to get this one. :)

  • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

    Well, it’s digital-only.

    • DarthBrian

      import confirmed then.

  • MrKappa

Sad that it is once again digital only but the game is too fun to pass up over that. :/

Thank goodness I live in Europe! And thank god the PS3 is region free for north america!

I get the feeling PS4 won’t be region locked with Discs and all.

I’m in just after I get One Piece Pirate Warriors, and beat it.

  • MosquitoLemon

I guess the upshot is that they’ll lower the price of the original. I love the Warriors series, but over $40 for a digital title? Nooooo…

  • KurisuMakise

Time out. No PS Vita edition for NA/Europe? =(

    • HassanJamal

Confirmed by Namco Bandai US. This sucks.

      • KurisuMakise

…brb, going to SCEA headquarters, that’s absolute nonsense. It’s already digital only, it can’t kill to release the PS Vita version. Really, at all…

        • HassanJamal

Yup, i dont understand it either. Again, freakin sucks.
